Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak. – Rachel Zoe
Although September announces the start of fashion week in New York, October holds the rest of the world’s fashion shows—including the show right here in our backyard in El Paso. More importantly, October is fashioned in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our editorials this month will be sure to touch your heart and bring out the more sensitive side of you. We all know someone who has been touched by breast cancer, or know someone that knows someone. Either way, it’s not a light subject matter. And the support that El Paso shows during this time is immensely inspiring. One of our stories includes a mother and daughter from the city who has given tattoos a new meaning. While the mother battled breast cancer during two different times in her life, her daughter decided that they should get tattoos—and you should read the story on page 22 to find out how it all turned out. It’s a story that is close to our home that has also made national news. We also have a story for the men—they have breasts, too! We want to share both sides of the story and make sure that everyone is staying healthy and feeling their chichis. In tune with the fashion side of our issue—it is the fashion issue after all—we got a special behind the scene look at New York Fashion Week in our Where Are They Now? column, where we talk to El Pasoan, Barbara Ramos, who is now working at Vogue Italia. We also give you the scoop on new fall trends, the best shopping websites for gently used clothes (it’s the new thing to do) and what is in and out. Fashion should be fun, playful and never taken seriously. I think Anna Wintour said that in her documentary … and I agree. So when you flip through our pages, take what you will from this season’s trends, make them your own and strut your stuff!

October, 2016 Not unlike when women get breast cancer, the effects on the body and on the families are hard. Families are supportive and doctors are there, but what is still lacking is the conversation that men need to feel their tatas and the medical world needs to accommodate both the male and female patients that they treat for breast cancer. Though the scars and the memories will remain, male survivors of breast cancer want to share their stories so that men, no matter their age, can catch lumps at an early stage and hopefully prevent anything serious. To echo the last words in the video by The Male Breast Cancer Coalition, “Remember, men have breasts, too!”

The New Trend of
Gently-Used Luxury At Your Fingertips | By: JANENE ROJAS |
October, 2016
e all love a great deal and in this digital age, it is so easy to W find. Re-used fashion is at our fingertips now with sites and apps dedicated to reselling gently worn items that are worth an encore. As a lover of thrift shopping, I was skeptical of “click of a mouse” fashion solutions, but this new trend has totally won me, and the rest of America, over. You don’t have to thrift and search for hours through a store full of “no’s” to finally find a “yes.” These designer dedicated sites will give you the option to search through used pieces sold to them by women just like you and I, for specific items you are looking for. They hold huge inventories of gently-used merchandise, which allows them to sell for way less than buying new.
Here are a few of the sites that have the biggest followings and best deals: Poshmark is an app for those who love to see an item being worn before purchasing. It has an Instagram-like feed, which shows pictures of members in the clothes that they’re selling. Something extra cool about this app is that other members can comment, like, and rate directly on the posts shown, so you can guarantee whoever you’re buying from has a following of satisfied customers already. One more cool thing about the app is that it holds “Posh Parties” which allows sellers to sell anything that fits the theme of the party. For instance there could be a “Basic Essentials” party and there you will find a wide selection of users selling basic items, or you can join the party and sell a few of your items too. Unlike most other resale sites, you choose how much you sell items for.

The RealReal is a very chic resale site that carries tons of designers. From Manolo Blahnik to Rachel Zoe, you’ll find thousands of items being resold for lower prices than you’d find buying new. Because these fancy items are all really real, prices can sometimes be really high. Luckily for us though the site offers fantastic sales. Sales start at a specific time and end at a set time (for instance, 40% off knits for two days) so you have to be quick if you have your eye on something during the sale! If you’re looking to sell, The RealReal has a pretty easy consignment process. First you sign up, and then choose between (occasionally offered) home pick up or free shipping of your items to their offices. The RealReal then decides on price, photographs your items, and sells them often in 3 days or less. You earn up to 70% of the profits, so if it’s a high ticket item, you’ll be sure to make quick cash off of this site who has sold more than 1.5 million fashion pieces so far.

