I use his unique sealed crackle glaze technique, which he has been developing over the last 30 years. It is a difficult and precise chemistry, but worth every minute for the stunning results. Every single slide will have its own pattern of lines, some with many, some with few, but all organically formed and beautiful.” Sound - the tone is great! They sound brighter than glass slides, and warmer than metal ones. Playability - lighter in weight than you might imagine. They make much less ‘noise’ on the strings than most other slides. Durability - they have a similar finish to glass, but they are fired much higher, up to 1200°c; making them almost igneous rock. So it will be difficult to scratch them, and not easy to break.
