Prolec boasts 40 years’ experience supplying machine productivity and safety systems for construction equipment.

Safeguarding Rail Operations with Movement Limiting Devices

Prolec was approached by Rail Freight Services (RFS Works Ltd) to customise and deliver a “virtual wall” movement limiting solution for the UK’s first Terex Fuchs RHL 360F material handlers. These machines are now in active service unloading material for HS2 at a Tarmac site.

After detailed talks with Blue Group Southern, Rail Freight Services and the Terex Fuchs factory, Prolec provided two PME505 systems with proportional slew and reach control. With the OEM’s help, Prolec integrated PME505 directly with the OEM’s slew brake, ensuring productive and safe work near to open railway lines and under high-voltage cables.

With Prolec Proportional Control, the machine is able to work at full speed, all day, right up to the movement limit, with the operator confident that the machine will not inadvertently cross the virtual wall boundary.

Safeguarding Demolition

Prolec worked with KTEG GmbH, Tolk & Düsterhus Baggersysteme GmbH and Kiesel GmbH to customise and fit a PME 700 demolition working range system on a Hitachi 890 excavator converted for demolition applications.

The machine is equipped with three front end equipment options supplied by Kocurek Excavators Ltd. PME 700 automatically identifies the front end equipment and self-configures the correct working range information required. The three configurations are 30mtr high reach demolition, 50mtr teleboom high reach demolition, and multi-use TAB.

The PME700 system uses the OEM supplied envelopes, monitoring the tool point in all configurations giving the operator a visual and alarm warning when approaching the edge of the envelope. An external alarm is also installed for when the envelope is breached.
