CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN BEAUTY LAUNCHES AT GALERIES LAFAYETTE DOHA
Kylie Jenner wears the‘Kylie’ PVC pumps by Andrea Wazen
10
Christian Louboutin Beauty, the iconic beauty brand covetedby makeup artists and beauty lovers alike, expands its reach in the Middle East in June 2021, as it launches at Galeries Lafayette Doha, located in 21High st, Katara Cultural Village. Reinforcing the Christian Louboutin Beauty’s dedication to the region, this new launch creates even more ways for Louboutin-lovers in Qatar to enjoy the phenomenal make-up and fragrance offering of this iconic beauty brand. Galeries Lafayette will be home to the entire Christian Louboutin Beauty range including bold collections for lips, nails and eyes, as well as iconic fragrances such as the ‘Loubiworld’ collection, launched in November 2020. The range reflects the same playful wit, passion and innovation as Christian Louboutin’s prolific collection of women’s and men’sshoes, handbags and small leather goods. Known the world over as an artist and craftsman with a true passion for shoes, Christian Louboutin also understands the bold, transformative power of a stroke of red lipstick and nail color. After all, a chance encounter with red nail polish in 1992 is what inspired the creator’s now iconic red-lacquered soles, and ultimately began his journey into beauty.
Kylie Jenner wore the ‘Kylie’ pumps by Andrea Wazen to the 72nd Annual Parsons’s Benefit in New York City on 15th June, 2021. The pumps featured a 10.5cm heel, PVC translucent upper and pointedsole, with a shimmering olive green leather at the heel matching perfectly with Jenner’s forest green dress. The ‘Kylie’ PVC Pumps were created for Jenner as a custom-style, and will be available to the public from August 2021, exclusively on andreawazen.com, in a variety of colours.

Please introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kimia Nourtajalli, makeup artist and founder of Michiamonk. I live in the UAE, and I have continued to serve in this industry for the past 10 years.
Tell us about your education.
I have studied fine art at the Art University of Tehran, and 6 years after my graduation, I studied fashion designing at Bedfordshire University in the UAE, followed by obtaining a certified degree as a makeup artist with Kryolan.
How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?
I started my career 11 years ago as a wardrobe stylist and looking at how I would do my own makeup, I was requested by the production team to also do some basic makeup on the models and actors on board. Slowly, I started loving doing makeup on others, and I took it more seriously. However, until today, I continue being a stylist and a makeup artist on sets.
What do you love most about makeup?
Makeup, for me, is an art. The slogan of my favorite makeup brand (Kryolan) is "makeup is a science. " I like to believe makeup combines art and science where you can elaborate and express beauty creatively. Personally, I love to challenge myself on every project to gain more experience and learn new things about my job. Every face is a blank canvas where I can translate my artistic ideas into a masterpiece. Being creative is the main reason that I love doing makeup.
What would you have done if you hadn't been a makeup artist? It's hard to choose something over being a makeup artist, but I would be a fashion photographer or a dermatologist if I had to choose.
Through your journey, what barriers or challenges did you have to face, and how did you overcome these barriers?
First of all, challenges and barriers are two platforms that make us grow more to achieve our dreams. In my field, I have come across several challenges. For example, at the start of my career, to gain people's trust and be approved as a pro-MUA, I worked so hard that sometimes I would even waive off my payments. I would collaborate with different companies to prove I was ready to take on challenging tasks. Slowly, I observed that my work was being recognized, and that is when I realized working hard to pass the challenges will polish that rough gem inside you, and you can be closer to shine.
What is your favorite makeup brand?
Well, every makeup brand has something which makes them the best. So for me, after testing so many products, some of them stand out more than the rest, for example, I adore Dior backstage foundations, I love eyebrow products by Benefit, I really like Tarte and Nars concealers, but if I want to be specific, my top three groups of makeup brands would be, 1.Kryolan and Dior 2.Makeup forever Tarte and Nars 3.Kikomilano,Urbandecay and Benefit July, 2021
19
Where do you get your inspiration? Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career?