Gucci under $300? Yes please. Another site dedicated to reselling designer brands is Tradesy. What makes Tradesy special though is that it has a section for brides to be, with gently used designer wedding dresses in amazing condition. Any smart bride on a budget should take a look at these gorgeous gowns, because if you can find an authentic Vera Wang wedding dress for half the price, there’s no reason to be shy, just buy! Another great thing about this site is that when selling, Tradesy only takes 9% of the sale profit when you choose to receive store credit or 11.9% when you want the cash. It’s one of the lowest percentages out there so that’s definitely a plus. Like Ebay, sales are made in a seller to buyer manner, so items are not authenticated in house. This may be the only downfall of the site, but Tradesy says they authenticate products thoroughly via pictures they receive.

Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Chloe, Prada, Fendi, Dior, Jimmy Choo, you name it, Bag Borrow or Steal has it. The unique aspect of the site is that not only can you sell and buy on it, but you can rent luxury accessories too. You can lease a bag that you know you’ll only wear a few times, for a period of one month. If you love it and want keep it longer, your lease will automatically renew for the second month. I know the idea of this may raise a few eyebrows but hey, some people lease cars, other people lease Chanel, this is a judgment zone.

Out of our five resale digital boutiques, this site is the most affordable with brands such as Banana Republic, Fossil, Calvin Klein & Lucky Brand. It is supposed to target a more casual audience, but there are tons of clothes for all styles. Aside from womens clothes, they have mens, handbags and maternity sections. If you’re looking to resell your items, you must first order a clean out kit from ThredUP. Once you have it, you simply pack items you no longer want, ship, and wait until ThredUP sends you the prices they are willing to pay for your items. They do say on their website that they are very picky and accept less than 40% of what they receive, so paying the $9.99 Return Assurance fee would be smart if you want any of your unaccepted clothes back.

here has been a major take on natural stones
this fall, the raw cut look is the latest in the jewelry
trend—rock like, and earthy inspired elements. Find
your inner earth child this season. Designers such as Givenchy, Dries Von Noten and Valentino have all taken a toll on this trend. For a more affordable take on the earthy jewels, Kendra Scott has also launched this look in her latest collection saying that she was inspired by “the red rock canyons of the west and the untouched beauty of natural stone.” These pieces definitely make for a statement. They are modern silhouettes that can be “rocked” with anything. We saw raw cut stones hit the runway in more than 50 shades. The best part of this trend and silhouette is they are all one-of-a-kind pieces, as the natural stone can’t be replicated, allowing the buyer to own a truly unique piece. You can appreciate the natural beauty of the stones when they have imperfections and veins running through them. The most common stones seen on the runways right now are lapis, emerald and amethyst, true jewel tones. ‘Tis the season of natural.

The Woodhouse Day Spa A concept was born in 2001 for a tranquil day spa that would offer a high-end resort atmosphere and products, for an affordable price. What started in Victoria, Texas has now been brought to El Paso by Sylvia Apodaca to give the city the experience and enjoy the luxury of relaxation at this day spa. Originally from El Paso, Apodaca began her career with Wells Fargo in Austin, Texas. For 22 years Apodaca was living in the stressful world of finance and banking. Upon doctor’s orders to find a way to reduce stress, she sought out a spa that would give her body the relaxation that it desperately needed. Enter The Woodhouse Day Spa. For 10 years, Apodaca has been a loyal customer and advocate of The Woodhouse Day Spa, commuting to the spa in San Antonio even after she relocated to El Paso. “I would leave for the weekend. That’s how committed I was,” she says. Unlike the environment of other spas, The Woodhouse Day Spa is your “resort-style spa in your backyard.” Without a hair salon in-house, which is also a differentiating factor, there is no distraction when you are treating yourself. “This isn’t about pampering yourself,” Apodaca insists, “It’s for health and wellness.” Opening the franchise in El Paso came from the need of bettering the city with more quality of life destinations and having a safe place to relax, refresh and rejuvenate. With 70 different services, including but not limited to: sleep therapy, four-handed massages, a signature seaweed leaf pedicure, hydrafacials and manicures. The spa also caters to men, with specialized massages like sports massages and facials, because no one is immune to the hectic lifestyle of today. For everyone, the smell of essential oils lend to helping your mind and body come into complete relaxation. With exclusive partners like Voya, a brand from Ireland that provides

The world of art and fashion usually collide in a seamless way. With intricate detail and focus on the final product, both of these worlds provide society with something to talk about—and something “pretty” to look at. For our Fashion Issue, we popped into the El Paso Museum of Art to photograph the stylish pieces that can be purchased at local boutiques. Add some personal style to your wardrobe and artfully rule the world of fashion. www.thecitymagazineelp.com

BARBARA RAMOS | By: KRYSTA AYERS |

October, 2016
It’s not an easy feat to get into the world of fashion publication— especially in New York. Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington worked for years getting to the positions that they now so famously hold. The world of fashion, though sometimes playful, is also an exclusive world, reserved for people that live and breathe fabrics, details, runways and stay in the close circles of those in the know. But the resilient and persistent will strive and make their way into those circles, making a name for themselves and playing a part in the world of fashion.

