The city is hosting ward-based meetings to assess each community’s need for affordable and sustainable cultural spaces. The final ‘Making Space for Culture’ public consultation meeting for the summer will take place in Davenport Councillor Cesar Palacio’s Ward 17 on Tuesday, July 9 at the Dufferin/St. Clair Library from 6 to 8 p.m. Area residents are invited to take part in the meeting to share their input regarding the neighbourhood’s cultural infrastructure. “We have a couple of objectives with these meetings,” said Terry Nicholson, acting director of the City of Toronto’s Cultural Services. “Firstly, to update our inventory of cultural spaces in each ward; to hear from residents where they participate in cultural activities and also to hear suggestions for spaces that might be made accessible with changes to existing hours of operation or rental cost structure or to the buildings themselves.” The cultural services depart>>>residents, page 6
