Fashion Forward Dubai (FFWD) today announced Saudi-born designer Yousef Akbar as the winner of a competition for the Not Just A Label (NJAL) community to showcase at the Dubai event in April. Yousef Akbar’s designs were selected from more than 170 global entrees to present his latest collection at FFWD’s April 2020 edition, taking place from April 2-4 at Dubai Design District (d3). Akbar’s work was selected based on design aesthetic, innovative approach, and relevance to the region, as well as his demonstrated business acumen, production capacity, and positive brand narrative as a designer, amongst other award criteria. “I am absolutely thrilled and grateful to be selected as the winner of this highly regarded competition and am grateful to both Not Just A Label and Fashion Forward Dubai, for advancing my journey,” said Akbar. “It will enable me to showcase my work to a wider audience. I can’t wait to unveil my latest collection there,” said Yousef Akbar, founder of the eponymous label. During FFWD, Yousef Akbar will show the “Blood Witness” collection, which is dedicated to the concept of sustainable and socially responsible couture, supporting women in the developing world, including the Middle East and India. According to Yousef, he dedicates this collection to all women – including the widows, the orphans, the teenagers fighting to get an education, the abused, and finally to the brave women fighting and standing up for their rights, evolving their cultures, and challenging the norm in their quest for equality and freedom.

Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen, in collaboration with long-term partners in Qatar Al Majed Jewellery, announces its participation at the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2020. Rubeus Vert The sixth perfume in perfumer Jorge Fernandez’s career, Rubeus Vert flaunts a sweet and rich aroma of agarwood, tinted with notes of Damas rose and resinous amber. Top notes include champagne, black current and mandarin, with floral and fruity scents of pear, apricot and grapefruit in the middle, and a prominent rose, raspberry and vanilla base. Made from premium glass and replicating the shape of a falcon, the bottle references back to the brand’s iconic Mydas clutch, with its ruby clasp. Encased in an elegant wooden lacquer box with velvet lining, each scent corresponds to its colour.
With bottle designs dedicated to precious stones, Rubeus Vert comes in an emerald coloured bottle with emerald stone on the cap and emerald lining in the special bright green wooden box. Rubeus Bleu follows a similar story in a sapphire colour scheme and Rubeus Rouge is a tribute to the gem, now the label’s symbol – a ruby. MANGO For A Sustainable Tomorrow
100% of cotton used in garments will be sustainable by 2025 MANGO continues to advance towards more sustainable fashion and in the next few years aims to implement an ambitious plan that will fulfil one of its strategic pillars, the sustainable transformation of the company. The fashion multinational has established as one of its key objectives to increase the proportion of sustainable fibres in its collection, which is why, by 2025, 100% of the cotton used in its garments will be sustainably sourced. In fact, in 2018 the firm had already set a target for 50% of its cotton to be sustainable by 2022 and in the same year signed up to the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) to increase its support for the cultivation of sustainable cotton worldwide. MANGO also plans to increase the use of recycled polyester in its garments. The aim is to increase its use by up to 50% by 2025.