For me, anything that has harmony is beautiful. So even if I create some avant-garde look, I always keep harmony in my mind. My main inspiration is nature. I love using earthy colors a lot, and of course, minimal looks fascinate me the most. Two of the most fantastic makeup artists who inspire me are Wayne Goss and Nikki Wolff, or @ nikki_makeup. I believe they know exactly what they are doing with products. The way they use the products on the skin, it is sheer magic.
How would you describe your signature look, and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?
20
My preferred style is naturally glamorous plus GLOWY skin. I work a lot on skin base, and I always prepare the skin, which usually starts with a light face massage. Most of those lovely people I did make up for always tell me that they wish I was their personal makeup artist, which I guess is because of the face massage :). Skin must look flawless with well-defined and sculpted features, but the overall finish needs to look ultra-natural. I'm not heavy-handed with products. In fact, I use fewer products but blend them well on the skin.
How is shooting for camera and lights, different than everyday makeup?
The makeup in front of the camera must be more potent than daily makeup. This is because the lights and cameras take away a lot of colors from the makeup. Like Catwalk and Live Fashion Shows, people would not see the makeup if it wasn't heavy.
How do you keep up with all the new trends and styles?
I always say an artist should feed their eyes. So how I keep up with all the beauty trends and style is to read fashion or beauty magazines and maintaining a Pinterest board of makeup styles as part of my efforts to stay updated. But to be honest, not every trend fascinates me. As mentioned before, where there is harmony, there is beauty in it for me.
What is your favorite memory of your career so far?
Once I was booked to do makeup for a fashion show. Twelve models were participating in the catwalk. The client told me there are 3 other makeup artists where we can divide the work amongst ourselves to manage time more efficiently and get the models ready quickly. So I reached the venue, and I saw only one other
makeup artist who was there because of a model who was her friend, so it was left to me to groom eleven models with different skin tones, different eye shapes, and different skin textures. I had only one hour and 45 minutes to make everyone ready. Long story short, till today, I don't know how I managed to perfectly pull it off, but yes, this was a challenge that made my career's best memory so far.
What are some common mistakes that women make?
beauty
Well, there are some mistakes that I see more often in makeup which are: •Using way too many products for contouring •Applying lipstick to naked lips •Drawing lines on the entire brow And about the general beauty, the most important one is women not taking care of their skin correctly. That is not drinking enough water, eating wrong, not sleeping well, not having a skincare routine, not using sunscreen, sleeping with makeup on to name a few.
What beauty products do you think should be a staple in every woman's purse? Oh! What an interesting question. I think a perfect concealer, eyebrow gel, lip balm, mascara, and a light blush are what I carry in my purse, and they are the to-go products that can be quickly applied anywhere, at any time.
Share something you would like the world to know about you
I write poems, and I paint a lot. In 2013, I was the winner of the European miniature painting competition, and I love cooking and creating new recipes.
How do you feel being part of the CiiN family? CiiN is that platform where you know you will be supported and you are in a professional atmosphere that your talent can be seen.
What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women?
Please, please, please take care of your health and especially your skin. Eat right and Sleep right.
Your message for CiiN magazine?
The world would be a much better place if everyone spread love, care, and support the way you do to small businesses. And I want to thank your professional team for being so supportive, innovative, and having that artistic eye to fish out so many hidden gems through their work.

Christian Louboutin Beauty launches ABRACADABRA LA PALETTE
28
ABRACADABRA! In the blink of an eye…, sublime! The Christian Louboutin beauty lab works its enchantment. The magic formula? Six makeup palettes, a first for Christian Louboutin. Intense and daring, these carefully selected shades suit all complexions and have silky textures that glide on with a single stroke. Choose your palette, then place it inside the red or black signature spiked clutch – it’s refillable in a flash. Ta-dah… it’s a wrap. Get ready for magical makeup moments, “From Christian, with love.” www.theciin.com
THE HARMONIES 3 EYESHADOW PALETTES Illuminate and enhance your eyes in an instant with these three palettes. Switch up your look and vibe with six ultra-pigmented shades in matte, satin, shimmer or metallic. It’s time to explore, the options are endless.
