www.TheBBmag.com Judee Guay, Founder of WOW Utah, Inc.

Giving Women A HAND-UP Q. What is the Gala and its purpose?

Interview with Wow Utah, Inc. Founder Judee Guay By Jennifer Weaver Q. Tell me why you started WoW Utah and how it functions? A. When I started WoW Utah - also known as Women of Worth, Utah - I really wasn't fully aware of exactly what that looked like. I envisioned women going into an event, escorted down a red carpet, and coming out transformed into the women they were created to be. It just snowballed from there. WoW Utah is now in its sixth year of existence as a 501c3 charity that assists women who have courageously left abuse and polygamy, overcome substance abuse, survived a debilitating illness, or simply cannot find their voice to believe in themselves. We are the middle part of the healing. It is once you find the support to get out of the situation, and have learned the basic tools to not be in crisis, but still do not know how to put all the pieces together to rebuild that new life, where WoW Utah helps. How WoW Utah helps is through a one-year, women-supportingwomen mentoring program, which is free to our women of worth. These women are supported throughout the year by trained volunteer mentors who help them learn tools to move them through tough triggers. They learn to set goals, boundaries and love themselves unconditionally from the inside out. They attend monthly worthshops to support the goals and dreams that they are working toward, all with support of their mentors and other women in WoW. This allows them to become who they were truly created to be; WORTHY, CAPABLE and ENOUGH. At the culmination of the year, these women are honored at a red carpet, black tie gala, much like I envisioned. Our motto is: WoW Utah gives women a HAND-UP, not a handout.

16

THEBEAUTYBATTALION.COM

A. The WoW Utah Gala & Silent Auction is the year-end culmination of our women of worth's journey. They are treated to manicures, pedicures, new hairstyles and full make-overs. They are adorned in an evening gown with their new look that now matches the belief of themselves inside. Pure beauty inside and out! They are celebrated at the gala event, which this year is Nov. 4, 2017, at Noah's Event Center in South Jordan. A momentous event at the gala is when WoW participants proclaim individually on stage - in front of the community, VIPs and dignitaries - "I am a Woman of Worth," and they believe it to their core. But, the journey with WoW does not end there. They come back as volunteers, mentors and some have even become directors and board members. They are always welcomed at the following year’s worthshops to continue with the tools that help them to always strive to become better on their personal journeys. We are a family. We support our women as the years go by.

Q. What percentage of donations are earmarked to support the women you serve?

There are lots of new and exciting events happening, and all of them are designed to support A. 100% of our donations go directly and indirectly women in our own community. You may sign-up on to support our women. We truly depend on donations, the website for the newsletter so you can stay sponsorships and volunteers. We have a shoe string informed at www.wowutah.org. budget for WoW, as it is all about giving back to our women of worth, and providing them the tools they need to move forward in their journeys. Q. Are there any other opportunities aside from the Gala that an individual can donate? A. Absolutely! You can go on the website and make a monetary donation or submit a volunteer application. We also have fundraisers throughout the year people have come to enjoy supporting and attending, including our annual Monte Carlo fundraiser. This evening of casino games, food and music awards more than $13,000 in prize drawings of various donated items ranging from free airline tickets and resort stays to gift baskets and highquality accessories. So, mark your calendars this year, February 24, 2018, and come dressed up to support the theme of 50's Sock Hop. Advanced tickets are only $25 person. We are also sponsoring a Mad Hat(ter) Party in May and car show in August!

#FIRSTTIMEFURMOM October is National Animal Safety and Prevention Month; a month dedicated to promoting the safe practices of handling and caring for both domestic and wild animals. ... National Animal Safety and Prevention Month was created by the PALS Foundation. PALS is dedicated to helping people and animals coexist in a way that benefits all of nature. Being animal safety month, I want to share my story that just occurred over the Labor Day weekend when I took Josie to the local beach here in Malibu. It was a beautiful weekend, and would be slightly cooler at the beach, so off I went with a friend and her two labs. We went early in the day, around 10 a.m. and planned on leaving at 1 p.m. It would be a short day to just get the fur kids on the beach, and the water was actually warm here on the pacific which is rare, and a good time to go and enjoy the water. I take Josie out to play with her tennis ball in the morning and evening at least 5 times a week. She is a dog motivated by the ball, more than food to do anything, and the thing that brings her most happiness. She absolutely loved running for the ball at the beach, (she does not really care for the water), so I would just rinse her under belly down to keep her cool, since she is also black and attracts heat. She truly was so happy - running, playing, other dogs were there her size doing the same, and just a fun day. Upon returning home, I went for a swim in my pool, and Josie was inside to rest. Around 5 p.m. it was time to head to the park to meet with friends, and do just a little play since she had already been at the beach‌This is when I started to notice issues. She was just not herself at the park. She actually spit up some water, and had some poop issues - not really like her.

