USeP prevails onto global transcendence Bulls triumph in Sports Baladad, Altamera are Ginoo at Binibini ng USeP


Bulls triumph in Sports by Prince Jay D. Esdrelon and Ferlyn J. Cabalida

With a total of 23,050 points, CE Bulls triumphed as this year’s overall champion in Sports. In men’s category, CE Bulls bested the six other colleges in Obrero Campus in Basketball, Football, Badminton and Table Tennis (Singles/Double), 4 by 100m and 4 by 400m Relay, Chess, and 200m Dash. For the women’s category, they took top in Lawn Tennis (Singles/Double), 1500m Dash, and Shot Put. CEd Falcons seized 2nd place garnering 22,030 points followed by CAS Erudite Owls with 19,430 points. Along with the intramurals is the intercampus selection of athletes from Obrero, Bislig, Tagum, Mabini, and Mintal campuses in preparation for the regional Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) competition.

USePians show off in Musicale by Abner John P. Jayme

USePians showed off their exceptional skills in Musicale Competition. CAS Erudite Owls bested the other colleges in Instrumental Playing and Vocal Solo (OPM) events. CT Thunders placed first in Vocal Solo (Kundiman) and Hip-Hop while CE Bulls ruled in Chorale. USeP Bislig topped in MTV Spoof. USeP Mabini seized victory in Vocal Duet (OPM), Dance Sport (Latin-American Category), and Contemporary Dance. CEd Falcons dominated in Indigenous Dance and Dance Sport (Modern Category).


Baladad, Altamera are Ginoo at Binibini ng USeP by Jorgeanne M. Barbarona

Matt Tzaddi T. Baladad of CEd and Shania Monica S. Altamera from USeP Bislig were this year’s Ginoo at Binibini ng USeP, respectively. Altamera was awarded Best in Filipiniana Attire and Best in Talent. Both she and Baladad were hailed as Most Eloquent. The 1st runners-up were Jocas G. Tañedo of CGB and Lymar Kaye R. Gamutin from CAS; Jhon Nicole G. Calledo of CAS and Glazel Joy H. Federizo from USeP Tagum were the 2nd runners-up; Czarjoy A. Dela Peña of USeP Mabini and Karin Joy M. Miñoza from CGB came in as 3rd runners-up; and Pavel Jervis D. Bacayo of CE and Merry Cris L. Dela Cruz from CEd as 4th runners-up.

Warriors win in HIV awareness film-making by Sean Arcent A. Marapao

CGB Warriors won in the Short Film-making competition on HIV Awareness, as their entry “Ya Pasa Comigo” bagged gold, and getting the most minor awards for Best Actress, Best Picture, and Best Director award. CAS Erudite Owls’ “Laso” was declared as silver medalist and received the Best Supporting Actor award. CEd Falcons’ “I Lived” claimed the bronze and was granted the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards. Meanwhile, SAEc Invincible Dragons ruled in the Charcoal Rendering garnering 500 points. CE Bulls and CAS Erudite Owls emerged as 2nd placer and 3rd placer, respectively. CEd Falcons soared high in the On-the-Spot Painting besting all the other colleges in Obrero with a score of 500 points. USeP Mabini was hailed champion for the intercampus division.



USeP prevails onto global transcendence by Rasheena D. Amanon

USeP prevailed onto global transcendence as the Intramurals 2016 Grand Production showed off for almost an hour last October 13 at the University grounds with the theme, “USeP Prevail: Prevailing onto Global Transcendence.� Cheers and yells filled the atmosphere after the raising of banners and ceremonial torch-lighting headed by student leaders of USeP. Several dance and song numbers took over the stage. They were performed by the USPEM, Hip-Hop Alumni, Contemp, Negative Four, P.E. Alumni, Spoof, and Hip-Hop Crossover. The crowd turned wild as the Electrical Engineering (EE) Youth once again performed their Nude Fan Dance. Showdown of cheerdance participants and candidates for Ginoo at Binibini ng USeP also took part in the production. University President Dr. Lourdes Generalao said in her remarks that the intramurals would not be a success without the OCSC and the studentry. She highlighted the laudable performances of USePians in various board examinations and the current developments of the university. She added that it would not be what it is today if not because of the students.

CE champs in Highlights by Gloyd Mesibas

CE Bulls champed in mascot, banner, and cheerdance competitions and was proclaimed as overall winner in Highlights with 4,050 points. CT Thunders, having placed in cheerdance and group stunts, was the 1st runner-up with 3,400 points. CGB Warriors, who got first in float, came in as 2nd runner-up with 3,150 points. CEd Falcons ranked 3rd runner-up as they bagged third place in cheerdance and first in group stunts. Another part of the highlights was the Fun Run held during the first day of the intramurals.

CEd Falcons emerged victorious with 4,700 points in the Communication Arts Competition, winning gold in Dagliang Pagtatalumpati, Pagkukwento, and Short and Sweet play.

With 4,650 points, CAS Erudite Owls which won in the Story-telling and Quiz Bowl is tied in second place with CE Bulls which won in the Parliamentary Rules & Procedure and Extemporaneous Speaking.

No comment. Boring. There was nothing unusual. I should have spent the week sleeping at home. Last year’s intramurals was better. Fair and square. The selections of representatives for interuniversity competitions are surely equitable since the external campuses are included in the various events. 50%

What can you say about the realignment of events with that of MASTS Friendship Games, PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival, and SCUAA Olympic Games?

We are really going national. I am glad they have come to realize it after all these years. My most awaited events were dissolved. USeP’s sports system is still weak. 59%