ROUGE FOLLIES Smoky eyes with a touch of red. Give free rein to your creativity with these shade variations: deep matte black, iridescent white, metallic plum and Rouge Louboutin red. Blend with satin antique rose and sand. Simply hypnotising.
ROSE PIGALLE Amber and pink come together in an enchanting blend. On a base of vivid rose, soft brown terracotta captures the metallic reflections of three powders: golden light, dazzling peach and deep rose. A game of shades.
BRONZE ELOISE
29
Your eyes will sparkle with these captivating brown hues. Satin rosewood and yellow gold are intensified by deep matte brown complemented with champagne, golden brown and coppery-bronze shimmer. Illusion or reality? Your eyes will decide.
3 HIGHLIGHTER & BLUSH PALETTES The secret of these palettes? A central highlighter, framed by two shades of blush with intense pigments to flatter your skin and instantly boost your radiance. Use the blushes alone or blended together; these three palettes are miraculously easy to apply.
SO CHICK The highlighter’s delicate burst of pinky-gold glow is intensified by the luminosity of two blush shades: intense pink and sparkling coral.
SO DELIKATE The highlighter brings a delicate shade of iridescent champagne, warmed on the cheeks with a luminous pink and a powdery peach. Your face is illuminated.
THE LOOKS “BRONZE ALCHEMY” A touch of Louboutin gold ontop over a charcoal base eye creates an iridescent contrast for mesmerising tricks. And by micracle: The BRONZE ELOISE palette brings immediate radiance to your eyes. A magic intensified with the SO PRIVÉ blush.
“ROUGE CHEMISTRY” From a smoky look to a burst of gold in the corner of your eye, the spell is cast! Shimmering, intense, mysterious. With the stroke of a brush, Louboutin red and black draws the passion of ROUGE FOLLIES, complimented by the SO CHICK blush. Simply spellbinding.
SO PRIVE The highlighter offers a dazzling complexion with a flash of intense gold enhanced by a shimmering pink duo in silky shades of tawny rose and berry pink. Highly captivating.
“ROSE METAMORPHOSE” With a swirl of the brush over cheeks and eyes, you’ll be daring in pink and arty with gold. As if by magic, your eyes transform your look with ROSE PIGALLE, illuminated by the warmth of the SO DELIKATE palette. For beauty that fascinates.

LOEWE Spring Summer 2022 Men's Runway Collection
40
LOEWE presents the Spring Summer 2022 men’s runway collection in printed form. The message is one of electrifying escapism, of hope and optimism. THE MEN’S COLLECTION Hedonistic release: the LOEWE Men’s Spring Summer 2022 collection is charged with the electrifying promise of intimacy and the feel of human touch. Creative director Jonathan Anderson keeps shapes at once abstract and straightforward, letting colours explode in a riot of saturated hues. The theme of the night out is inspired by the work of New York-based, German artist Florian Krewer (b.1986), one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary painting. Autobiographical, yet free from an overt narrative, his work begins in either found or personal photographs he has taken. With a colour palette presenting a surprising range of night-dark blacks, unclean whites and artificially-sweetened pinks, purples and blues, Krewer’s paintings, populated with characters that are free and chaotic, explore conflicts and desires consumed in the public spaces of cities.