18

THEBEAUTYBATTALION.COM

We came home and she was still acting strange/quiet- she then threw up two more times, and I just knew something wasn’t right. I looked on Google and was shocked by what could be happening from my day at the beach. I called my best friend to come with me, and we were off to the Pet Hospital by 8 pm. She was physically examined and I was told, she seemed okay, but probably best to do a X-ray since there was sand in her behind, and I agreed. The Vet came back in with some bad news - she had a 6 inch impaction in her large intestine, and a 4 inch pack of sand in her small intestine as well. I have included the picture for you to see.

They look like little hot dogs, but really packs of sand. She now was going to have to stay for the night, have a IV to keep her hydrated, and since it was already moving through her system - they wanted to see if it could pass naturally first. I went home and was riddled with guilt. How could I have not known that a tennis ball could attract so much sand and that this could happen.

Dogs have always played on the beach, but I found out that due to her size (she weighs 16-17lb) and she has a large tongue - these things could happen. That didn’t really make me feel better, but now it was time to pray for Poop! The clinic is 24 hours so I was able to keep an eye on her all night, and called every few hours. She was doing well, and by 9 a.m. the next morning - we had some success in her passing sand. My lesson learned - Sand, Beach and Tennis ball can lead to a very serious issue and become a $1,000 beach day. There is also problems with dogs ingesting too much salt water that could also lead to very serious issues. I am sharing this personal story to just help others be aware. Again, this being Animal prevention and safety month - just want to help others keep their pets safe, and no one have to go through what I did. I am truly blessed, I was able to take her home the following evening and just watch her for the next few days and keep her to a bland diet while all passed. I asked so many other dog owners, and they all had no idea, but while at the vet - it seemed pretty common. Life is such a process of learning when you have animals, and just grateful my story has a happening ending. Next beach day - bringing a rubber ball that may not be as likely to pick up sand, and be much more careful.

Always try and rescue when pawsible, xoxo Dawn McCarthy Instagram- #FirstTimeFurMom WWW.THEBBMAG.COM

FACILITATOR OF FUN HEALS HEARTS, INSPIRES MINDS By Jennifer Weaver

I

t wasn’t a laughing moment 9 years ago, when Karen Bayard was with her dying brother exchanging their last goodbyes. It was, however, a defining moment

that set her on a path of living the life she had dreamed of from the time she was a little girl, which would include roars of laughter and daily fun and games. “We had this long conversation about our lives, about what we really wanted, and whether we felt we were on the path of achieving our life goals,” Bayard said. “My brother was dying so, in essence, we were reviewing his life, and for me, I thought I was just having a conversation with him until I left the hospital, went home and really started thinking about it.”

Bayard reflected vividly on a question her mother asked her, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Her answer as a contemplative, self-assured 10-year-old was that she wanted to play for a living. She reasoned with her mother telling her that because eight hours was for sleeping, being one-third of each day, and working is another third of each day, that only one-third was left to do everything else she wanted. “I figured if I played for work, my day would be much more enjoyable,” she said. “I remembered that and wondered, I’ve always said I wanted to play for a living, why am I not doing that? So, I decided that’s what I would do, since it seems life is short & tomorrow is not promised.”

BECOMING A BARREL OF LAUGHS In 2008, Bayard started her own business called, Whole Body Laughter, which offers playshops and funinfused training programs. Since then, the sparkly eyed woman with bounds of enthusiasm has worked with thousands of people internationally, including leading a workshop at Trinity College in Ireland and designing & facilitating a series of team building playhops at Disneyland. 22

But the New York-born comedian and facilitator of fun wasn’t always leading a humor-driven life. Bayard joined the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from college and served for four years. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, she re-enlisted and served an additional 2 years as an Arabic linguist.