Where are they now? This leads us to El Pasoan, Barbara Ramos. Graduating from Loretto Academy, Ramos went on to finish her basics from UTEP and left to finish her higher education at the American University of Paris. “It was sort of a pleasant surprise, being able to study in Paris … little did I know, it offered everything I was looking for,” she tells me. From New York, wrapping up her third New York Fashion Week, Ramos takes time to answer some of my questions. “Once I got there, I realized Paris is the city it is thanks to what designers have created, and not only that, but as to what painters, sculptors, writers and architects have done as well. So in the end, it all summed up. I was made to study journalism then and there,” Ramos says of the timing and studying in Paris. At the university, Ramos took over the music column for the university’s magazine, The Peacock. Talking to old musicians and reporting about the music scene in Paris, Ramos quickly built a fan base at the university of people who loved her writing and the subject she was writing about. Her dream about working with a magazine came into fruition living in Paris, first at American Vogue, then by “accident” in New York with Vogue Italia. “Funny story,” she says, “I never thought I’d end up in New York this early in my career. I guess I really thought I would remain [longer] in Europe, maybe even [go to] another city in America. But I always left New York aside, as in I was literally reserving it for ‘some other time in my life’ - don’t ask me why,” she laughs. The job at Vogue Italia almost fell into her lap—not to say that she didn’t work hard for it. “It happened quite organically. No one over at American Vogue referred me to Italian Vogue.” Instead, while visiting The City That Never Sleeps, Ramos posted on her Instagram page, getting a response from an old friend about the job. “Of course, I didn’t think twice!” She adds, “It was exactly what I needed.” Now conquering the streets of New York, Ramos laments about her days in El Paso, when Vogue was only a dream away. “When I lived in El Paso my ideal day was spending hours at Barnes and Noble, sipping through frappes, while I browsed and read fashion magazines. I was in love with them.” Though she only visits El Paso maybe two times a year to see family, how can she complain with her NY office and title at Vogue Italia? As the NY Market and Editorial Coordinator, Ramos is in charge of the wardrobe for weekly photos shoots with “amazing stylists and acclaimed photographers.” A great fashion circle to be in. With her hard work, what started as an internship at American Vogue in Paris has now led to employment and perks (backstage at NYFW—yes,

please!) at Vogue Italia. Just finishing her third NYFW, Ramos’ job was to assist editors with scheduling on show times—mapping out where they had to be and at what time. Having become good friends with one of the contributing editors, this year Ramos was able to cover one of the shows and even got to write reviews. “Both of us got to share the experience of enjoying a show together and to work hand in hand while going backstage to do interviews and taking as many notes as possible. deal was my favorite part about fashion week, because it’s like seeing the inner part of a person. The real side of it, and that’s interesting. The energy of fashion week is truly both exciting and contagious. The whole week and a half can be very tiring, but extremely fulfilling if you learn how to deal with it.” When Ramos isn’t working, you can find her riding her bike in Manhattan or reading in one of the many cafes New York has to offer. On the side, she has also started her own website, cestlulu.

Nevertheless, at the end of the day, I know it’s doing good in some way, and that is certainly fulfilling. Though she misses the sunsets of El Paso, she is continuing to be successful in New York, where she gives our city a good name.

