Rambling Thoughts It is hard to believe that we are at the end of another month and that 2018 is halfway over. I remember my parents always telling me that the older you get, the faster time goes. The events are really buzzing by with Hazen (the A.B.A.T.E. state party), Thunder in the Valley, and several others in the rear-view mirror. There are runs every weekend weather permitting and we still have some great rallies coming up, like Bike Fest of Erie, Roar on the Shore, and East Coast Sturgis. I have been in touch with Jamboozie Customs, and hope to bring you more information about their upcoming events and happenings. Keep your eyes peeled I heard their bike will be on the cover of a future issue of The Horse Back Street Choppers. There are several changes this year in our coverage of events. First, if we post the event online, you may download the photos for free to be used for any noncommercial use. If you need a printing release, please let me know. We are only able to cover so many events; normally only one per Saturday. If you want to take photos of your event and write a brief summary, please send them to thebikerstradingpost@gmail.com Finally, we now have a 10x10 vendor display at some local events. We bring flyers for other events, information about us, shirts and other merchandise for sale, and occasionally, one of the models from our magazine is available to give autographs and pose for photos with attendees and their bikes. Crawford County A.B.A.T.E. June Jam

I was approached by a lovely young lady recently who told me I should attend the June Jam put on by the Crawford County A.B.A.T.E. It was one of the most relaxed, enjoyable weekends that I have had in a long time. They had a Bug Run, a Breakfast Ride, bike games, people games, vendors, and a great band on Saturday. The events were nice, attracting a smaller group of several first-time attendees. After watching the pickle contest, I now know who is a spitter and who is a swallower. They had plenty of space and enough wood to keep the bonfire going all night, fostering some great conversations around it. It was fun to be able to just hang out with people at an old-style party. I hope to have the opportunity to do it again next year. See more photos here

I made the annual trip down to see the gang at the open house by Lutz s Leathers. As always, they had an outstanding crowd, great music, plenty of good food, and plenty to drink. There is always a great assortment of bikes hanging around, and some friends that I seldom get to see. Humor to relieve stress Lost Interest In Sex A woman is very distressed because she has not been married very long, and yet her husband has lost interest in having sex. So, she goes to see her doctor, and relays the problem. The doctor doesn't seem worried at all and tells her that this is nothing serious, that her husband has merely lost his animal instincts. The doctor tells her to crumble some dog biscuits on her husband's cereal every morning without telling him, and little by little this will bring out the savage beast in him. TWINS The other day my neighbor, who is blonde, came running up to me in the driveway just jumping for joy! 9 Years Old An Alberta farmer drove to his neighbor s house in his pickup. He stepped out of the truck, walked up to the front door with a deliberate stride, and knocked firmly. Once upon a time there lived a King who had the most beautiful daughter. But there was a problem. Everything the princess touched would melt. No matter what: Metal, Wood,Stone Anything she touched would melt. Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her. The King despaired. What could he do to help his daughter? He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the King, 'If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured.' The King was overjoyed and came up with a plan. The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the King's wealth. THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE. The first brought a sword of the finest steel. But alas, when the Princess touched it, it melted. The prince went away sadly The second prince brought diamonds. He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, once the Princess touched them, they melted. He too was sent away disappointed. The third prince approached. He told the Princess, 'Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.' The Princess did as she was told, though she turned red. She felt some thing very hard. She held it in her hand. And it did not melt!!! The King was over joyed. Everybody in the kingdom was over joyed. And the Prince married the Princess and they both lived happily ever after Question: What was in the Prince's pants?

A Real Old Time Biker Party For weeks prior, I anticipate the yearly trip to Hazen, Pennsylvania for the annual A.B.A.T.E. of PA party. This is the only remaining old-time biker party that is still happening in the state. This event was started in 1977 and is still going strong, with the real spirit of the biker lifestyle. It is a chance to catch up with some old pals and to also make some new friends. With music and entertainment running till 4 AM, it is a hopping place. The bands included Black Bear Prodigy, Heidi and the Hellcats, Dead Level, Hot Like Molly, Black Widow, and Time Bomb. They have the best bike games of any of the events in Pennsylvania and an out-of-this-world bike show. There are always a lot of food stalls, along with biker apparel, custom t-shirts, leather goods, jewelry, and of course that painter, who was happy to paint any bare chests that he could find. The beer truck kept brews flowing and was a constant hangout spot. This is one of the most peaceful biker events that I have ever been to. This is by far the place to be. Thank you A.B.A.T.E. of PA for a job well done.

POLICE MOTORCYCLE SKILLS

FOR CIVILIAN RIDERS Advanced motorcycle skill courses include the same training exercises used by police motor officers and motorcycle rodeo competitors. Classes are conducted in a relaxed, low-stress environment by highly-qualified instructors. All classes are time in the saddle riding. No boring lectures in a classroom. Women s classes and group discounts are available. Precision and Control Course (4 hours) This is a challenging half-day class that will give riders an intimate knowledge of their bikes capabilities. Riders will learn simple techniques that will help them master their rides, and develop ultimate control over their bikes. This course will focus on slow speed and confined space maneuvers with real-life application. Advanced Rider Course (8 hours) This is a full day class for the rider that wants it all. The class will provide defensive riding, slow-speed control and confined space maneuvering skills. Learn and practice techniques that will polish your crash avoidance skills, reinforce proper emergency braking, swerving and rear-end collision avoidance. This course will teach you how to handle your bike with precision and ease, and enhance your overall road safety.

Stand Up For Veterans Motorcycle Run Celebrating their second annual event, Missy and Marcus Russell hosted Stand Down on June 23rd. Throughout the day, approximately 100 bikes came, with around one-third of those participating in the ride despite the prediction of thunder storms. Next year, with better weather, the organizers hope to reach a larger crowd of around 300 bikes. The motorcycle run is held the fourth Saturday in June. This year, the event featured great food, music from three different bands, many motorcycle clubs recognized, and a number of vendors, including Lawrence County A.B.A.T.E., Butler VA, Lawrence County Community Action Partnership Support Service, Shenango Police Departmet, New Castle Police Department, PA State Police, Sheriff s Deputies, VFW Post #315, military men and women with a truck display and large gunner, and many more. Stand Down will also host a golf outing in August, as well as an event for veterans, service members, and the homeless. It's a day to give back, and several organizations come out to educate those in need on where help is available, such as health screenings, hair cuts, free meals, clothing, and much more.
