As part of its mission to “promote equitable access to healthy food,” the Junction Farmers Market has raised more than $7,000 so far toward its voucher program this year. Organizers did so through the second annual night market, on Saturday at the Junction train platform on Dundas Street West, at Pacific Avenue. Comprised of local food, craft beer and Ontario wine, the evening attracted as many as 2,000 visitors. “It was an overwhelming success,” said Chris Ganowski, president of the Junction Farmers Market Board of Directors. The voucher program was developed in partnership with Four Villages Community Health Centre. Through public and private donations, the farmers market has built up a fund for the vouchers. On market day each Saturday, recipients of the vouchers are able to purchase

are distributed by staff. “You can get enough vegetables to feed a small family for the week,” Ganowski said. Visit junctionmarket.ca

Real estate investor, winery founder and philanthropist Moray Tawse and his team have plans to bring back the Art Deco Style building’s marquee and original ticket booth, he told his audience who had gathered at the Bloor-Gladstone library for a community meeting hosted by Davenport Councillor Ana Bailão, on Tuesday. “We’re keeping the whole front corner. We’re enhancing the front, restoring it to what it was in the past,” Tawse told the group of about two dozen local residents. Tawse’s goal is not only to >>>RESIDENTS, page 9