www.theciin.com
41
A sexual energy is released into the action, with glimpses of the body, or its parts, revealed by draping or strategically placed cutouts. Tripping out translates into an idea of distortion, with coats spouting metal plaques on the back or tops dematerialising into transparent multiple layers. Sequinned animal prints and the all-over paillette leave an insouciantly kitsch trail. The juxtaposition of the pragmatic and the just-plain-bonkers sets the swinging, energetic tone. Logopatterned trench coats, leather parkas, zip-up coats gathered at the waist, roomy cargo shorts in earthy hues are juxtaposed with draped tunics, cut-out multi-layer jumpers, all-in-ones, space-dye neckerchief tops and trousers made of rope in acrylic colourways. Matching tops and shorts, or tops and trousers, are distorted by prints and decoration. The looks are accessorised with folded boots, sandals, colourful slippers, bumbags, either in small or mini sizes. The multifaceted Puzzle arrives, for the first time, in a supple hobo shape or as a bumbag in two sizes, the small and the mini. The LOEWE Anagram jacquard with bright neon pink and apple green colourways on rolltop backpacks and bumbags. Round glasses with brightly coloured frames add another feisty touch. Joy and freedom come to the fore. July, 2021

Superocean Heritage '57 Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection
62
THE COLORFUL SUMMER WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! The Superocean Heritage ’57 Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection is all about color, proportion, and of course substance. Its 38-mm stainless-steel case features a rotating bezel and bold indices. It’s the very essence of summer style. “This modern-retro tribute to the original SuperOcean is an exciting addition to the Breitling family of ladies’ watches. Of course it’ll look great at work, but its fun-in-the-sun vibe might make you want to spend a weekend at the beach,” says Breitling CEO Georges Kern, noting how the highly-coveted original was a nod to the rising popularity of seaside leisure in the 1950s and 1960s. That laid-back vibe is reflected in the sunny dials of today’s Pastel Paradise – enjoying the moment with your hair blowing in the breeze. The palette for this seasonal women’s Capsule Collection is summer white, aquamarine, mint green, and iced latte – all with tone-on-tone dials, bezels, and straps. But the real show-stopper is the rainbow tangerine version. With hour markers and hands coated in Super-LumiNova®, it sings in hues of yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, red, and orange. If you want a custom color combination, you’ll love the quick-exchange system for swapping out the luxe Saffiano calfskin leather straps, which also come in lemon and raspberry sorbet. www.theciin.com
At the heart of each watch beats the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 10 with a power reserve of about 42 hours. And even if these timepieces seem too elegant for exploring a coral reef, it’s good to know that they’re water resistant up to 100 meters. One look at this collection and you might be thinking: “It’s always summer somewhere.” But even the best summers have to end sometime. The Superocean Heritage ’57 Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection will be produced for a limited time during this summer season only. Just something to keep in mind whether you prefer sunrise yoga on the beach or socializing over sundowners.

Contemporary Eveningwear with a Romantic Twist, from Kuwaiti Designer
Bazza Alzouman
70
Spring/Summer 2021 is a continuous narration of Bazza Alzouman’s classic evening wear silhouettes. Void of embellishment and striking colours, the collection was conceptualized on the Kuwaiti eponymous label’s strongest shapes and muted colours, amplified with ethereal layers and textures. A repertoire of 22 looks feature floor-grazing and tea-length gowns and separates inject a playful, modest layer. Monochromatic gowns are anything but one-dimensional. Balloon sleeves are attached to boned bodices while figure-hugging mermaid skirts are juxtaposed with sharp padded shoulders, effortlessly marrying each minimalist creation with surrealist accents.

The uniforms of the Cheval Blanc Paris teams have been designed by Patou — an obvious choice as the two Maisons have so much in common, starting with geography and spirit: Patou is a neighbour, no further away than the length of the Pont-Neuf, and both draw inspiration from the heart of the city and the shimmering flow of the Seine. They share an intimate aesthetic, too: keeping a high profile but without ostentation — the right kind of Parisian chic. Finally, they draw on the same heritage: architectural for one, couture for the other, Art Deco for both. From these shared qualities, Cheval Blanc Paris and Patou have created an enlightened modernity with the iconic parquet-de-glace pattern and a palette of subtle, neutral tones as common threads.
DIVERSITY OF LINES AND NOBLE MATERIALS
Guillaume Henry, Patou’s Artistic Director, has added timeless values to the uniforms worn at Cheval Blanc Paris. Style rather than fashion, joy rather than artifice. A veritable uniform-à-porter for a diversity of silhouettes: from the lobby to the terrace, from the reception to the restaurants, each post has its own distinctive pieces. Highquality materials — matte wool, cotton piqué, poplin, Georgette crepe — and linings that are as appealing as the outer surfaces, details and construction perfectly aligned with Patou’s demanding standards.
