LISA RAINFORD lrainford@insidetoronto.com It’s been a homecoming of sorts for Book City, its staff and customers. The independent bookseller recently opened its doors officially without fanfare in Bloor West Village. The bookstore has re-opened two years after leaving the neighbourhood just two doors down from where it was situated originally, between Windermere and Willard avenues.

“It’s been bonkers,” manager Sarah Ramsey told The Villager. “We’ve been busy from open to close ever since we opened. The reception has been so warm and welcoming. Everyone has had a kind word. We’re thrilled to be here. We wanted to make sure this neighbourhood had a bookstore.” Book City seized the opportunity to return to the Bloor West Village retail strip after Chapters closed its doors in February. The Runnymede Theatre-turned bookstore had become a fixture at the corner of Runnymede Road and Bloor Street West during its 15 years in business.
