INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

To Commemorate the International Day of Peace, National Level Webinar on World Scout Programme was organised by the National Headquarters from 19 – 21 September, 2021. On 19th September, 2021 Resource Speaker Mr. Syed Castillo, Director, Educational Method, WSB/Asia Pacific Support Centre has shared the views on the Topic entitled “earthtribe” with the youths.

On 20th September, 2021 Resource Speaker Mrs. Cynthia Marquez, Senior Manager, Educational initiatives and Messenger of Peace, World Scout Bureau, Global Support Centre has explained the youth how to post/upload their story in SDG HUB sdgs.scout.org

On 21st September, 2021 Mr. S. Prassanna Shrivastava, Director Organizational Development and Messenger of Peace, World Scout Bureau/Asia Pacific Support Centre has shared the views on the Theme of IDP 2021 and encouraged the youths of the Country about the Messenger of Peace.

The grand celebration of International Day of Peace was held on 21st Sept, 2021 at 04.00 P.M. in which Mr. Ahmad Alhandawi, Secretary General WOSM greeted the members of BSG and motivated the Youth of the Country with his video recorded speech.

Shri P.G. R Sindhia, Secretary General, President in Council, Shri K.P. Mishra, Vice President, BSG, Shri J.C. Mohanty, International Commissioner (S), Shri Madhusudan Avala, Dy. International Commissioner (S) and Mrs. Amelia Swer, International Commissioner (G) of the Bharat Scouts and Guides blessed the youth and appreciated the initiative of NHQ on Peace activities. Shri Raj Kumar Kaushik, Director BSG in his closing remarks expressed his gratitude to World Scout Bureau for supporting BSG in organising World Scout Programme Webinar for the benefit of Scouts/Guides.

Total 2885 candidates registered for the Webinar. The webinar was on ZOOM and was live streamed on BSG Youtube Channel. The webinar was organised under the leadership of Shri Amar B. Chettri, Jt. Director of Scouts (Prog. & Trg.), Bharat Scouts and Guides with the support of Mr. Analendra Sarma, Assistant Director, BSG, N.E. Region and Mr. Bablu Goswami, I/c Assistant Director, Eastern Region of BSG respectively.

JAMBOREE ON THE AIR (JOTA) AND THE JAMBOREE ON THE INTERNET (JOTI)

The Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and the Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) - 2021 was celebrated at the Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters, New Delhi on 16th and 17th October 2021. 122 participants and staff from Delhi, Northern Railway, N.C.Railway, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh states participated in the event. The event was started with Registration and BSG Prayer. On 16th October the event was inaugurated by Mr Arun Kumar - Professor and HAM Radio Operator. Shri Arup Sarkar - Dy. Director of Scouts (Boy Programme) gave the introduction of JOTA JOTI and the information about different stations at NHQ. Shri Sarju Prasad Mishra, Unit Leader, and HAM operator briefed about HAM Radio and its importance during a disaster. Shri Mahinder Sharma - ROC(S) of the Northern Region divided the participants into five groups and coordinated the stations.

Accordingly, five stations were installed at NHQ. Two HAM stations, one Echo link, and two JOTI stations operated by the experts. Participants enjoyed the day at all the bases. As part of the event Quiz, Drawing competition and Essay writing competition were conducted.

Day two was inaugurated by Ms Darshana Pawaskar Joint Director (Guides) and I/C Joint Director (Support Service). Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers were connected through HAM Radio and Echo link at different places and countries. They also enjoyed the JOTA JOTI Hub of WOSM, drawing and quiz competitions.

Prizes for competitions and participation certificates were also distributed. The event was conducted by Shri Arup Sarkar, Dy. Director of Scouts (Boy Programme) assisted by Shri Mahinder Sharma, ROC(S), Northern Region and other staff from NHQ.

MEMBERSHIP GROWTH

STATE MEMBERSHIP GROWTH COORDINATORS TRAINING WORKSHOP

The Scouting movement is creating a better citizen, a better community, and a better world, and recently all the states in India have been overcome the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, the Bharat Scouts and Guides proved its well presence and importance in the society in terms of covid warriors, awareness programs, youth engagement activities, etc. all over India.