A SENSE OF DETAIL AND GRAPHIC PUNCTUATION
Graphic purity, Art Deco accents and contemporary well-being are hallmarks of the collection. Gold buttons in the parquet-de-glace pattern and the elegant Cheval Blanc Paris crest are among the highlights that punctuate the spirited look. Defining traits: the finishes and attention to details — musketeer cuffs, inlaid or slightly cowled collars, lapels, embroidered pockets, puffed sleeves, a touch of satin, a note of mother-of-pearl — affirm themselves in all their personality. www.theciin.com

PATOU Jean Patou, born in 1887, founded his first fashion house when he was only 23 years old. With the Jean Patou brand, created in 1914, “the most elegant man in Europe”, according to the American press, revolutionized women’s fashion. An aesthete and pioneer, Jean Patou designed simple and chic evening dresses, and introduced casual and sportswear into the woman’s wardrobe. He was the first to mark his garments with an embroidered monogram of his initials. At the renowned couture house on Saint-Florentin street, Jean Patou received the heroines of his time, from Louise Brooks, Josephine Baker and Mistinguett, to tennis player Suzanne Lenglen and music-hall stars, the Dolly Sisters. A visionary, Jean Patou lived life fast and to the fullest. He died in 1936 when he was only 48 years old. The House, which became a fashion institution, saw illustrious designers one after another, such as Marc Bohan (1953–1957), Karl Lagerfeld (1958– 1963), Jean Paul Gaultier (1963–1974) and Christian Lacroix (1981–1987). In 2018, the Jean Patou house was reborn with a new name, Patou, and a new artistic director, Guillaume Henry. Henry presented his first women’s ready-towear collection in Paris in September 2019. The Gradation of Nature

House in Minohshinmachi expresses the idea that it is possible to build a beautiful, interesting house that is also economical. This project was designed for a young couple by Japanese architect, Yasuyuki Kitamura. The planned site is located in the northernmost part of Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture, and the surrounding development area was blessed by a natural environment. However, many of the houses built in the surrounding area were not much different from those built in the city center. In this environment, the client couple wanted a simple house that would allow them to absorb the richness of nature in their daily life, unlike living in a house built in the city. www.theciin.com

126
The south side of the site faces the road, and the east and west sides are flanked by residential lots. On the north side, the site faces the management road of Satoyama Farm, which was established as a buffer zone for the landslide disaster warning area. The background features the magnificent greenery of Mount Aogai, the northernmost mountain in Minoh City. In addressing this border between the ‘city’ and ‘nature’, a quiet residence with a vague boundary between interior and exterior, in harmony with the surrounding natural environment, was required. The House is a one-story building with a simple, loosely gabled roof, and the volume is kept low so that it is loosely continuous with the surrounding landscape. Additionally, with a very limited construction budget, the structure was built using conventional wooden construction methods, with all pillars measuring 105mm square, and all of them constructed using ordinary structural metals. A simple symmetrical frame structure with columns spaced one pitch apart, a single longitudinal climbing beam inside and outside, and rafters with narrowed ends are used to ensure high seismic performance and to significantly reduce the construction period. The interior space is extended by paired openings, a light roof, deep eaves, and large skylights that draw in the trees and blue sky. And by nesting the rooms, an intermediate area was created, blurring the interior and exterior of the building. Two pillars placed in the center of the large space, positioned as architectural components with a small cross section, provide the space with a sense of calm, like standing trees in a forest. This single architectural gesture establishes the building’s style based on an honest use of materials and a balance between opacity and transparency. Inside the single-storey home, which is divided by slender wooden beams, the kitchen, bath and other functions are contained by a number of nested rectilinear volumes, either white-washed or clad in plywood. Modern and solid, the structures provide a wonderful contrast against the classic, airy envelope. While seemingly light and ethereal, the house is highly earthquake-resistant, thanks to the traditional wooden construction method employed in its making. A new expression in a remarkable setting, the project shows that greatness can be achieved with modest means.