Another point envisaged in this plan is that, by 2030, 100% of the cellulose fibres used will be from controlled sources. This is a very important milestone, since it will help improve the traceability of the materials used for MANGO collections. According to Toni Ruiz, MANGO General Manager, “the targets we have set for our collection are the result of a firm commitment to continue with the sustainable transformation of MANGO as a strategic pillar of the company in which all company employees are involved.” In 2019, MANGO produced a total of 18 million garments with sustainable characteristics, doubling the figure it produced the previous year.
MANGO Committed Collection Furthermore, the MANGO Committed capsule collection has evolved to become, from this year onwards, a permanent collection of the firm that includes all garments with sustainable characteristics in the different MANGO lines (Woman, Man, Kids, Baby and Violeta). The use of sustainable fibres and processes reduces the impact on the environment, helps produce a circular economy and optimises the use of natural resources.
The company is also planning to increase the use of recycled polyester in its garments to 50% by 2025, and for 100% of cellulose fibres used to be from controlled sources by 2030
Take Action Programme All of these initiatives are part of the Take Action project, which includes all the actions aimed at creating a more sustainable business model. Oval Watch with Articulated Hands-Restoration by Parmigiani Fleurier All the watches in the Edouard and Maurice Sandoz Collection have specific features that Parmigiani Fleurier has had the pleasure of studying during their time in its restoration workshop. Among them is an oval watch with telescopic hands that inspired one of the Fleurier-based brand's modern timepieces. The oval watch with articulated hands dates back to around 1800. It is a pocket watch of English origin. The hands are designed to trace the elliptical form of the dial. A holistic approach was adopted for this timepiece, with the case, dial and time indicators all following the contours of the shaped movement. The bezel and caseback of this gold timepiece are edged with pearls. The back of this jewelled timepiece is adorned with a medallion of royal blue enamel over a guillochĂŠ pattern, with precious stones set in a floral arrangement. Applying the knowledge gained while restoring this magnificent piece, Parmigiani Fleurier developed a modern solution for a similar display. It can be found in all its glory on its Ovale Pantographe model, named after an instrument that operates using the same principle. A variety of approaches were explored during the design of this complication, in order to create a legible time display. The restoration and preservation of watchmaking heritage represent the very foundation and origins of Parmigiani Fleurier. Its expertise dates back to 1976, when master watchmaker Michel Parmigiani opened a restoration workshop. In 1996, the Parmigiani Fleurier brand was created around this centre of excellence. Restoration requires the highest level of watchmaking expertise. Much of what is learnt is actually linked to forgotten activities of the past; activities which are imprinted in the brand's watches. The Parmigiani Fleurier restoration workshop is a department that deals with all types of horological objects. Three small automata from the Maurice Sandoz collection serve as fine examples of masterpieces restored by Michel Parmigiani. They are sources of inspiration both on a mechanical and a material level. March, 2020

This street photography series explores the present situation of Venice: tourism, art and a commercial pose but it is also about who I am. Although my first intention was to depict a reality, they finally showed again my fetishes: reflections, saturated colours and repetitions. All the elements from the shop windows, objects, architecture, places to the street life are linked in a chaotic environment. Tales of Venice intended to deal with the idea of mass tourism, but what shows is a personal perspective concerning travel, art and fashion as money makers. The masks work as the perfect metaphore of a global attitude and I would be a hypocrite if I would not include myself in the same game. So the broad implications of what is happening became a personal allegory of travelling as my obsession and my main inspiration. I just wanted to document my findings, but the resulting vision made me reflect about my passion for travel photography.

Biography: Seigar is a philologist in English, a highschool teacher, and a curious photographer based in Tenerife. He is a fetishist for reflections, saturated colors, details and religious icons. He feels passion for pop culture that shows in his series. He considers himself a travel and street photographer. His aim as an artist is to tell tales with his camera, to capture moments but trying to give them a new frame and perspective. Travelling is his inspiration. However, he tries to show more than mere postcards from his visits, creating a continuous conceptual line story from his trips. The details and subject matters come to his camera once and once again, almost becoming an obsession. His three most ambitious projects so far are his “Plastic People", a study on anthropology and sociology that focuses on the humanization of the mannequins he finds in the shop windows all over the world, "Response to Ceal Floyer for the Summer Exhibition" a conceptual work that understands art as a form of communication, and his "Tales of a city", an ongoing urban photo-narrative project taken in London. He is a self-taught visual artist, though he has also done a two years course in advanced photography and one in cinema and television. He usually covers public events with his camera showing his interest for social documentation. He has participated in several exhibitions: FotoNoviembre TEA, TenDíez, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Phe Gallery, Instituto de Estudios Hispánicos, Espacio Cultural Castillo de San Felipe, ULL Rafael Ramos García International Photography Awards, Tank Festival, Sala Fleming Art Gallery, Loosen Art Gallery in Rome, Haze Gallery in Berlin, and others; and his works have also been featured in international publications: Blanc Magazine, PhotoVogue, Dodho Magazine, Semi Magazine, Latent Image Magazine and others. He writes for The Cultural Magazine (Spain) about photography and for Memoir Mixtapes (Los Angeles) about music. He has collaborated with VICE Spain, WAG1 Magazine (text and photography for both). Lalety, he has been experimenting with the video form, he has directed a short film entitled “Víctor (1997)” and also a video art piece named “Hot Summer, based on true fantasies”. His last interest is documenting social issues related to identity, in search of everything that defines people (hashtags and labels). Recently, he has received the Rafael Ramos García International Photography Award for his photo "Afternoon in the lake".