MATTE MANIA The matte mouth continues to dominate runways in 2016 and will no doubt be a popular trend Spring/Summer 2017. Whether you prefer a bold or neutral lip color, the market is flush with an array of amazing new matte lipsticks in every shade imaginable. For the fall, stick with bold and vampy berry and darker red shades that are not only on-trend but also wearable without being too Goth. MAC lipsticks feature a variety of wonderful matte finish shades that are long lasting and comfortable to wear. Try MAC lipstick in “Studded Kiss,” a dark oxblood red shade, or if you prefer a more neutral look try “Kinda Sexy,” a neutral pink-rose (both $17 at Dillard’s). Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks offer an intense amount of pigment and a velvety-smooth texture in a variety of shades. True blue-red, classic lips are again a popular choice for fall and Anastasia’s “American Doll” shade is one of my favorites for show-stopping lips. The deep burgundy shade “Vamp” is also stunning (and often sold-out) (both $20 at ULTA beauty).

LUSH LIPS
Matte lips are not for everyone though, as many find them drying and difficult to wear all day, resulting in lips that can often appear cracked or flaky after a few hours. Luckily, there are several products offering the latest shades in buttery, satin-finishes. Burt’s Bees makes an amazing moisture-packed lip balm, so it’s no surprise that its lipsticks are also rich and dewy on the lips. Made with 100% natural ingredients like raspberry-seed oil, vitamin E and beeswax, these lipsticks are very hydrating, delivering long-wearing 8-hour moisture. Stay on trend with shades like “Scarlet Soaked,” a bright, true-red or “Russet River,” a brown-toned berry shade. Bite Beauty is known for its moisturizing lipsticks, and the Amuse Bouche line delivers full-coverage pigment while not drying out your lips. “Gazpacho,” a perfect true blue-red is a favorite of beauty editors as is the neutral mauve-infused taupe shade “Thistle” (both $26 at Sephora).

GLOSSY LIVED-IN LINER The dominating eye makeup look for fall 2016 is one of our favorites (if done correctly). This look features a classic jet-black eyeliner, in a glossy-finish that is slightly smudged and blended out. My holy-grail eyeliner for the lash and waterline is hands-down Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($20 at ULTA) in the ultrablack shade “Perversion.” Made with vitamin E, jojoba oil, and cottonseed oil, which mimic the natural sebum
Glossy secretions in your skin this liner literally glides on without tugging or pulling your delicate eye area. This liner is also easy to slightly smudge with a small eyeshadow brush or a Q-tip. This trick to pull this look off successfully without ending up with raccoon eyes is to: 1) use a product that
won’t move or transfer over time and 2) slowly build the product lightly in layers and 3) remember that less is more. (Also try MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline,
$17 or Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in Jet Black, $2.39 at Walgreen’s).

imeless beauty from an antique comes with immense individuality in the intricate design. Not only is it enthralling, but antiques are made with the utmost
quality materials that were meant to stand the test of
time. Things are not made like they used to be. For those
who look to reminisce in quality and beauty, Kimberly Patterson offers an array of fine jewelry made out of antique silverware. This idea developed after she noticed a change in revenue from her first business in online designer clothes store. With her demographic typically a younger generation of women, she began to notice a decline in sales. “They’re broke, they don’t even have jobs. My sales kept going down,” Patterson indicated her apprehension in her business, and added her inclination to a change of business before ending up like her buyers. Patterson had thought of alternatives to her business, but struggled with a new idea. Until one day while on vacation, she entered a small boutique, which displayed handmade jewelry made out of steel nails. “What if I make jewelry from things that you could find around the house?” Patterson found it quite curious and innovative to repurpose something so simple and accessible, so she returned from her trip and quickly began to do her own research on a similar idea; but wished to keep it as unique as the one she encountered in that boutique. “I’d never made jewelry in my life!” she laughs. Patterson says she had to research everything surrounding the composition of a piece of jewelry. Struggling to find information on how to bend the silverware, she did some digging, and found the right information and tools to begin, and became successful in her production of jewelry. Armed with a drill press, a mini grinder, anvil and a mandrel, Patterson got to work. Without the use of heat, she bends everything into perfection, and through the duration of two to three hours, her outcomeis a magnificent piece of jewelry begging www.thecitymagazineelp.com
to be worn.