www.theciin.com
127
"We have been searching for the future of environmental architecture, and our goal was to reconstruct the forgotten relationship between local character and the surrounding natural environment. The result is a new type of building that, in addition to its high residential performance, feels more like a part of nature than a landscape," said architect Yasuyuki Kitamura. In recent years, the demand for housing performance has steadily increased. This building, with its well-balanced shape and large openings, was designed to withstand earthquakes in Japan, a country renowned for such occurences. The house is designed to earthquake resistance grade 3 standards, and with excellent insulation performance standards, resulting in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. House in Minohshinmachi won the prestigious AZ Award, and has been selected as the 2021 Architizer A+ Awards Finalist for Architecture + Living Small/Low Cost Design. July, 2021
MASERATI MEETS MASSIMO BOTTURA Tradition is an ingredient that drives us into the future. This idea brings together Maserati with Massimo Bottura, born and raised in Modena, Trident Brand Ambassador and protagonist of Italian cuisine, with a genius for taking the best of the past and bringing it into the future. Levante Trofeo Fuoriserie Edition for Massimo Bottura, presented on 1st July, is the outcome of a partnership between the company and a chef, both originating from Italy’s Emilia region and, both capable of reaching beyond all expectations. The car is the sum of this collaboration, an explosion of creativity, a rare display of freedom of expression and the visual impact of a life lived in vivid colours.
128
Levante, the first Maserati SUV, is a car that accepts no boundaries, making it the ideal blank sheet for a powerful burst of energy. In the top-of-the-range Trofeo trim, with a 580 horsepower V8 engine, it unites performance, fun to drive and speed. This Fuoriserie Edition’s Blu Stradale exterior is painted with multi-coloured splashes, also featured on the interior inserts, the central console and the dashboard, creating a Maserati that is an explosion of creativity from every point of view. In Massimo Bottura’s imagination, the experience of driving off-road, Levante’s natural habitat, is like a work of action painting. Growing up in the Motor Valley, he loved racing through the Emilian countryside in vintage cars with his older brothers. At the end of these adventurous days, the cars’ bodies were covered with splashes of mud, or “racing scars”, as the chef affectionately calls them. Life is very similar in that each one of us is the protagonist of an adventure: we are transformed by experiences lived, shaped by encounters, moulded by victories and defeats, and contaminated by the vibrant colours of culture. In the end, while still remaining ourselves, we have also become something different. To remember the value of this lesson, after his off-road races Massimo Bottura habitually did not wash the mud off the car for days. This special Levante Trofeo belongs to the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation program, with its various alternatives allowing customers to have a Maserati tailored to their tastes. The car is viewed as a garment,
to be worn proudly on the world’s roads in a gesture of self-expression, and as a symbol of the concept of contemporary luxury. Maserati Fuoriserie is a blank sheet of paper and the Brand offers a wide range of drawing tools and colours, leaving everything else to the inspiration of the customer, allowing them to take on the role of trendsetters and express their own, personal creativity. To help customers to find their way around the thousands of possible combinations, Maserati has created three basic collections as startingpoints: Corse, Unica and Futura. They are three clusters that express the brand’s power and represent its values, uniting sportiness with elegance and innovation. The program offers a lavish set of contents on the Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante range. New external paints and liveries, wheel and brake caliper colours, are now available for order, as well as specific cabin combinations with different stitching colour schemes and interior layouts. The new MC20 supercar can also be customised, characterising the exterior with a rich selection of colours and paintworks. The Fuoriserie collections are to be enriched and renewed over time, and the program also features the www.theciin.com

additional “Sartoria” level, for even more bespoke tailor made requirements. Levante Trofeo Fuoriserie Edition for Massimo Bottura, presented during Motor Valley Fest 2021 in Modena, embodies a concept of creativity that the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation program and Massimo Bottura share: the creativity to be open to experience, vulnerable to beauty, and willing to discover your true self through encounters with others along life’s journey.

