08.27-28 This two-day festival celebrates visual arts and family fun in Atlanta’s signature green space. Painters, photographers, sculptors, metalworkers, glass blowers, jewelers and crafters display their work along the park’s many paths.

Sweet & zesty recipes to beat the heat

Cannoli Dip

Chickpea Salad w/ Smashed Cucumbers

16 oz. whole-milk ricotta

12 oz. Persian cucumbers

8 oz. mascarpone

Kosher salt and pepper

1/2 c. confectioners’ sugar

2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1 tsp. honey

1 tsp. grated fresh lemon zest

2 tbsp. olive oil

Kosher salt

1 tbsp. capers, drained and chopped

1 to 2 tbsp. heavy cream, if needed

1/4 tsp. dried oregano

1/2 c. mini chocolate chips, plus more for serving

1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped

Strawberries and waffle cookies, for dipping

Directions In food processor, puree until smooth, adding cream only if needed to loosen dip. Transfer to bowl and fold in chocolate chips. Serve with strawberries and cookies and sprinkle with chocolate chips if desired.

1/2 small red onion, finely chopped 1 15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed 12 oz. mixed cherry and grape tomatoes (halved or sliced) 1/2 c. flat-leaf parsley, chopped Crumbled feta cheese, for serving

Directions Whisk together lemon juice, honey, oil, capers, oregano, and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Toss in with the chopped veggies and top with crumbled cheese.

1/2 c. coconut yogurt

1 1/2 c. frozen mango

Summer Smoothies

1 medium carrot, grated

Strawberry Fields 1/2 c. coconut water

Directions In blender, puree the ingredients until smooth. To make a smoothie bowl: Transfer smoothie to bowls. Top with kiwi slices, coconut flakes, raspberries, or any toppings you prefer.

With several different species of sea turtles and countless ways to witness and learn about this shelled creature, the Golden Isles makes the perfect trip for those who are interested in discovering all that there is to know about this exceptional animal.

Spot a Sea Turtle From May through August, bales of sea turtles flock to the shores of the Golden Isles for nesting season. During your day at the beach, it’s very common to see sea turtle tracks leading from the ocean to the dry patch of sand where their nest has been constructed - a sure sign that sea turtles are nearby! It’s important that you be conscious of your surroundings and do not disturb nesting sea turtles.

Enjoy an Evening Turtle Walk Want to get a little closer to these nests? Enjoy a 2-hour guided Turtle Walk with sea turtle experts from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Programs begin with 30-minute presentation about sea turtles, current threats to their habitats and livelihood, and information about how you can help!
