ST71 GENERAL MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL

The st71 General Meeting of the National Council of the Bharat Scouts and Guides was held on th28 November, 2021 under the Chairmanship of Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Hon’ble President, Bharat Scouts and Guides.

This was the last meeting of the National Council for the existing term 2016-2021. Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides welcomed all the members of the Council. Members from various State Association of the Bharat Scouts and Guides attended the meeting physically as well as virtually and took active part in the deliberation. Achievements of the activities of the Organisation undertaken during 20202021 were presented through Power Point Presentation. Hon’ble President Dr. Anil Kumar Jain praised the activities being organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides during 2016-2021. The Returning Officer Shri R.K. Kaushik, Director, Bharat Scouts and Guides announced the result of the winners for the election of the Office Bearers for the next term 2021-2026 in the meeting. The following Office Bearers were declared elected unopposed of the Bharat Scouts and Guides for the next term 2021-2026.

Various agenda items were discussed and brain stormed for the development of this largest Youth Organisation in the country. Important decisions were taken and approved for further implementation at Pan India Level. Newly elected Office Bearers were also felicitated in the meeting.

Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Hon’ble President, Bharat Scouts and Guides presented awards of various National Level Competitions held in the organisation during the year 2020. An exhibition depicting various activities and project undertaken by the Bharat Scouts and Guides were displayed which was visited by all the Office Bearers present in the meeting and lauded the praiseworthy display in the exhibition.

UPSKILLING OUR NATION'S YOUNG WORKFORCE

A series of National Level Webinar on "Upskilling our Nation's Young Workforce" was organised by the National Headquarters – New Delhi on every Wednesday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m starting from 8th December 2021 through Zoom Cloud Meeting & YouTube Channel of BSG-India. The theme of the webinar was “Skilled Youth - Nation’s pride ”with the objective to motivate a large number of youth to take up skill development training. The training was focused on how to do something specific and results in a learned skill that can be put to immediate use to become self-reliant.

The Webinar – 1 started with Career Counselling – “Para Legal and Advocacy Skills” by resource speaker Mr. Abinash Narzary, a lawyer by profession and currently working as a Programme Manager for ‘Social Action For Human Rights’ (SAFHR), a rights-based voluntary organisation of Guwahati. The speaker gave importance on what is Advocacy Skill & Para Legal Persons; What are the opportunities available in government sector as well as in private sectors etc.

Shri Amar B. Chettri, Jt. Director (S) of BSG-India motivated the participants to work to build a nation so that India can contribute a lot to create a better world in the coming days.

The webinar was conducted under the leadership of Shri Analendra Sarma, Assistant Director, NERBSG with the assistance of Ms. Anima Daimarhi Eka (Assam), Ms. Ankita Pandey (N.F. Rly), Ms. Priyanka Prajapat (Rajasthan), Mr. Jahangir Pasha (NHQ) and whole team #BSG4Skillyouth. More than 500 members participated in this webinar through Zoom and Youtube.

SCOUTS OF THE WORLD AWARD DISCOVERY WORKSHOP

The Scouts Of The World Award Discovery Workshop was conducted by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarter at Doddaballapur, Karnataka from 4th to 8th December 2021 in

which 124 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, South Central Railway, Southern Railway, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh participated. In the history of The Bharat Scouts and Guides, it was the first-ever workshop being organized for young people below 26 years of age. Scouts of the world award is an initiative of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, which is the highest award for any scouts and non-scouts receives after completing their 80 hours service project and uploading on scout.org. Mr. Madhusudan Avala, WOSM consultant was the Leader of the workshop, and Mrs. Kumud Mehra, Assistant Director, Southern Region was the event co-ordinator from NHQ.

The participants were divided into 4 groups namely - Tiger, Iguana, Nightingale, and Ostrich. They were told about Do’s and Don’t s of the camp and were asked to voice out their personal expectations from the workshop and were briefly described the objectives of the workshop which was coordinated by Mr. Saran and Miss. Ayantika. The young people were all set to discover the problems back in their community and how they could contribute to make this world a better place. Mr. Madhusudan Avala took session on the Scouts of the World Award through various activities exploring the essence of scouting and guiding. The participants learned about the Scout donation platform, Dialogue for Peace, scout.org and Patrimonito Badge. The young staff members - Ayantika, Karthik, Sarathraj, Saran, Ashwin, Madhusudan LN, and Monish delivered sessions on 2 SDG goals respectively where the participants interacted actively and also discussed how they can implement those goals. After a successful session on MOP, four MOP stations were organised and the participants had to complete all 4 stations. Station 1 was STORYTELLING coordinated by Mr. Monish, Station 2 - WHAT PEACE MEANS TO YOU coordinated by Miss Ayantika, Station -3 ALELE SONG coordinated by Mr. Karthik and Mr. Saranraj and Station 4 NETWORKING GAME coordinated by Mr. Sarathraj. The participants gave a wonderful performance during the grand campfire and ethnic fashion show exhibiting their rich culture and heritage.

During 5-days workshop, the participants got to discover themselves and submit their action plan based on their development project. Mr. Amar B. Chettri, Joint Director Scouts (Programme & Training) connected virtually with the young people and blessed the participants. Shri P.G.R.

Sindhia, State Chief Commissioner, Karnataka BSG, and Secretary-General President-In-Council, BSG inspired the youths by talking on Sustainable Development Goals and launched the official website of Scouts of the World Award India designed by Mr. Ashwin Palani.

