GEORGIE
Rosie Jeferson Elementary School
When I need help Georgie’s always right next to me, in my yellow and purple room with my oak colored lot. She once said, “If you just try, you can accomplish anything.” And every morning, she gives me a warming smile and I know that every day, she loves me and I love her and I’ll never, ever let go of her. Another time we were waiting for the yellow bus to come, and we were very, very bored. So, I told her a joke and she chuckled, then hugged me. When we got on the bus, we sat alone. We usually sat next to our best friends but they were gone, so she walked me to my line, then said, “Go say hi to your other friends,” smiled then let.

My name is Sol. I’m from Germany. In Germany I had a lot of friends and I knew a lot of people. I also had a big house. It had a brown roof and it was white and blue colored. In Germany, it did not have a lot of trees. Mostly it was miles and miles of land. It was fun but I had to leave Germany for good.
I let Germany because of religious persecution and the Nazis. When the Nazis came to my house they broke into my house. I was so scared and nervous because I didn’t want to be killed. So we went through the back door and to our car, then to a steam boat. It was scary because on the boat people were sick and poor. Also it was cold and when I was looking around I saw someone get sea sick. It was gross. Also I was wearing brown pants and brown coat, with black shoes. It was very dark and my family and I were squished against a wall. “I hope I can get of this boat soon!” I said to my mom.
Next we inally arrive at Ellis Island. We went through the check up but my brother was sick. I was super sad. Every day I checked on my brother. On my birthday my brother was not sick. I was so happy! We celebrated my birthday I got no presents but it was ok.
Then we went on a train to Boise, Idaho. My mom and dad got jobs. Two years later my brother got a job in the military.
That is who I am.

There will be times when you walk into a room and no one there is quite like you. Maybe it is your hairstyle, or your clothes, or maybe you got new shoes and nobody likes them.
There will be times when you walk into a room and no one there is quite like you until the day you begin to share your stories. You could share a story. You might have been to a state, maybe Pennsylvania or Chicago. You might like a book someone might be interested in.
ALI’S JOURNEY
Bashir Jeferson Elementary School
My brother said “run!” when the Kenyan army was attacking the refugee camp, but the plane was ready. I ran as fast as I could to get on the plane. The plane was leaving. I jumped on the plane. I was safe from the Kenyan army.
We got kicked out of our country because of war. We were sent to a refugee camp. We had no fresh water. We were sent to Angie Island. The boat was so crowded. They gave us nuts, but I wanted my traditional food. Then I was seasick. Then I went to Boise. I was so excited. When we came to America, we had the best life ever. Five years later I got a job at Jeferson Elementary as a teacher.
