IWC UNVEILS NEW AMPAIGN WITH BRAND AMBASSADOR EILEEN GU

Following the successful launch of new Pilot’s Watches, IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled an advertising campaign featuring Eileen Gu, its latest brand ambassador. Eighteen-year-old Gu is a rising freestyle skiing star, a sought-after fashion model and an aspiring university student. She uses her voice to drive change in her sport, aiming to inspire and empower the younger generation across the globe. The new campaign pairs the skiing prodigy with the new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41. This modern take on a classic design has a stainless-steel case in a compact 41-mm size, blue or green dial and an in-house movement. Exemplifying the performance, innovation and technical excellence of IWC’s legendary Pilot’s Watches, the Chronograph 41 also features a quick- change strap system, enabling the wearer to adapt their watch swiftly to different surroundings. Hi, I am Karishma Kotak. An Actor, performer, model, anchor, or entrepreneur. Choose what you want to identify me as. Here to entertain my audience and get all your love.

Please tell us about your education.

Well, my childhood was in boarding school in Panchgani and when I started school back in England it was between South Africa and London. My father had his own business so we kept traveling between the two countries. I was very blessed to see so much of the world at such a young age.

What are your favorite childhood memories?

My childhood memories would be playing with the let's, going to my aunt's house where she grew her own food. I was just one with nature there. We would bring fresh fruits and veggies from the fields and cook them and I would listen to stories all day. It was a great time. I had a ball growing up

When and how did you get into modeling?

I started young when I was in college. I got offers and took them as they came.

And how did you get a start in acting and movies?

I started getting modeling offers while I was studying and then I got to be the kingfisher calendar girl. That was a major breakthrough and then one thing led to another. Bigg boss happened and the flood gates opened for a plethora of opportunities.

Which was your best acting experience of all the movies you have worked in so far?

I can't pick one, to be honest. Each one is unique and dear to me differently. I won't get the ups without the downs. So I won't be able to pick one.

Tell us about some of your upcoming movie projects.

There are two movies I am currently

shooting. I am hosting a few tournaments and then there is the Curtly and Karishma show which is an ongoing thing.

Name your dream role you’d like to do one day? I would love to play Penelope Cruz" part from Vicky Christina Barcelona. I just loved that movie.

How was your experience?

It was a roller coaster. You get down and then you have to pick yourself up. I met some amazing humans and created great relations. I won't change a thing if I were to do it again.

You are now seen actively promoting fitness and sports. What led you to be a fitness influencer?

I want to inspire people to have a healthier and fitter life. I like working out and since I am followed on social media, why not spread the message. So I would be doing that and I have been at it. It's a great time to share knowledge and create your own well-being community and we all get to grow together. A total win-win for everyone.

We heard that you will be presenting the Cricket league in Canada. Can you tell us more about this and your love for cricket?

Yes, I would be hosting the GT20 Canada which is their IPL equivalent. It's a great tournament with some legends in it. I watched cricket from the 2000s. We would go to watch a game sometimes at Lords or Oval. I loved the way the Indians competed and won on so many occasions away from home and that drove me to delve even more into it.

What motivated you to start your own sports show “Karishma and Curtly show”? I love cricket and I am a great admirer of fast bowling who is better than Sir Curtly to have as a co-host. So when the opportunity came, I took it straight on.

What other projects are you now working on?

There are a couple of movies I am working on, a music video and I would be hosting a few mega-events.

Three things that make you happy? My home, my family, and my pet.

Do you have any tricks or routines to stay healthy and beautiful?

I do a quick yoga routine and I meditate. That gives me perspective and that helps me attain good levels of health both physical and mental.

Do you have any other secret talent(s)? I can make wine disappear.

Isabel Marant Unveils Pre-Fall 2022 Collection

Under the influence of the 90’s, the Isabel Marant Pre-Fall 2022 collection paves the way for a minimalistic winter. The collection focuses on a selection of eclectic essentials shaping the slender Isabel Marant silhouette with a boyish look. High-waisted pants only show the metallic tip of this season’s boots while legs are revealed under miniskirts and sleek mesh bodysuits. Their millefiori signature motif, inspired by the craft of glass mosaic, brings psychedelia to a collection in autumnal hues punctuated with acid pink, pale yellow and ultraviolet purple. Two adjacent contemporary houses in a Victorian Toronto neighbourhood, designed by the same architect and for the same client, subtly respond to the local vernacular and to each other, while expressing their own unique characters. The 3,000 square foot residences are located on a unique street in the heart of downtown Toronto, which is a heritage district with mostly historically-designated houses. Here, approval to build is overseen by Heritage Preservation Services, which generally mandates a traditional style. However, the existing houses on both lots were 1960’s bungalows with no architectural merit. www.theciin.com

