NICOLA STREETEN
Billy, Me & You, a graphic memoir about Streeten’s bereavement following the death of her two-year old son was published in the UK by Myriad Editions in 2011. It received Highly Commended in the Popular Medicine category of the British Medical Association Medical Book Awards 2012. Nicola received an Arts Council England award in 2012 to research and develop her second graphic novel, a fiction exploring issues around pregnancy, to be published in Autumn 2014 by Myriad Editions. She is co-founder of Laydeez do comics, “a combination between a book club and a series of TED talks”
Nicola has been awarded an Arts and Humanities Research Council Scholarship from Sussex University to begin a research doctorate in 2013, on British women’s comics from 1970-present.