Patterson states that it was a long process, but it was worth it. “It’s better to do it and take your time, than to do it and decide the next day that you don’t want to do it anymore,” she highlights. Along with everything being vintage or antique, Patterson details that each piece of flatware she buys, she conducts research to know what era it came from, all dating from 1800 all the way up to 1930. She explains that she steers clear of buying sets and prefers to buy a random batch in order to keep each piece of jewelry she makes unique. Patterson recalls one of her favorite pieces was a bracelet she made which was composed of a money grammed fork from 1865. She admits that she was excited to have that flatware and even pondered as to who could have eaten off of that flatware, but adds that she makes things to excite her customers. Along with taking her time, Patterson adds that she makes sure to make everything with her own signature style. Each item she invests time in, people can quickly identify her jewelry. “I like all the blingy, and over the top” she vocalized. 92

As Patterson spent more time working on her craft and building a broad selection of jewelry, she decided she was finally ready. Her first set up, displaying the flatware jewelry took place in the springtime at the weekly farmer’s markets that were held at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing. Patterson struggles with the fact that she is typically alone when it comes to setting up her booth, and travelling to other cities surrounding the borderland. She continues to stay motivated and markets herself as much as possible by attending at least two to three festivals or markets each weekend. “I got really serious and said, ‘from now on, no matter what, I need the whole weekend, and anything else I can find during the week to sell, because it is a business’,” She exclaimed. Patterson mentions other plans in other business ventures; she wishes to continue this one. Patterson’s determination and creativity is sure to bring along more excitement in the art of jewelry. You can find her booth set up at each farmer’s market, Art Walk, and many other events like these.

| By: KRYSTA AYERS |
ometimes the question arises, “Are you a dog person or a cat person?” But what about just supporting and caring for both pets – and animals in general? Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) has been a mainstream practice, used all over the country,
with more than 340 areas endorsing. This practice is also supported by basically all animal protection organizations, too. You “Trap” the feral cats, Neuter or spay them, get eartipped (a universal symbol of a neutered and vaccinated cat), then Returned to their outdoor home. We want to do all we can to save the cats – not harm the innocent creatures. Unfortunately, there are too many cities facing the problem of overpopulation; El Paso being one of them. “Community cats already exist whether you want them to or not,” says the organization. Adopting TNR is the best way to control these growing populations without having to resort to euthanization.
Luckily for our city, the organization, Sun City Cats, exists. This organization tirelessly works advocating TNR in the community and surrounding areas. Sun City Cats invited the national organization, Alley Cat Allies, to visit El Paso, and together worked to develop a tailored practice to best suit the needs of El Paso. “We subscribe to the TNR protocol in an effort to gradually reduce the number of free-roaming or ‘stray’ cats,” the organization says.
“Cages are covered to keep the cats calm while they await surgery.”
Not to be confused as an animal rescue group, the organization’s main goal is to act as the liaison between veterinarians, cat fosters, cat adopters and the city’s Animal Service Department. In conjunction with these other individual groups, Sun City Cats works to have a controlled population of cats in the community - controlling them by neutering and spaying, not leaving poison outside of school buildings or uglier, less humane ways. The organization runs solely on volunteer work, so if you are interested in helping out and saving the feral cats, they will welcome you with open arms. “We welcome any and all cat food donations (both dry or wet) for the community cats.” Please contact us at help@suncitycats.org to make arrangements with one of our volunteers in your area to pick up your food donations. Thank you for caring and helping the community cats.” 94

How to Deal with a

Jealousy can rear its ugly head when we least expect it. The green-eyed monster is a clear sign of insecurities that can lead any healthy relationship into a downward spiral. Is your partner continuously accusing you of unjust behavior and the relationship is now becoming more and more draining? Here are some tips that may help you take on jealousy issues head on, before it destroys your relationship.
1
In the heat of the moment, don’t ridicule your partner, instead show some reassurance. Although it may be difficult to not lose your cool during a heated conversation, remaining calm and collected is in your favor. Getting a reaction out of you is what triggers jealous people to justify their argument. Getting angry

Help your partner achieve personal goals all while boosting their self-esteem. Personal achievements can help alleviate some of the insecurities behind jealousy.

