This is only a small set of events in the Atlanta area; there’s plenty more to discover and fall in love with!
IN A NUTSHELL
Morningside and Ansley Park are historic midtown Atlanta neighborhoods that share a reputation for elegance, lush landscapes, beautiful parks, a 9-hole golf course known as one of the best in the state and the Atlanta Botanical Garden. With fine homes and an upscale lifestyle, these are neighborhoods that attract the “movers and shakers” of Atlanta business and culture.
GETTING AROUND
These are compact neighborhoods close to the urban heart of Atlanta. Walking paths and park trails are well used and the Morningside Nature Preserve boasts 30 acres of largely undeveloped woods. Clean and green are concepts taken seriously in these neighborhoods, and residents are as apt to hop aboard a MARTA rail car or step onto a city bus as they are to take a private car any place within the metropolitan area. Carpooling is also encouraged by the Georgia Clean Air Campaign.
THE SCENE
Residents of these two iconic neighborhoods walk the walk and talk the talk. Recycling is a way of life; and fresh, natural and local are more than just buzzwords. The Morningside Farmers Market operates Saturdays all year long, and the Piedmont Park Green Market is a popular local destination for fresh produce. Ansley Park is reputed to be not only one of the most beautiful, but one of the five most expensive Atlanta neighborhoods.
THE BACKSTORY
Local pride knows no bounds, and community action is a way of life. The High Museum Wine Auction is the largest annual fundraising event held in Atlanta. The Midtown Tour of Homes raises money used to preserve and restore the character of Midtown, and Cocktails in the Garden offers a chance to explore new features at the Botanical Garden every Thursday evening from May through September.