“My life has been blessed many, many times because I dodged a lot of bullets literally and figuratively,” she said, without going into details. Upon being honorably discharged, Bayard recuperated from injuries sustained as a solider by starting a pet sitting and dog walking business. She says, “The time I spent caring for animals, hiking in the mountains and learning about the mind-body relationship was instrumental both in my healing process and would inform the work I do today.” “I have a philosophy of helping people play to their strengths, and how it can be done through humor and games,” Bayard said. “I help people abandon attachments to how they are ‘supposed to’ do things, in order to discover their true and best ways to function.” 24

THEBEAUTYBATTALION.COM

MORE THAN FUN & GAMES Being true to herself took Bayard on a journey that started with what she thought was a laughter yoga class offered in Chicago. It turned out to be an actual training to become a certified laughter yoga leader. Laughter yoga, founded by Dr. Madan Kataria is a practice that combines yoga breathing and laughter to promote wellness. She not only enjoyed the training, she went on to the second level, becoming a certified instructor and began teaching classes in Utah. In fact, Bayard taught the first semester course for credit at Salt Lake Community College – also the first nationwide.

After five years of teaching laughter yoga, Bayard branched out into using games to teach different concepts as a trainer at Western Governors University (WGU) and facilitator at conferences and corporate workshops where she has been independently contracted. She even became a board member for the Association of Applied & Therapeutic Humor. “After working at WGU for a year I was offered a promotion. Karen began our training with games

PET-FRIENDLY

PRACTICES FOR FALL A

Photos courtesy of Getty Images

FAMILY FEATURES

s scorching temperatures fade and pest season passes, pet owners may breathe a sigh of relief. Although the seasonal risks of summer are gone, your four-legged friend may need some special attention this autumn, as well.

Cold-weather pests. Though the dangers associated with ticks, mosquitos and other creepy, crawly critters lessen as the temperatures drop, those same colder days bring other creatures scurrying inside and that can present a whole new set of problems. Rats and mice tend to migrate indoors in search of warmth and the poisons used to eliminate them can be highly toxic to pets. Be sure pesticides are used in areas inaccessible to your animals. Stay alert. Ticks may be less prevalent in the fall, but that doesn’t mean they’re gone completely – especially if hospitable environments remain. Keep yard and garden debris to a minimum and continue administering repellents for any pets that spend time outdoors. On the move. Seasonal changes mean wildlife is on the move, making changes to settle into winter. Snakes are often more mobile during autumn months and inexperienced pets may risk bites if they tangle with intruders. Shiny, new things. Kids aren’t the only ones attracted to a collection of new school supplies. Curious pets may dive into a pile of crayons, markers, rulers and other supplies, and although the items likely aren’t toxic, they can result in digestive blockages or damage from sharp, broken edges. Anticipate energy needs. Colder temperatures can mean your pet has to exert more energy to keep warm and that may warrant bumping up meal serving sizes. Consult with your veterinarian about the appropriate feeding amounts for your pet’s specific breed, health and lifestyle needs. Auto-related issues. Many car owners use the change of season as a milestone for car maintenance and winterizing, such as changing oil or antifreeze. Antifreeze in particular is highly toxic; a small quantity can kill pets and, unfortunately, the sweet smell makes it quite attractive to curious creatures. Clean spills thoroughly and take added precaution by keeping pets away from your work area entirely while handling these substances. Not so fun-gus. Damp conditions can bring about a surge of mushrooms. Although only a small percentage of mushrooms are toxic, they can be hard to distinguish from the non-toxic variety. A good rule of thumb: keep pets clear of areas where mushrooms may be found, or if that’s not possible, conduct regular checks and remove any temptation that pops up. Comfort foods. Most pet owners know chocolate is dangerous for pets, but many other foods that are common in the fall can also be problematic. Keep pets away from rich, savory foods that can upset their digestion and leave Fido at home during your annual jaunt to the apple orchard; apple stems, seeds and cores can create plenty of digestive havoc. If you want to indulge your pet with a little seasonal flavor, instead try offering fresh or canned pumpkin. Find more pet parenting tips for fall and all year long at eLivingToday.com.

