Editor's Desk Just think of the courage and selflessness it took to do such a thing. We are all living like people whose parachutes are entangled. Nobody is willing to sacrifice his or her own interest, so everyone suffers. In so many circumstances of our life we are unconsciously making a choice to help ourselves rather than others. This is, in a way understandable. In the modern world, instant personal gratification is considered by many to be the very goal and purpose of life. But imagine the state of the world, if nature functioned by this principle. Human beings can learn a lot by observing Mother Nature, for example, take an apple tree. It gives all its fruits to others, taking nothing for itself. Its very existence is for other living beings. Like a river it washes away everyone’s dirt, expecting nothing. It willingly accepts all impurities and returns purity sacrificing everything for others. Each and every object in this world teaches us sacrifice. If you observe closely you find that all of life is a sacrifice. Each one’s life is a story of sacrifice. The husband sacrifices his life for the wife, and the wife sacrifices hers for the husband, a mother for her children and children for their family. Each one of us is sacrificing our life in one way or other. Without sacrifice there is no world. When we do something selflessly for others without expectation, we become more expansive. Expansiveness is to experience the feeling that the self in us is the self in all. You may be surprised after reading the above paragraphs what I want to share with you. Selflessness has much important place in society, since our Movement is for SERVICE. When we say Service, itself is selflessness. Any work done without selfishness is SERVICE. When we forget “SELF” in all respect we understand the meaning of SERVICE. As the member of this organisation our prime responsibility is to make our members happy in serving the people. As the member of this volunteer organisation we must be able to convince the “PUBLIC” that we are doing any work of this organisation without any personal selfish motive. If public realise that we have monetary benefit from this organisation and we enjoy the assets of the organisation, then no public will have belief in this movement. The country is serving us by giving opportunity to do our Job. Hence we should evaluate ourself whether we are doing our job with full of honesty and integrity. Are we faithful to the organisation? Are we spreading the principles of organisation in it’s right meaning? Are we working as the ambassadors of this Movement? It is high time to have an introspection and self evaluation, so that we shall extend our hands to make the organisation more strong.
