THE CHILDERIC SADDLES LITTLE DOWNHAM HORSE TRIALS 2nd - 4th June 2017
www.elyeventing.co.uk
Welcome To The Childeric Saddles Little Downham Horse Trials 2017 Thank-you for choosing to compete at Little Downham (1) ODE, this is our 16th year of running affiliated horse trials and we are delighted to receive your entry for this fixture. Within the equestrian community, we are all aware and very grateful for the service provided by the East Anglian Air Ambulance which is a privately funded charitable organisation. The service they provide to support and assist the county ambulance service especially in rural communities is invaluable, and whilst we hope that they will not need to attend this weekend in an active role, I greatly appreciate the care and attention provided in previous years. As competitors, you all pay a start fee when collecting your numbers, and this event will be donating the start fees raised from Saturday and Sundays classes to the East Anglian Air Ambulance, and I would like to encourage you to add an extra couple of pounds into the fund when you visit the secretary this weekend. Volunteers are also a major part of any horse trial. To an outsider who has little knowledge of the eventing world the ability of an event to bring over 100 relative strangers with the common interest in horses together, and run as a team that adheres to a tight timetable is unbelievable! Yet during the event season 160 events do just this – an absolutely amazing and great feat of generosity and organisation. In 2017, we are missing some long-standing volunteers, Nigel and Pat Haslam are sadly absent, whilst Sharon Macleod and Mary Groombridge have hung up their aprons and retired from the kitchen. We are happy to welcome back an army of loyal supports, in addition to many new ‘virgin fence judges’ and experienced volunteers from other events, who have all offered to help at this fixture and their enthusiasm and commitment is crucial to the future success of the sport.
Tina Ure Since the East Anglian Air Ambulance’s launch in 2000 they have attended over 20,000 lifesaving missions, touching the lives of many thousands of people. With a crew comprising specialist pre-hospital doctors and critical-care paramedics, operating out of two high-tech helicopters from a Norwich and Cambridge base they were the first air ambulance in the country to attend helicopter emergency medical incidents in the hours of darkness to unknown and unlit sites. We encourage all our spectators, competitors, owners and volunteers to support our fundraising activities in any way they can, to support the lifesaving missions of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