Reasons to Add Charcoal to Your BEAUTY ROUTINE

Now that summer is coming to an end you may notice dullness to your skin along with new wrinkles. You applied sunscreen, drank water and thought you did all the right things to maintain supple, glowing, hydrated skin through the summer months. However, air pollution, sweat, and residue from cosmetics take their toll. Luckily activated charcoal with its incredible ability to draw out impurities, is just what post summer skin needs. Offering us details on the benefits of charcoal, is Dr. Margarita Lolis, Board-Certified Dermatologist and member of the American Academy of Dermatology. What’s important to understand is that activated charcoal is typical charcoal but it’s heated in a special way that helps with the 32

absorption of liquids and toxins. It’s not the same charcoal used to barbecue hamburgers. Medical grade activated charcoal is often used in hospitals serving as an emergency remedy for poisonings. Activated charcoal has become a popular ingredient in beauty products because it does a great job going deep to draw out dirt, impurities deep in the pores. “There are a lot of products on the market and a lot of easy recipes people can use to create at home masks. When used once or twice weekly, depending on skin type, you’ll see improvement to skin texture and appearance pretty quickly. Results are pretty fast when activated charcoal in powder form is used,” explains Dr. Lolis.

BEFORE ADDING CHARCOAL TO YOUR BEAUTY REGIMEN, CHECK OUT DR. LOLIS’ LIST OF TOP SKIN BENEFITS OF ACTIVATED CHARCOAL.

1.

Makes pores smaller- Summertime perspiration leads to pore expansion and enlargement. Activated charcoal helps pull out toxins and dirt from your pores to make them less visible. “The key here is you want to allow enough time for the charcoal to do its thing. Don’t scrub and be sure to rinse with lukewarm water, advises Dr. Lolis.”

2.

Removes oil from skinActivated charcoal has many properties that help balance and soak up the oil from your face. Dr. Lolis explains that due activated charcoal has a strong ability to vacuum up oil. “People with normal to dry skin should use charcoal it once or twice a week to avoid drying out your skin. People with oily skin can use a combination of an activated charcoal soap daily then a mask twice per week,” she says.

3.

Exfoliates- This is where activated charcoal does wonders to improve skin texture. In addition to extracting oil and dirt, it removes dead skin from the skins surface explains Dr. Lolis. “You get the deep clean plus the surface clean when you use activated charcoal. It’s a one-two punch. If you’re not the type to get professional facials twice monthly, a face cleansing regimen with activated charcoal is a great at-home option to achieve that deeper clean.

4.

Calms breakouts and removes acne scars – Those deep painful cystic pimples often lead to scarring and blemishes. Activated charcoal works to lighten acne scarring by lifting off the darkened dead skin. Given it is also rich in anti-inflammatory properties acne prone skin is soothed and future breakouts prevented. “For those who can’t afford laser or light therapy, or simply want an at home solution for acne charcoal will help fade scars over time. The key is to stick with it,” says Dr. Lolis.

5.

Anti-Aging- “Whenever you are exfoliating the skin and accomplishing a deeper clean, wrinkles decrease and a supple skin rejuvenation occurs,” says Dr. Lolis. Women in their 30’s and 40’s who struggle with adult acne find activated charcoal helps with breakouts and overall skin texture and radiance. Aging skin tends to be dryer so it’s important to use charcoal on the oilier areas of our skin as opposed to everywhere,” she adds.

Simple Ways to

Live Better

W

FAMILY FEATURES

hen it comes to creating a healthy lifestyle, some recommendations are fairly simple, such as exercising regularly and eating right. Many people, however, don’t know how much exercise they should get or which foods are the best choices. They also may not realize there are other ways to take care of their bodies and minds to promote better overall health. Start on the path to healthier living with these tips from the wellness experts at Walgreens.

Exercise regularly. The American Heart Association recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity at least five days a week, and that’s because an active lifestyle can help you achieve far more than 34

THEBEAUTYBATTALION.COM

muscle mass or weight loss. Regular exercise can also contribute to mental well-being, and even something as simple as a walking break or two at work can provide health benefits.

Eat well. The keys to a healthy diet are eating the right amount of calories for your activity level and eating a wide range of foods to ensure that you’re receiving all the nutrients your body needs. By prior itizing great taste and ingredient guidelines, such as minimizing hydrogenated oils, trans fats and artificial ingredients, Walgreens Nice! products help take the guesswork out of making healthier choices. In an effort to simplify healthy living, the line’s packaging, products and ingredient standards were updated, and offerings now include organic and gluten-free options in addition to traditional baking goods and other general grocery items.

Get enough sleep. Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being, and can help improve your mental health, physical health and quality of life. The National Sleep Foundation recommends 7-9 hours per night for adults and 9-11 hours for school-aged children. If you find sleep elusive, try implementing a bedtime routine to send signals to your body that it’s time to sleep, avoid screen time immediately before lights out and eliminate caffeine after lunch.