Mr. M.A. Khalid, Additional Chief National Commissioner of BSG India and Mrs. Radha Venkatesh, State Commissioner (Guide) BSG Karnataka were present in the closing ceremony and gave away the participation certificates to the participants.

NATIONAL LEVEL ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters organized National Level Environment Awareness Programme for family members at Trikuta Bhawan Katra, Reasi J&K from th13 to th17 November, 2021 in which 104 participants from 11 states participated. The camp was inaugurated by the Station House Officer of Police Station, Katra. A rally on Environmental Awareness cum Cleanliness Drive was organized which was highly appreciated by the citizens of Katra. Presentation of "Nukkad Natak, near Katra bus stand was made the people aware about the importance of cleanliness. All the participants went to Patni top, situated in district Udhampur and joined the closing ceremony of HWB Course for Scout Masters of J&K. An interactive session on "Environmental Awareness" was also conducted. The session was interesting which included the problem arising in the environment and the remedies to those problems. v The camp was started with trekking to Mata Vaishno Devi temple, Bhaironath temple, and Ardhkuvari temple which was about 30 Km. The participants walked continuously almost for 22 hours. v The Grand Campfire was graced by the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vashino Devi Shrine Board, Katra. Other dignitaries of District Administration, Citizens of Katra, officials of State Headquarters, Shri I.D. Soni, Former State Commissioner (S), Shri M.M. Joshi, State Commissioner(Adult Resources)and other district officials of Reasi. The camp was conducted by Shri Mahinder Sharma, Regional Organizing Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Northern Region with the assistance of invited staff members.

NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE, PACHAMRHI

HIMALAYA WOOD BADGE COURSE FOR CUB MASTERS

The Himalaya Wood Badge Course for Cub Masters was held at National Training Centre Pachmarhi thfrom 11 thto 17 November, 2021 in which 43 Cub Masters from 11 States participated. Shri Vikram Singh Chouhan, LT(C) , M.P. and Shri Krishna B. Dambalkar, LT(C) of Maharashtra were the leaders of the courses respectively.

HIMALAYA WOOD BADGE COURSE FOR ROVER SCOUT LEADERS

The Himalaya Wood Badge Course for Rover Scout Leaders was held at National Training Centre Pachmarhi from th11 to th17 November, 2021 in which 42 Rover Scout Leaders from 11 States participated. Shri R. K. Tiwari, Leader Trainer (Rover) Madhya Pradesh was the Leader of the course. The PreCourse assignments for these courses were designed to enable the participants to come prepared to take part in the learning situations effectively which were based on skills required to train the youth as per APRO Part II and the service oriented progressive training designed by the Bharat Scouts and Guides.

HIMALAYA WOOD BADGE COURSES FOR SCOUT MASTERS

The Himalaya Wood Badge Courses for Scout Masters were held at National Training Centre Pachmarhi from th19 to th25 November, 2021 in which 110 Scout Masters from 19 States participated. Dr. S. K. Dwivedi, LT (S), Shri B. L. Sharma, LT (S), Madhya Pradesh and Shri Prashant Gaikwad, LT (S) Maharashtra were the Leader of the three courses. Emphasis was given on survival skills based on the Youth Programme covered from Pratham Sopan till Tritiya Sopan and needs based on the characteristics of young people. The natural environment of NTC Pachmarhi was utilized to optimum and the hills, lakes and plateau of Pachmarhi was utilized to demonstrate the pioneering skills of the participants. The Assistant Leader Trainers who were invited to gain experience on designing, planning and execution of Himalaya Wood Badge Course as Pre-Condition to undergo course for Leader Trainers made excellent efforts in counselling and supporting the course participants. All the courses were directed by the team lead by Shri Krishnaswamy R., Executive Director, National Training Centre, Pachmarhi.

NATIONAL YOUTH ADVENTURE INSTITUTE, GADPURI

NATIONAL LEVEL SERVICE CAMP FOR ROVERS

National Level Service Camp for Rovers under the banner FIT INDIA was conducted at National Youth Complex, Gadpuri from th07 to th13 December, 2021 in which 42 participants from Bihar, Eastern Railway, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Northern Railway, N.E. Railway and Rajasthan took part. Participants went for the NYC Campus tour with an objective to find out the service areas and service work as per their group expectations and according to the materials available at NYC, Gadpuri. During the camp days participants rendered tremendous service to the Camp site like – Grass Cutting, Tree branches cutting, firewood cutting, cleanliness of surroundings, help in the kitchen Area, etc. On th11 December, 2021 participants were divided in 2 groups for the contribution towards Flag Day Stickers. They covered Ballabgarh and Palwal and spread the positive massage of the Scouting in the community and had good impression from the local public.

On th13 December, 2021 After the Final Inspection, Open session, evaluation and final talk, Participants were given the session on U-Reporter and made all as a U-reporter and also motivated them to participate in the programmes of other National Adventure Institute of BSG. The camp was conducted by Mr. Dhanraj Saini, Office Secretary Leader of the Camp under the overall supervision of Camp Coordinator Ms. Shivangi Saxena, Assistant Director, NYC, Gadpuri.

NATIONAL YOUTH ADVENTURE PROGRAMME

The National Youth Adventure Programme was conducted at Manali, Himachal Pradesh under the thbanner Fit India from 15 thto 19 December, 2021 in which 46 participants from Andhra Paradesh, Eastern Railway, Karnataka, North Central Railway, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu and West Bengal participated.