Please introduce yourself and tell us about your educaton.
I’m LunaVi, a 25-year-old professional singer from Ukraine. Music is my life. I began singing professionally from 11-years-old, studied at music school, the College of Music and the National Academy of Cultural and Art, where I got my Masters degree.
How did your interest in music and singing begin?
When I was born, my dad called me Viktoriia after the famous Soviet singer Viktoriia Tsiganova. Maybe then, my destiny was decided. I started singing in kindergarten, then at my school in concerts and festivals. I started to study at Music School, and from that moment, I began to participate in many vocal competitions and festivals in Ukraine and internationally. When I was very small, my sister Inna taught me to dance and to sing, and every New Year we made concerts for our parents. Maybe from that time, I started to love the stage.
Did you take any special training for music or singing? 056
I've had special training in music and when I started professionally.
How did you take it further to create a singing career?
Like I said before, I sang from childhood. And I say thank you God that He gave me this talent, that’s why I can't hide it and must develop it.
How did you get interested in modelling and first enter the modelling field?
During my second course at the Academy, I went to model school and obtained a certificate. I was a model for a few Ukrainian designers. When I took my singing career abroad, photographers in the countries where I worked asked about cooperation for photography. I like beautiful photos and videos, and I love being a part of it. How and when did you come to Doha? What do you do there?
I came to Doha to work as a singer in June 2019. I got a job in the Mondrian hotel and sang in a few restaurants there. I’m in love with this place and my work, that's why I’m so happy to be here.
Are you disciplined about what you eat and drink?
I workout in the gym every second day, and I try to eat healthily. But I am human, and sometimes I allow myself some tasty and 'harmful' food. I try not to drink coffee and drink more water. Let's see how long I can live without caffeine.

How do you train your voice to sing in this amazingly sweet manner?
I didn't use to sing like this. I had talent from childhood, but to sing as I do now, I have had a lot of practice. I do different exercises for breathing and range extensions. I listen to many different styles of music as it helps to train my hearing. When you listen to other singers, you can take some manners or features, and add them to your singing.
What’s the best part of performing on the stage?
When the audience claps you or dances to your music, and afterwards when they come and say 'Thank you'. But best is when people return, and you see you're doing something right and they like it.
What instruments do you play?
I play the piano, but honestly, not good. I can play for myself when I am singing, but play something by Mozart I can’t. Unfortunately.
What is your favourite part about being a musician?
I like my profession because it gives me a chance to develop and I can travel. It is the best part of my profession. All the time you must be beautiful, sporty and you can choose which country to work. You meet interesting people, share their experiences and make useful contacts.

My family, close friends, love, music, and being successful in something.
Who do you credit for your superb success?
I think just hard work can give me credit for my success. Only we can manage our life, nobody else. Work, work and work on yourself all the time. It’s what you need for success.
What are your other interests?
All my life is music, so I haven't had much time for other hobbies. But I engage in dance and modelling.
Do you have any favourite Western singers?
My favourite American singer is Beyonce. I think she is a perfect artist; she has an amazing voice, is very beautiful, dances like a Queen and her shows are incredible. I‘m always crying when I watch her concert because it’s amazing. She is working hard, and I respect it.
Do you have any more dreams of your own, for the future?
I have a dream to record my songs and make an album. I hope it happens soon.

MANGO Launches New 3D Costume Jewellery Capsule Collection Sustainability x Innovation

In the creation of its new costume jewellery capsule collection, MANGO is opting for innovation and creating a product line using 3D printing. The MANGO design proposal consists of 90% sustainable materials, combining, for example, birch, PLA, terracotta, plastics of biodegradable vegetable origin, woods and ceramics. The collection is craft-inspired and combines warm and natural colours with gold tones, creating irregular textures. The pieces transport us to Mediterranean-style locations, because of the climate, forms, materials, colours, freshness and harmony they reflect. With this project, MANGO wishes to reinforce its commitment to sustainability. At the same time, this concept is related to innovation, key for the development of its collections. The collaboration has been brought to life in collaboration with Comme Des Machines, a leading Spanish company in the production of sustainable fashion through 3D printing. Using 3D printers, this group of young artists create costume jewellery, bags and fabrics and are pioneers in the digital transformation of the textile industry. The capsule collection is made up of 10 pieces and will be available online at mango. com starting 11 February 2020.