Manage stress. Between juggling a career, family and other commit ments, it’s easy to find things to stress over. Practices such as meditation and yoga can help better manage stress. Setting aside time for a favorite hobby can also help relieve stress and focus on an activity you enjoy. Aside from mental and emotional impacts, stress can also impact your physical health, so it’s important to identify coping mechanisms that reduce overall stress.

Be social. Making time to socialize with friends and family is an important part of living a long and healthy life. Even if your schedule is packed, try to block out time at least once a week to spend with family and friends.

Break bad habits. Whatever their nature, work to break bad habits by first acknowledging the problem then working to replace the negativity with alternatives that make a more positive impact on your life. Even a negative attitude can bring you down. To discover more ways to make healthy lifestyle choices, visit walgreens.com/nice.

MAKE BETTER FOOD CHOICES Maintaining a healthy diet can be easier than you think if you make your eating habits a priority and know how to make smart food choices. For the best results, choose foods from all five major food groups with help from these tips:

Fruits and vegetables Fruits and vegetables are naturally low in fat and contain necessary fiber, vitamins and minerals. Rather than serving fruits with cream cheese or sugary sauces, opt for nut butters or Nice! organic honey, and toss raw, steamed, boiled or baked vegetables in olive oil, salt and pepper instead of buttery sauces.

Protein Select low-fat, lean cuts of meat and season them with herbs, spices and low-sodium marinades. Baking, broiling, grilling and roasting are the healthiest preparation methods. Try swapping ground beef for a lean or extra-lean cut, or opt for ground chicken or turkey instead. Non-meat protein options such as dry beans, peas and lentils can even be swapped for meat in recipes such as lasagna or chili.

Dairy Choose skim or non-dairy milk, like soy, rice or almond milk, and use low-fat or part-skim cheeses in recipes. Nonfat or Greek yogurt can replace sour cream in many recipes and

options like sherbet and soft-serve frozen yogurt are lower in fat than ice cream.

Grains Choose products that list whole grains as the first ingredient, as they are low in fat and high in fiber. Some easy swaps include whole-grain flour, pasta and rice, as well as bypassing doughnuts and pastries for English muffins or bagels and opting for unsalted pretzels instead of potato chips. Add some variety with tasty organic items such as Nice! flavored popcorns and tortilla chips.

Fats, oils and sweets Too many high-fat foods can add excess calories to your diet, which can lead to weight gain and obesity, or increase your risk for certain health issues. However, a small amount of heart-healthy fat is actually good for you. When it comes to sweets, fig bars and gingersnaps make for healthy alternatives to cookies. Also beware of calorie-laden condiments and opt for nonfat and light mayonnaise and salad dressings instead.

Head-to-Toe Fall Fashion Tips for Men and Women

We all need solid, traditional staples in our wardrobes when the weather cools. But be they scarves, jackets or socks, the trend in this fall’s clothing staples is all about putting a fun twist on classics when dressing for seasonal weather.

(StatePoint)

Scarves

Jackets

Extra-long scarves and blanket scarves are in style this season, worn in just about any way you can dream up. They are being worn as wraps, shrugs, head coverings and more. Wrapped around your shoulders and crossed behind your back, blanket scarves become a wrap or shrug-like experience to keep you toasty. Worn over the head a traditional scarf will keep your ears protected from chilly breezes.

Belted jackets for women are on point this season, according to experts, enabling the wearer to style them with versatility to create different looks with the same garment. And making a bold resurgence are denim jackets, as this rugged fabric proves to be a nice defense against cool fall breezes. Denim jackets this season are coming in a variety of styles and lengths -- from short to long, straight edged to frilly.

And looped traditionally around your neck, longer scarves become, well, simply scarves designed to keep your neck and upper body warm into the coming season when the mercury dips. 40

THEBEAUTYBATTALION.COM

For men, fall outerwear is trending towards quilted or padded, and traditional jackets are being outfitted with a bit more of an edge in oversized proportions. Think classic with a twist or business attire with attitude.

Socks In keeping with the theme of basics with a twist, think fashion-forward socks. Whether it’s rich autumn shades, jewel toned patterns, knit boot socks, or not so basic black, brands like iconic Gold Toe are churning out on-trend accessories for the season. For instance, everyone has heard of the Little Black Dress, so Gold Toe is introducing the Little Black Sock -- a collection of women’s socks that offer styles featuring scalloped edges, stripes and subtle patterns. These wardrobe staples come in an assortment of toe covers, luxury trouser socks and lavish crews, with styles made from lace, prima cotton and microfiber, to name a few. And the brand’s new Fairisle Crew is a traditional boot sock that has a touch of bright colors as a fun nod to sweater season.

