“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, But in having new eyes Marcel Proust

The joys of travel and gathering like a magpie Britain Folklore An old English tradition notes that if one magpie flies by, you should take your hat off and bow repeating this line : Morning/Afternoon Mr Magpie. How's Mrs Magpie and all the little Magpies? This will help assure your good luck throughout the day

China Folklore The Chinese traditionally see the magpie as a bird of good fortune, except if you kill one when misfortune will arrive. Magpie is a symbol of happiness in Chinese culture. The singing of a magpie foretells happiness and good luck.

From as far back as medieval times, the traveller has returned to their homes, not only with beautiful memories, but also with beautiful keepsakes from their travels ‌ Beautiful memories of their journey for years to come. East West, North or South

Mongolia Folklore The Magpie is a clever creature with control of the weather.

It was the prophets and profits that first linked East to the West With the great Silk Route that exchanged precious metals for exotic silks,

Germany Folklore In Germany the number of birds, according to tradition, indicated forthcoming events. One is viewed as unlucky; two brings merriment or marriage; three is a successful journey; four is good news and five indicates you should expect company.

Vietnam, Burma, Rajasthan, Africa, Shanghai and many more exotic destinations conjure up images of richness of blends, amazing colours, and patterns. Sheer silks, intricately woven with delicate of patterns Our minds changed by the interesting people we’ve had the pleasure to meet on our journeys and the things we’ve gathered

Bhutan, tucked away in the depths of the Eastern Himalayas, the 47,000 sq. km small kingdom of Bhutan, or Druk Yul, is little known and lesser visited. A forbidden land for centuries.

Still, the kingdom maintains a policy of "low volume - high quality tourism" and retains its exclusiveness in the world of travel. From high mountain peaks to deep lush valleys, from modern apartments in Thimphu to farmland barns, from meditative monks deep in prayer to fluttering prayers and vibrant, colourful festivals, Bhutan is incomparably unique. Art and craft Bhutanese art and craft, inevitably religious in character, exists in 13 forms that are together called the zorig chusum. These 13 forms include textile weaving, wood and slate carving, painting, blacksmithery, and pottery, all of which have elaborate techniques and histories passed on through successive generations Wedged between China and India, the two most populous countries in the world, and being disadvantaged with little military or economic strength. Religion Full payment due 30 July

Australia Folklore The magpie is seen in a negative, aggressive light. This may be because the Australian Magpie is of the Shrike (an aggressive hunter) family rather than the Crow family .

Your host, Jean Wethmar, has since 2008 helped many people make their travel dreams come true, with her personally planned exclusive tours. Jean’s trips are limited to small groups of like-minded travellers, who love discovering new countries and enjoying life to the full! .

These classic escorted journeys offers flexibility, personal attention and smooth, running, safe travel arrangements’. Couples, or single travellers are welcome on her tours.

The Magpie with its immaculate black and white plumage and green and blue gloss, is an unmistakable bird. In flight it can be easily distinguished by its long-tailed profile. In the open it flies, rising awkwardly, with quick flaps and glides - like a ragged kite. Among trees the species moves confidently, reflecting its agility. On the ground the tail is often held high as the bird 'kangaroo-hops' along.

‘The greatest journey is best measured in friends rather than in miles’ Her mantra is #relax, #renew, #recover, #reflect, #regain, #regrow With Jean escorting your group, you’ll get the full package.. All the trimmings plus the gift inside! Integrity is high on her priority list.
