With the cost of living gradually creeping up, retail giant Leclerc has slashed the price of the iconic baguette in a move that looks set to spark a price war.
s the cost of living continues to rise across the c o u n t r y, the price of a supermarket baguette has fallen to its lowest level for decades in a move that has angered the wider industry. The price war began with the announcement by retail giant E. Leclerc that it would be selling the iconic loaf for 29 cents until at least the end of April. “Because of inflation, the average price of baguettes could increase significantly... that’s unthinkable,” the company said, revealing the new fixed price.