PRESENTED STUART VEVERS’ FALL 2020 RUNWAY SHOW IN NEW YORK CITY Coach announced that the brand’s Creative Director, Stuart Vevers presented his Fall 2020 men’s and women’s collection for the brand at the 47th Street Warehouse in New York City this afternoon. تطرح مجموعتها الجديدة لموسم خريف 2020 من إبداع ستيوارت فيفرز في مدينة نيويورك أطلقت عالمة Coachعصر اليوم مجموعتها الرجالية والنسائية الجديدة لموسم خريف 2020للمدير اإلبداعي ستيوارت فيفرز في عرض أزيا ٍء مميز أقامته في شارع ويرهاوس 47في مدينة نيويورك. اختارت الدار ش ّقة علوية ُمشرقة في وسط المدينة لعرض األزياء حيث تزاوج سحر المكان غير المألوف مع إرث العالمة العريق .ازدانت المالبس بألوان أساسية أضفِيت عليها نفحة نابضة بالحياة واستقت إلهامها من الماضي ،ثم جاءت اللمسات الجرافيكية الجريئة لتضيف طابعا ً عصريا ً على هذه التصاميم فتحاكي الحرية والفرح.اشتملت المجموعة على مالبس خارجية فضفاضة ارتداها عارضو األزياء فوق بعضها البعض وقد اس ُتخدم صوف الخروف البتكار القطع التي تخللتها أنماط منقوشة يدويا ً بحرفية عالية .كما أطلّت األحذية ّ المسطحة وأحذية السنيكر البسيطة في المجموعة. عالو ًة على ذلك ،اتّخذت حقائب Coachالجلدية أشكاال ً مر بّعة تتمتّع بقوام مرن وتستحضر هندسة مدينة غوثام الخيالية .أعادت العالمة إطالق حقائ ب �Lega cy Stripeبحلّة جديدة مفعمة بالحياة تحاكي طاقة الشباب التي ال تعرف الكلل .فتشعر بأنّ هذه التصاميم تنبض بالحياة وتُبعد الرتابة والملل .هي مجموعة ترسم آفاقا ً جديدة للتصاميم المقبلة محافظة في الوقت عينه على سماتها القديمة.

A home is an intimate space that exceeds its limitations as mere real estate. Such was the case in Santa Fe, Mexico City, where architect Alejandro de la Vega Zulueta was commissioned to apply his attention to detail to the interior design of a high-rise apartment. The urban district of Santa Fe contains Mexico City’s largest concentration of corporate and residential high-rises, with an aesthetic concept that has been applied equally to both. However, the residential complex of Antigua, located in one of the district’s hills, is an exception to that rule, with abundant green spaces and walking trails, and its use of terracotta and ochre, against backgrounds of blue and ‘Mexican pink’. This clash of elements is important when putting Santa Fe into context as a district offering the possibility to create a new concept, and a new architectural language, for Mexico City. Designed and built by Ricardo Legorreta in the 1990s, Antigua offers the dual promise of both a commercial and a residential area, with a unique blend of urban vibe and suburban quality of life. These contrasts extend from the complex’s exuberant gardens to the building’s fuchsia-walled hallways, providing a warm welcome while also highlighting the space. Continuing into the building, colours, textures, and furnishings provide a warm ambiance, reminiscent of a Nordic-style home. In addressing the residential space, Alejandro de la Vega Zulueta concentrated on three dominant materials, including marble, brushed black granite, and oak wood. The design respects each material in its almost raw presentation, with all of the pieces in synchrony, including a grid of granite tiles on the bathroom floor that matches the marble on the walls, both in size and in layout. The central spaces of the residence include a lounge, a dining March, 2020
room, and a kitchen, each highlighted by its choice of furnishings and art, all designed and built by de la Vega Zulueta. The furniture ranges from relatively simple pieces, including a dining room table and a pair of dressers, to a custom-built kitchen island, a wood and leather chaise longue, and shelving with adaptable modular units. On the walls, de la Vega Zulueta’s parametric art comes to life in prominence, including a white concrete sculpture mounted on a grey granite wall, erected to provide contrasts in lighting and shadows. A variation of the artist’s Warrior sculpture, a 9-degree manipulation gives new interpretation to the piece, which resembles two lovers. In keeping with the artist’s philosophy of marrying art and architecture, adjustments in shaping, manipulations of light, and the formation of angles all contribute to an aesthetic balance between the sculpture and the space that it occupies. Discrete functionalities further contribute to space’s openness, including hidden handle incorporated into the granite walls that open up to storage areas, and electric cabinets in the guest bathroom, concealed behind a wall of oak in the hallway. The lighting system is also discrete in its design, with hidden track lighting and iGuzzini micro luminaires, all with motion detectors.
