Personally Speaking
viuh ckr One more month to say adieu to the year 2022. Of course, the year-end is going to give us a historical participation in first ever International Cultural Jamboree being hosted by Karnataka State from December 21 to 27 at Moodibidri. The host state has been doing its best to create a comfortable camping. It is a good opportunity to the participants to share cultural heritage of their states and countries. It is one of the methods established by the Founder of the Movement to promote integration of various cultures all over the globe so as to foster international brotherhood and world peace. I expect all the states to utilize this great opportunity to send their youth with required preparation to display their talents reflecting cultural heritage. I wish everyone to participate in full spirit adjusting to the new environment and enjoy the mega event in full swing taking all precautions regarding health.

there is hope, love, light and life, the plan and purpose of God will reach. We should develop the habit of giving to others which is an act of sacrifice. Christmas is about giving, not grabbing. We can give without loving but we cannot love without giving. I expect our scouts and guides to implement this principle while taking souvenirs from others.

TRAINER’S CORNER RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRAINERS IN JAMBOREES Very shortly we are going to experience the participation in two Jamborees -one in December 2022 and the other in January 2023. This is the first time that The Bharat Scouts and Guides is organizing two mega events with a gap of one week in between the two events. Thousands of Scouts and Guides are going to display their skills and enjoy the fun besides participation of a number of countries. The National Headquarters has been coordinating with the host states to make the events successful in all respects. All the participating states will be sending the trainers along with their contingents. Such events are a great opportunity for both the young and adults to learn and enjoy. As unit leaders or as trainers, we have to prepare our scouts and guides to participate in the activities and bring awards. • Follow the daily routine of the jamboree and accordingly get ready and keep your scouts and guides ready. • Punctuality in all respects should be observed because activities take place in different areas as per scheduled time. Follow the Jamboree bulletin and guidelines therein. • Adult leaders should be with their contingents of scouts and guides throughout the activities. • Ensure that the scouts and guides are in perfect uniform. If any shortage, they should be advised to go to the NHQ equipment store and buy the required material. It is obvious that we should be in complete uniform when we are moving out in the jamboree area. • Keep the time schedule of activities and the place where the scouts and guides have to report and guide them. • Make preview of the activities which are for competition like Inspection, March Past, Skill activities, Cultural activities. We should expect national level performance in our scouts and guides. • Make sure that your state participates in all the events.

• Permit your participants to go round all the states with a note book and a pen to observe the gates, gadgets, cleanliness and make sketches. • Instruct your scouts and guides to make friends with scouts and guides of other states and exchange souvenirs. As adults, we should strictly instruct them that they should not be mere receivers but they should carry some souvenirs from their states for exchange. They should remember that exchange is a two way process. • Follow the instructions of the concerned Contingent Leaders. • As adult leaders, it is a unique opportunity for self-development as many experienced trainers from other states will be available. Interact with them on technical side. • Take time to go round the other states when you are free from the assigned responsibility to collect new and innovative ideas with regard to pioneering skills, gadgets of special nature which may be new to you and take photos. • Health of your scouts and guides is to be observed. In case of even a small problem, let them not hesitate and you also don`t hesitate to inform the Contingent Leader. • See that the camping area allotted to your contingent is maintained clean in all respects and always. • Patrol System should be implemented and Patrol Leaders should be given the responsibility to take care of their Patrol besides leading them to various activities. • Have Patrol Leaders` meeting daily at the end of the day and prepare them for next day`s activities. • As far as meeting the guest contingents from overseas, we have to follow the instructions and restrictions but we have to follow ethics. Let us remember `Quality of Trainer depends on Quality of Scouting in their respective areas`. Finally, act according to the situation but our aim is that our scouts and guides should satisfy with the participation in such national events under your guidance. - D. R. K.