For the second time, the Bharat Scouts and Guides organized the State Membership Growth Coordinators Training Workshop at the National Headquarters, New Delhi from 19th to 21st September 2021. Though it was quite challenging to organize any face-to-face gathering because still some of the states have their own covid restrictions and also all have precautions for the 3rd wave of Covid-19 Pandemic. But a team of state coordinators was able to show their keen interest with their valuable presence, inputs and contributed towards the State Membership Growth Plans. There was good participation from 15 States like Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Jamiat Youth Club, Maharashtra, North Central Railway, North Eastern Railway, North Western Railway, Puducherry, South Western Railway, South East Central Railway, Southern Railway, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

The workshop started with a Solomon Integration and Welcome Ceremony at 09:00 AM on 19th September 2021 in which Mrs. Darshana Pawaskar - Joint Director (Guides) joined as the chief guests and lightened the lamp. Shri S Prasanna Shrivastava, Director, Organizational Development and MoP - APR, WOSM and Mr. Goran – Growth Manager, WOSM connected virtually and facilitated the workshop.

Day one and two of the workshop had planned to input the knowledge about the Membership Growth strategy, group discussions, and brainstorming sessions, etc. Participants showed a keen interest and did their best to grab all the success techniques in the sessions. Day three was kept mainly for participant's group activities and all the 15 participants completed their assignments to create a realistic Membership Growth Plan for their respective states under the guidance and supervision of WOSM and NHQ experts.

Everyday activities had started with BSG Prayers, Reflection, and Report of the last day activities from participants. Membership Growth Cell personals of BSG assisted the workshop under the leadership of Shri Arup Sarkar, Dy. Director of Scouts (Boy Programme) and Growth Manager ably assisted by Shri Manoj Kumar Nayak – Assistant Growth Manager, BSG and Mrs. Sumeeta Datta – Assistant, Membership Growth Cell.

The three days training program was closed with a wonderful closing ceremony, where Hon’ble Director of the BSG Shri Raj Kumar Kaushik ji graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Mrs. Darshana Pawaskar – Jt. Director (G), Shri Amar B Chettri-Joint Director (S), Ms. M.N.Machamma - DDG(LT), Shri Siddharth Mohanty – Project Officer. Oath-Taking ceremony of 15 State Membership Growth Coordinators and certificate distribution ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Director of the BSG and other NHQ Professionals.

EASTERN REGION

Online Youth Management System The Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides conducted Workshop on “Online Youth Management System” at State Headquarters, Bhubaneswar on 07th & 08th October 2021 for 51 participants from 26 districts. The Workshop was virtually inaugurated by Honourable Vice President of BSG and State Chief Commissioner Dr. K. P. Mishra in the presence of Shri Bablu Goswami, Assistant Director, Eastern Region. Shri Sarat Chandra Paikaray, State Secretary, Bhabani Prasad Mishra, State Treasurer, Smt. Anamika Das, State Organising Commissioner (Guide) and Administrative Officer, Shri. Mihir Ranjan Pattanaik, Joint State Secretary, Smt. Priyadarshini Mohapatra, STC (Guide) and Shri Surajit Sen, STC(S) were also present.

This event is meant to register the members of Odisha State in the OYMS portal. During the workshop, participants learned how to register the Group, Unit Leaders and Individuals in this portal. After the registration every registered member received Login Id Password and UID No through this portal. During the Workshop, session on Messenger of Peace initiative was taken for the district officials of Odisha state who came from the different districts for OYMS Training. In the session they learned about uploading the project on SDG Hub.

The workshop was conducted by Bablu Goswami, Assistant Director I/C with the help of Shri Santosh Deo, Shri Anil Kumar Mohanty and Shri Abhinash Ganda Nayak professional of Odisha state Bharat Scouts and Guides.

NORTH EAST REGION

Virtual Patrol Leader Jamborette Patrol System is the centre of success of the Scout-Guide movement. And Patrol Leaders play the most important part of its success. Patrol Leader Jamborette is an opportunity to renew Skill and expose once hidden talent and open the various sources of knowledge and skill which may be implemented in near future for the development of the Units.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides organised Patrol Leaders Jamborette virtually from 24th to 28th September, 2021 from 03 - 06 PM. Various topics on Skill and Knowledge like Patrol System, PIC -

Patrol Corner - COH, Scouts4SDGs, Proficiency Badges, WOSM & WAGGGS and its Initiatives, Practical Skill like- Pioneering, First-Aid, Mapping and competition like - QUIZ, Extempore Speech, Folk Dance etc. were covered.

