BSG – DIGITAL SMART GENERATION, SURF SMART 2.0

The Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters has organized BSG – DIGITAL SMART GENERATION, SURF SMART 2.0, Virtual Master Trainers training from 6th to 11th October, 2021 at 4:30 to 6:30 PM IST. Knowing how to protect yourself online is an essential skill for young people today. The workshop brings the non-formal education curriculum to support young people to connect safely and positively online.

There were 5 main activity sections and #BETHECHANGEONLINE work activity in the curriculum. Within each of the five sections there are number of activities and two activities in each were selected to respond to different contexts, ages, learning needs and objectives. Facilitators ensured that the participants complete one activity in each section. Around 75 members including Rovers, Rangers and Unit Leaders participated and got trained. On the 2nd day of the workshop, Mr. Rakshit Tandon, Founder, Director, Hacker Shala Head Capacity Building joined us on 8th October, 2021 to share the knowledge in regard to the internet safety and cyber bullying. It is a unique resource which will ensure a generation of Youth to have the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and others online.

GENERATION EQUALITY UNLOCKED & WAY FORWARD, INDIA

The Bharat Scouts and Guides unlocked Generation Equality on 8th of October. Participants across India were made aware about Beijing 25+, Action coalitions, who are the WAGGGS Team for generation equality. Raising strong voice for Irreversible Progress towards gender equality and the empowerment everywhere, addressed the polarization and pushback, Youth Leadership in setting the agenda going forward.

Ms. M.N. Machamma, Deputy Director Leader Trainer Guides, started the session with her warm welcome speech. Ms. Amelia Swer, International Commissioner of Guides, addressed Generation Equality Campaign’s motto. Ms. Ritah Muyambo, Program Specialist, Civil Society Division Youth and Faith Engagement at UN Women Headquarters represented the actions been taken to bring in

equality in the world. Ms. Doricas Kinyonga, Gender Equality Advocate – Tanzania narrated the difficulties and urgency of bringing the change immediately through a heart touching poem. WAGGGS Team for Generation Equality shared their experience of Mexico and Paris Forum. Ms. Chamathya Fernando, introduced Global Youth Task Force and how are adolescents and youth engagement at the national, regional, and global level for Generation Equality. Important Panel Discussion Space for implementable changes that will make difference was held by Ms. Seema Samridhi - Advocate Supreme Court, India, Ms. Chamathya World Board Member of WAGGGS, Youth Focal Point Generation Equality Youth TaskForce, Mr. Jitesh Seth, Deputy National Commissioner of Rovers, BSG. Mr. Rajkumar Kaushik, Director BSG shared how Bharat Scouts and Guides is continuously progressing to bring Gender Equality in the organization.

The influential workshop ended with a strong message and vote of thanks by Ms. Darshana Pawaskar, Joint Director, Guides, BSG. Help the people who have been asked to stay silent for too long. Help them to be Heard.

HER WORLD, HER VOICE (UPS)

Happily announcing Ms. Bhagyashri Prabhavale, State Project Coordinator, Maharashtra as a Star of the October month. She is a dedicated BSG leader who ensures that each and everyone in scouting-guiding gets equal opportunities and believes in doing her work efficiently. Congratulations to Maharashtra state as well for their constant support &contribution in bringing Equity, Empowerment & Engagement to BSG.

HELEN STORROW POP-UP SEMINAR

Helen Storrow Pop-up seminar was organised by The Bharat scouts and guides National Headquarters from 1st October 2021 to 23rd October 2021.By joining Helen Storrow, participants has learnt more about environmental issues and how to take suitable a c t i o n i n community, in order to carry out a project to protect the environment. This is a strong foundation to do many good things in the future, as well as helping to develop leadership skills and confidence.

55TH WORLD SANGAM DAY CELEBRATION

The Bharat scouts and Guides National Headquarter has celebrated the 55th Sangam Day on 16th October 2021 @4:00PM – 5:30PM. The opening ceremony started with General Salute. After prayer, a warm welcome address was delivered by Darshana Pawaskar, Joint Director, guide programme and training, A short welcome video was played for all our dignitaries. Smt. Geetha Natraj vice President BSG/NHQ and State Commissioner (Guide) Karnataka shared valuable words and experiences with the participants.

Then a beautiful video was played covering the all the five World centres. After this another video was played which was a virtual tour to Sangam world centre, Pune India. Next to this a beautiful dance was played on speak up, speak out song by Melinda Caroll singer. Composer, record producer, a Life time member of WAGGGS shared a lots of things with the participants. A video was played showing the activities of 6 Niveditha unit. Later an interview session was held with Miss. Priyanka who was an active volunteer of Sangam and who also visited Pax Lodge. She also shared her experience.

Miss. Adele Lynch-Global Programme Coordinator at Sangam shared inspiring words. Smt. Amelia Swer International Commissioner Guide came on screen to encourage the participants and celebrate Sangam Day. Later Dr. Raj Kumar Kaushik Director, BSG NHQ gave the closing remarks.

Miss. Himanshi Tomar, project manager for Her World Her Voice, NHQ proposed vote of thanks. Event ended with National Anthem. The whole event was hosted by Miss. Shimti and Priyanka Prajapat.

INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY 2021

The Bharat Scouts and Guides National Headquarters organized International Girl Child day 2021.

The opening ceremony started after the arrival of the Guests with General Salute and BSG Prayer. After prayer a short Welcome video was played for all our dignitaries. To encourage girls for education, an impactful video was played on "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao". A warm welcome address was delivered by “Amelia Swer" International Commissioner (G), NHQ. Announcement of the Slogan competition winners was made. Dr. (Smt.) Vimla Meghwal, Vice President of the Bharat Scouts and Guides blessed the participants. She shared her views and opinions with all the participants to encourage them. A wonderful inspirational video on Rise for Good, let's change the

meaning of # ”Ladki haath se nikal jayegi” was played. “The Speak Up, Speak Out” dance by our participants was played on screen. Smt. Amelia Swer, International Commissioner Guide, NHQ declared the result of Dance competition. Dr. Raj Kumar Kaushik, Director, The Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters shared his views and closing remarks.

After that Ms. Darshana Pawaskar, Joint Director of Guide (Programme and Training), NHQ proposed vote of thanks. The event came to an end with National Anthem.

The whole event was hosted by Miss M.G. Abirami and Miss Geetha. Total 50 participants through zoom and 59 participants through YouTube channel attended the international Girl Child day celebration.