THE WORLD’S BEST LUXURY SEDAN MADE GREENER: INTRODUCING THE NEW FLYING SPUR HYBRID
134
B
entley Motors announced details of the company’s latest luxury model on its journey to electrification. The introduction of the new Flying Spur Hybrid builds on the success of the third generation Flying Spur, using a highly innovative third powertrain to deliver the most environmentally friendly Bentley to date. The introduction of the Flying Spur Hybrid establishes a family of Bentley hybrids for the first time, emphasising Bentley’s commitment to its Beyond100 strategy to become an end-to-end carbon neutral organisation and the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility company. The latest addition to Bentley’s new hybrid range demonstrates that hybridisation does not compromise luxury or performance. With an unperceivable blend between the internal combustion engine and electric motor, refined serenity is on offer regardless of driving mode or style. The new powertrain combines a 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine with an advanced electric motor, delivering a total of 536 bhp (544 PS) and 750 Nm (553 lb.ft) of torque. The new Flying Spur becomes the most efficient Bentley ever, capable of covering over 700 km when fully fuelled. With high power reserves, superior torque and quick throttle response, the latest hybrid model gives little away to the Flying Spur V8 in acceleration, passing 60 mph from a standstill in 4.1 seconds. Inside the cabin, the automatic Start-Stop switch has been replaced with a control for the three E Modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode, enabling the driver to manage the battery usage during a www.theciin.com
journey. EV Drive mode is engaged as soon as the car is switched on, and maximises the electric driving experience.
Environmentally-Focused Powertrain
The combination of a highly efficient engine and advanced E-Motor delivers the same flexibility and practicality associated with the W12 and V8 powertrains on offer today, achieving a responsive, engaging and supremely refined experience. The new 2.9-litre V6 engine achieves 410 bhp (416 PS) and 550 NM (406 lb.ft) of torque up to 5650 rpm. The engine delivers over 150 bhp per litre, even higher than the Flying Spur V8. The advanced electronic motor is located between the transmission and the engine and provides up to 134 bhp (136 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb.ft) of torque. The E-motor is powered by a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery and can be charged to 100 per cent in as little as two and a half hours. The power electronics convert the energy stored from the high voltage battery to supply the E-Motor or supplement the existing 12v vehicle electrical infrastructure. The combined powertrain propels the Flying Spur Hybrid from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 177 mph. Reduced CO2 values and lower fuel consumption are pending certification and will deliver the most environmentally focused powertrain of the range.
Subtle Integration of Technology
The interior of the Flying Spur Hybrid is a striking combination of the very latest integrated technology, beautiful materials and design prowess, now combined with the features required for a plug-in hybrid vehicle. A dedicated button allows control over the three E Modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode. These give the driver the freedom to choose to either manually or automatically manage battery usage during a journey. The EV DRIVE mode maximises the electric diving experience and is optimal for in-city driving. Hybrid mode maximises vehicle efficiency and thus is best suited for longer journeys. Finally, Hold Mode balances engine and electric power to hold high voltage battery charge for later use conserving electric energy. In addition to the standard equipment supplied, customers can also choose a Bentley branded wallbox available as a no cost option, providing an attractive solution housing the charge unit and storing the charge cables neatly.
A Distinct Model in the Flying Spur Range
The Flying Spur Hybrid has seven Bentley paint colours to choose from as standard. The Blackline Specification offers a contemporary alternative to exterior brightware including a black version of the optional illuminated electrically deployed Flying B radiator mascot, and for a more contemporary exterior aesthetic. A ‘Hybrid’ badge mounted on the lower front fender, quad oval tailpipes at the rear of the vehicle and a covered universal charging point on the left-hand rear fender denote the new model. The interior of the Flying Spur Hybrid showcases Bentley’s expertise in creating a modern cabin of unrivalled luxury and innovation. Stylish and unique, the interior features supremely comfortable seats in five hide colours, with Bentley’s ‘Wing’ theme across the lower console and fascia. All Flying Spurs are manufactured at Bentley’s home in Crewe - the world’s first carbon neutral factory for luxury car production. Customer orders can be taken from summer onwards, and first customer deliveries are due before the end of 2021. July, 2021
