THE D.A.R.E. MODEL The DARE model is a coaching model that we use as our coaching tool to explore how you can create change in your life. The DARE model is an acronym for a four step journey…
D
•is for DESIGN
A
•is for ACCESS
R
•is for REALISE
E
•if for the EVOLVE
This model is based on the Meta Dynamics™ Critical Alignment Model, the foundation model of all coaching. Whilst this model explores questions in a particular order, it’s normal if you find yourself jumping between the sections & exploring the questions in an order that feels right for you & the participant. Explore the road ahead in a way that works for you both.
“MOST PEOPLE FAIL TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS IN LIFE FOR ONE SIMPLE REASON: THEY NEVER TAKE THE FIRST STEPS.” Anthony Robbins This model is one of many that will give you the opportunity to reflect on how you see the world, your goals, your ability to achieve them and will provide you with alternative thinking strategies so you can give yourself a new approach to a problem you have or a goal you want to achieve.

The DARE Model D IS FOR DESIGN Pick one area of your life that is on your mind at the moment. It may be an issue or challenge, or it may be something that is exciting & positive. Make sure that it is something that you can control or influence. 1. Write one sentence to describe the situation. 2. What is it about this situation/issue that led you to choose it? 3. How would you like this situation/issue to be? 4. How is this situation important to you? To your purpose? To your ideal life? 5. What will its achievement give you or allow you to be/do/have? 6. What is happening right now that tells you this is important to you? 7. How is this aligned with your values? 8. What beliefs will be needed for this to become a reality? 9. Write down the specific outcome you want to achieve as a result of this session.* *When you write this statement, use positive, ‘can-do’ language, rather than neutral or negative language. Example
Positive statement: By December 2004 I will be participating in the local tennis tournaments on a regular basis (monthly), enjoying the friendships that it brings, & playing effortless, great tennis.
Neutral statement: By the end of the year I’ll be good at tennis.
Negative statement: I won’t be playing bad tennis any more, and I won’t be lonely any more.

A IS FOR ACCESS Now we’re going to focus on the resources we need, what’s available to us, what’s not available to us, and what we need to consider to give us the best opportunity to succeed. 1. What is missing? 2. What are you tolerating? 3. What is happening that you would like to continue? 4. What have you attempted to do so far to transform this situation? What results did you get? What did you learn? 5. What obstacles are in your way that could prevent you from achieving this outcome? 6. What resources don’t you have currently? 7. What resources do you have currently? 8. Who is on your team to help you achieve this outcome? 9. Who would you like on your team to achieve this outcome? 10. What are your beliefs about achieving this outcome? 11. Are these beliefs capable of sustaining you as you achieve this goal? If not, what beliefs would you need to sustain you? 12. Who has already achieved an outcome similar to yours in this area? What can you learn from them? About their beliefs? About their manner? Their actions? Their strategies? Their choices?

R IS FOR REALISE Now we’re ready to determine the path forward that best suits us, maintains or enhances other areas of our life, and is aligned with our values. We may have to challenge a couple of limiting beliefs!
1. Brainstorm as many ideas as you can for options about what you could do about this situation. Not necessarily what you will do. Write down anything that could move you one step closer to your desired outcome.
2. What could you do if you weren’t answerable to anyone about your choices?
3. What could you do if you were without fear?
4. What could you do if every belief you had about this situation totally supported & sustained you?
5. What could you do if you could devote all your time to this situation, had total control or more money?
6. What could you do if you knew you could not fail and that there were no limits?
7. What could you do if winning or losing didn’t matter?
10. What could you do if the only outcome you desired right now was to learn more about yourself?
11. If you had a ‘clean slate’ and were able to start over from a time before this was an issue for you, what would you do?
12. If you secretly knew what you needed to do next, what would it be? What would you need to believe?
13. What if you’d done this before? How did you do it?

E IS FOR EVOLVE Now we know a whole lot about what it is you could do. It’s time to... ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………… ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………… ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………… ………………………………………………………………………………………………………
No decision has power unless we commit to action. 1. Looking at your options, which action or actions stand out as being the actions that would bring you just one step closer to your outcome?
2. What is your first step?
3. Is there anything you need to do to before you can take these actions?
4. If so, when will you have these other things done by?
5. What do you need to do to get these actions done? i.e. resources, information etc. When will you have these resources?
6. Who do you need to tell about your commitment? When will you tell them?
7. What obstacles are in your way? What are you going to do about it? By when?
8. What else do you need to consider?
9. When will you have completed these first action steps?
10. Take the time now to map out a rough journey to take, based on the knowledge you have. You don’t have to know all the steps. You may only know the first step. It may not be ‘right’. It doesn’t matter. Just start to plan out the journey for yourself.

THEN ONCE IT’S DONE: 1.
What have you learned?
2.
What would you do differently?
3.
How have you grown from this experience?
4.
How has this shaped your values? Your beliefs?
5.
What from this can you teach or share with someone else, so they may benefit?