110 Both the client and architectural partner, Michael Taylor, felt that trying to build a new house to replicate the style of the old houses on the street would not be successful, nor was it appropriate to attempt. Instead, he and his design team set out to find ways to reference the surrounding Victorian vernacular through scale, proportion, and colour. A distinctive feature of many of the old houses on the block was a vertical gable and front porch. This inspired the configuration of the front façade of the first house with a projecting two storey bay window that picks up on the proportion of these gables, and the inclusion of a front porch. However, instead of treating these as two distinct elements, the porch and the bay window are unified into one composition that folds up from the porch overhang to become the surrounding frame of the bay window. The second house also has a porch that continues the sequence of porches of the adjacent cottage-style Victorian houses. The tall second floor windows are each surrounded by a projecting metal frame, and set into a red brick façade. Randomly sized, they evoke the dormer windows of the neighbouring houses in a contemporary composition. One of the challenges was to hide the garage doors, since there are no other garage doors facing the street. The solution for both houses was to clad the surfaces of the ground floor façade—the garage door, walls, front door, and the soffit of the porch—with the same material. The team sourced a panel product called Trespa, a high-pressure compact laminate panel based on thermosetting resins, homogeneously reinforced with wood-based fibers with a printed surface layer that looks like oak and is virtually indistinguishable from real wood, except that it is maintenance free. The client acted as the general contractor for both houses, as well as contributing to the interior design. Her intention was to occupy the first house and then sell it once the second house was complete and ready for her to move into. Lessons learned from the design and construction of the first house were applied to the second house, including design features to improve energy efficiency. The ground floor features in-floor radiant heating, which provides significant energy savings during the winter months. Flat roofs were built with continuous insulation on top of the deck, rather than with insulation in-between joists, enabling a superior level of insulation and eliminating thermal bridging. The front driveway features a minimal footprint (2 parallel strips), built with permeable pavers to maximize natural water absorption. Both houses are organized around a central skylit atrium with abundant natural light, and have custom canopies above the terraces, which maximize passive heat gains in the winter, while also providing shade in the summer. www.theciin.com

Overlooking the River Limmat, Storchen Zürich, member of Preferred Hotels, is a stylish and intimate hub for exploring the downtown area. Storchen strikes up from the water in a peachy collage of leaded windowpanes and striped sunshades. To its rear lie the old town’s elegant rows of designer labels, as well as sleepy square Weinplatz and nearby Gemüsebrucke, which hosts a small farmers’ market on Saturdays. Across the river is the twin-spired Grossmunster, worth climbing for its 360-degree views. A fun way to arrive is the 15-minute boat ride from the main station/Landesmuseum to the hotel’s pier. Storchen has been welcoming guests since 1357, but its gentrified heritage is cloaked in the luxe of a multi-million renovation that elevated the hotel to Zurich’s five-star elite – like the ugly duckling emerging as a, well, stork. It's now all colossal vases, marble flooring and a mauve through dove grey palette; there's tangible polish. Look closely, and the motifs are interpretations of the great white birds the hotel takes its name from. There’s an eerie sweep of a wing in paintwork here, and pleated brass as feathers there – as well as plentiful openings onto the river you can sit beside and watch real storks flying past. River-facing La Rotisserie is the setting for breakfast – a pleasant offering of Bircher muesli in jam jars, breads and patisseries, plus several à la carte options – and evening meals. The menu, which errs towards the traditional in dishes such as beef with fries, has a nice seasonal focus and some vegan options. The showpiece is Barchetta, a glass-fronted café-cum-bar that stretches from the square along the river and is often full of locals. Its live jazz provides a sophisticated ambiance in which to enjoy a cocktail. There is also a venerable cigar lounge with a concave wooden ceiling, which specialises in cigars from esteemed local supplier Wagner Tabak. www.theciin.com

On this special occasion, the brand-new super sports car was accompanied by two of its most important predecessors: the first Countach LP 400 and the last 25th Anniversary Countach produced. The dynamic debut, together with two protagonists of the company’s historic collection, provided some extraordinary and unprecedented images. The Countach LPI 800-4 produces a total output of 814 hp; is powered by a Lamborghini 6.5-litre V12 engine, delivering 780 hp, combined with a 48-volt electric motor mounted directly on the gearbox, which provides an additional 34 hp of power for instant response and increased performance. Spanish architect Ramón de Arana led the remodel of its façade and entryway via a striking staircase and reflecting pools that draw attention to the centuries old, 100-foot-high cedar and carob trees. The gardens have been transformed by landscape designer Gregorio Marañón to maximize green spaces and include many species original to the old Anglada Palace. Australian firm BAR Studio infused a new, contemporary character and subtle references to traditional Spanish architecture, art, design and culture through the patterns, fabrics, materials and color palettes. The hotel’s extensive art collection was selected and commissioned by English firm ArtLink. Rosewood Villa Magna comprises 154 accommodations, consisting of 101 guestrooms, 49 suites and four signature suites. The exterior façade frames each guestroom with an avant-garde touch, while inside, a chromatic color palette provides a muted background with views overlooking the Paseo de la Castellana. Namely, fragrant bath amenities by Maison Caulieres (eco-friendly traveler may be pleased to note that the shampoo, body wash, conditioner and body lotion came in large pump jars), linen by Rivolta Carmignani and treats like Marshall speakers, Nespresso machines with plenty of capsules, artsy coffe table books and French brand Palais des Thés tea bags. Named after and inspired by the original Anglada Palace, Anglada House is the hotel’s largest suite, located on the top floor and offers two bedrooms, dedicated living and dining rooms, a private gym and sauna and an expansive private terrace. Also located there is Salamanca House, which includes a bedroom, living room, dining room, dressing room and full bathroom. It can also be combined with adjacent rooms to create up to a four-bedroom accommodation and a large private terrace stretching 1,500-square-feet. An ode to the large and historic cedar trees that surround the hotel, Cedros House has large windows providing natural light over a spacious living and dining room, two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and a separate powder room.
