Reviving the Tradition
Creating new memories
Ma Plage was once a vibrant space deeply integrated within Geneva’s social fabric. A place of constant interest and constant attraction, simply by virtue of this very fact. To revive this tradition is to revive the site.
By creating means and access to memorable experiences, Ma Plage can once again find its way back into the collective psyche of the city - securing itself as a destination to which one always wants to return.

Ma Plage Differentiation Potential
The Geneva Waterfront The vast majority of Geneva’s waterfront character is highly constructed, creating an inherent perceptual barrier: within its urban context, the lake is to be seen, not lived. Because of its inherent nature and qualities, Ma Plage has the potential to redefine this condition through new means of engagement with the water. Within the context of shifting social/urban values and eco-sensibilities, this holds particularly interesting potential.

Ma Plage : Mon Lac A Gateway to the Water
1
At one end of the Lake’s blue necklace is Mon Repos, a great natural asset within the city. Ma Plage lies at the other end, and has the potential to be an equally important access point to another of the city’s great natural assets: the Lake.

Ma Plage has the potential to be a true gateway to the water, offering the possibility for residents to engage with it in new ways, and in turn, appropriate the lake as a truly integral and natural space within the urban fabric of Geneva.

A place to go
A place to be

A place to learn
Ma Plage has the potential to be a new node within Geneva’s lake transportation and tourism infrastructure.
The footprint of Ma Plage has the potential to extend itself into the water - offering new possibilities for unique and natural places of rest, activity and programming.
Making the water safe and welcoming, Ma Plage can activate its waterfront beyond the traditional beach typology.
With increasing recognition of the importance of marine ecologies (and their environmental role), Ma Plage can be a site that offers insight, education and awareness on the subject.