When it comes to men’s socks, the season is bringing with it a blend of style and innovation. For instance, the Gold Toe Fashion Singles feature a number of bold autumn shades that incorporate Fresh 24/7 technology to help prohibit the growth of bacteria that causes odor. These styles are fashionably flexible and can be dressed up or down no matter the occasion. With colorful stripes, novelty prints and fall patterns, these socks can step up your wardrobe this season. Beauty/3 WAYS TO REVAMP YOUR SKINCARE

3 WAYS TO REVAMP YOUR SKINCARE (BPT) - Smart skincare is essential year-round to maintain healthy, youthful looking skin. During the colder months, it becomes especially critical as temperatures, humidity and air quality are in flux — not to mention your calendar, which is sure to be packed with seasonal festivities. By upgrading your skincare regimen this winter, you can better protect your skin through dry conditions and maintain a healthy glow between your daily activities and holiday happenings. Whether you’re getting glam for a gathering, hitting the ski slopes or holiday shopping for that special someone, taking care of your skin is key to looking and feeling your best! Shine with refined, smoothed skin. The secret to maintaining healthy looking, dewy skin is to find skincare products that help refine the appearance of pores. While cold air visibly shrinks pores, lower humidity levels can actually increase excess oil production and cause irritated, clogged pores. When choosing your skincare products, look for those designed to retexturize your skin. Formulas with scientifically proven ingredients like oat extract help exfoliate the skin to unclog pores, while lentil seed extract, which is high in antioxidants, can reduce the appearance of pores. Additionally, java tea extract is known for its oil control properties. Such ingredients are used in products like Artistry Advanced Skin Refinisher, which is a great addition for your skincare regimen.

P

MOISTURIZE

Always remember to moisturize skin and stay hydrated. This goes for every climate and season, as skin cells require water to stay healthy and resist environmental damage. In the winter, harsher climates often see lower humidity, which requires extra hydrating skincare for defense. Moisturize at least twice daily. In the morning, moisturizers are the perfect base for your makeup to avoid flaky skin while you’re out and about. Complement it with nourishing foundations for smooth, flawless coverage, and toss a compact foundation with moisturizer in your bag to reapply on the go. For intensive hydration, consider denser moisturizing creams like Artistry Supreme LX Regenerating Cream and Eye Cream, which also have anti-aging benefits. “These formulas contain multiphase technology to replenish, energize, repair and protect skin so it looks and performs more like it did when it was younger,” says Dr. Sumita Butani, global product innovation lead for Artistry by Amway. “Using moisturizers with an added anti-aging effect from powerful ingredients like gardenia grandiflora stem cell extract is particularly crucial in dry weather, when your skin is more susceptible to dullness and dryness.” If moisturizing creams feel too heavy on your skin during the day, opt for a lotion for a light and refreshing boost. Then, as you’re unwinding at night, reapplying moisturizers after removing makeup and cleansing is a great way to revitalize the skin for the day ahead. It’s like giving your skin a big glass of water! Of course, don’t forget to drink water as well. Eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about two liters, gives your skin a refreshing reservoir. Coffee, tea and soda have a diuretic effect that counteracts hydration, so try to limit your intake of those beverages.

INDULGE Indulge once in a while, inside and out. In addition to your daily skincare regimen, pick a day or two each week to pamper your skin even further with a revitalizing mineral-based mask or peel. Try moisturizing masks packed with hydrolipids to lock in moisture, and soothing fragrances, like cucumber and lavender, for a full, relaxing experience. Every now and then, take time to truly self-indulge, such as by making yourself a cup of herbal tea, soaking in a hot bath or diving into that book you’ve put on hold. "The holidays are all about focusing on quality time with family and friends, but it's also so important to invest energy into my own physical and emotional wellness so I can feel my best," says Amway Independent Business Owner Carrie Bohlig. "I practice good self-care by keeping on top of my skincare regimen and making time for my at-home spa treatment using Artistry Renewing Peel. I also hit the gym, get outside and eat a well-rounded diet so I can really make the most of special holiday time with my loved ones!" By taking care of yourself from the inside out and investing in high quality skincare, you’ll be able to feel and look great as you enjoy the winter months and make memories to cherish.