Prost! O October, 2016
| By: ELAINE GORDON |
(Cheers to good food and drink!) ktoberfest has become a very popular annual festival, not only celebrated in
Germany, but also in cities and towns worldwide. It’s the world’s largest festival
that has drawn people to Munich, Germany, the Bavarian capital, where the
tradition began nearly 200 years ago for a two-week celebration. The festival
begins in mid September and the extravaganza last for a period of 16 days, ending the first Sunday of October.
The tradition began when Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, who was later crowned King Ludwig I, wanted the people of Munich to share in the celebration of his marriage to Princess Therese of Saxony- Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. The local name for Oktoberfest is “Wies’n” and it’s derived from Theresienwiese, the name of the field on which the festival is held. The best part of Oktoberfest is the food that you are served with your wurst – whether it’s Knockwurst, Bratwurst, Weisswurst, Wienerwurst, Bockwurst and Bierwurst, along with many more. Mustards that are sweet, hot, spicy, coarse and smooth complement the wide variety of sausages. Breads that are commonly used can be soft rolls, dense rye, black breads, caraway, poppy seed and other seeded breads and rolls; Sourdoughs and whole grain breads are also a favorite. Hot soft pretzels, especially with mustard, are also very popular. And last but not least, the sauerkraut. There are many varieties of fresh organic sauerkraut, if you choose not to make your own, that add a special hint of tradition to this Bavarian feast. Let us not forget the authentic German beer, the drink of choice. Oktoberfest style beers are amber colored, sweet, very malty and traditionally the first beers of the season. Weissbier is the perfect complement to Bratwurst, it’s lighter body and flavor won’t overpower the delicately seasoned sausage. Guten Appetit!

Though definitely a tourist spot with lines spiraling around multiple buildings, the Vatican Museum is a must-see. You will be pushed through like cattle, but the Sistine Chapel will probably make you cry and the collection of art that Popes have collected will amaze you. Thank the heavens that generations of Popes were art snobs. You can see everything from Egyptian works to important Renaissance pieces. The architecture inside is also very typically of Roman, which is something that’s always great to see.

Lastly, make sure you enjoy a picnic at the Parco degli Acquedotti, a park that’s lively, green, never mowed and where aqueducts from the year 38 can be seen. Where else would you have a modern-day picnic while staring at an ancient product of Roman engineering? Get a cappuccino (they’re not portable) at a local bar and converse with a local. Go shed a tear when you walk into St. Peter’s Basilica because it’s so huge and surreal to be standing in it. Whatever you do, explore. Estate Planning for Business Owners | By: MICHAEL C. GRAHAM, CLTC, Principal National and Principal Life Financial Representative, Principal Securities Registered Representative | You’ve worked hard to establish your business and build a secure future for your family. Your business is likely the most valuable asset in your estate. The many issues involved in passing on this asset can be resolved with an effective estate plan. Unfortunately, many statistics show that family-owned businesses don’t survive the first generation. Consider developing an estate plan that will allow you to protect your assets and make sure you control how they will be distributed.
Michael C. Graham, CLTC Managing Director
There are three general concerns that all business owners should take into account
Principal Advisor Network
• Who will take over the business when you die? It is important to develop a succession plan that

when they develop their estate plan: identifies a successor and ensures he or she is ready to take over. • Who should inherit your business? This may not be an asset you want to split equally among your children. Should children active in the business receive the same shares as those who are not involved? Perhaps being “fair” is better than “equal”? • How will the IRS value your company? Since family owned businesses are not publicly traded,

you may need the help of a certified appraiser to determine the exact value of the company. Without this, the value of the business for estate tax purposes is often determined only after a long battle with the IRS. Planning ahead will help ensure your estate has enough liquidity to pay estate taxes and provide support for your heirs. Informal business valuations may be used in the planning process to get the proper planning in place. Here are just a few strategies that can help business owners protect their assets and develop a strong estate plan. • Buy-Sell Agreement – This agreement spells out in detail how the business will be dispersed among surviving partners or family members as well as indicating a dollar value for the business. A well-drafted agreement can solve several estate planning problems and can help ensure survival of the business. • Informal Business Valuation – This is a great tool to get a good idea of the value of your business so you can get the planning process started. • Gifting the Family Business – The key to controlling estate taxes is to limit the amount of increase in the value of your estate over the years. One way to do this is to give assets to family members today so when the assets increase in value the increase is not part of your estate. There are some pitfalls, however, and you should work closely with your financial professionals – attorney, accountant, insurance representative – to make sure this is a viable option. “The best recommendation I can give you about developing an effective estate plan is to start now,” says Michael C. Graham, Financial Representative of the Principal Financial Group®. “It’s important that you involve all your advisors to make sure every aspect of the plan is well executed and funded and that all important estate tax issues are covered and work to your advantage.” For more information, contact your advisors or call Michael C.