The Jamborette was participated by 50+ Scouts and Guides from 07 States of N E Region and was supported by a team of experienced Trainers of the Region. It was inaugurated by Mrs. Amelia Swer, International Commissioner of Guides. BSG on 24th September in the presence of Shri Rajkumar Kaushik, Director, BSG.

The closing ceremony of the Jamborette was graced by the Dy. Director of Guide Leader Training, BSG Ms. M. N. Machamma and other dignitaries along with Mrs. Amelia Swer, International Commissioner of Guides at 5:00 PM on 28th September. Young people enjoyed the programme.

WESTERN REGION

64th World Jamboree On The Air / 25th World Jamboree On The Internet held at National Youth Complex, Gadpuri, Haryana on 16th& 17th October, 2021. On first day 135 Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers and Unit Leaders from Faridabad and Palwal District along with 07 Staff members participated. On second day 93 Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers and Unit Leaders from Faridabad and Palwal District along with 10 staff member participated. Mr. Pradeep Kumar given brief information about JOTA (what is HAM, Eco link and How to operate the system). The participants were divided into Three groups . 1. Web chat on Scout Link 2. HAM Radio and Eco link 3. Drawing & Painting Competition.

Through Scout link chat, participants connected with different country members and participants and through zoom to National Headquarters, New Delhi and National Training Centre Pachmarhi.

Participation certificates and prizes for competition were distributed to the participants on both the days. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Shivangi Saxena, Assistant Director with the assistance of other staff members.

NATIONAL ADVENTURE INSTITUTE, SNOW VIEW, KURSEONG, DARJEELING (WEST BENGAL)

The National Level Service Camp for Rovers was conducted at National Adventure Institute, Snow View, Kurseong, Darjeeling (West Bengal) from 27th September to 3rd October, 2021 in which 46 Rovers from North Frontier Railway, North Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway, West Central Railway, Northern Railway, East Central Railway, South Western Railway and South Eastern Railway participated. Smt. Shurekha Shrivastava, Dy. Director, NAI was the Leader of the camp assisted by Mr. Vivek Kumar Das, Jr. Instructor, Miss. Kanchan Roy, Office Secretary, (intern), Shri Anup Chhetri, DOC, Alipurdwar, Shri Deepak Kumar, East Central Railway, West Bengal and invited staff.

On the first day reporting started, following all the Covid guidelines. As per the programme participants went for sightseeing to Eagle Carg. They enjoyed the beauty of the lush green tea garden around and were very happy. From second day Service rovers started the cleaning work as per work distribution. While cleaning off unwanted plants Rovers caught some Snakes and released them in safer places as we protect animals and love nature. On 29th September, 2021 Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Wing Commander, Chief administrative officer, Air Force Station, Kurseong visited to encourage the participants for their work. A small programme was organized by the participants and the staff of NAI. The chief guest delivered a Hindi poem and motivational speech about the lifestyle of the army which was enjoyed by all the participants. All the given work was completed on 1st October by all the service rovers. Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 2nd October with All Faith Prayer and cleaning the camp site. Service Rovers were sent to HMI for activity and sightseeing. At night in grand camp fire Service Rovers presented two symbolic acts on swatch Bharat Sundar Bharat and Covid Awareness. Shri Jogendra Prasad, State Commissioner (C) joined the programme to give blessings and he thanked the participants for their excellent work.

The 4th National Adventure Programme was conducted at National Adventure Institute, Snow View Kurseong, Darjeeling from 4th to 08th October, 2021 under the Leadership of Smt. Surekha Shrivastava Dy. Director, NAI with the assistance of Mr. Vivek Kumar Das – Jr. Instructor, along with Invited staff Mr. Anup Chhetri, D.O.C, Alipurdwar and Mr. Deepak Kumar, HWB, East Central Railway. Total 30 participants from Rajasthan (3), Uttar Pradesh (3), West Bengal (2) and Uttarakhand (22) attended the programme

During the programme, participants visited different places HMI Darjeeling – they did activities such as Obstacles Crossings, zoo and historical museum which describes about the life of a mountaineer and their belongings. Trek to Eagle Crag, Dow Hill forest, Museum of Freedom Fighter Shri Subash Chandra Bose were the other attractive activities. Shri Jogendra Prasad, State Commissioner (Cub), West Bengal was present the grand campfire on 07th October, 2021.
