THE WRITTEN WORD Celebrating books and the power of the written word this season, we’re bringing some favourite adaptations, and authors tales to the silver screen. Embrace the literary with: The Bookshop (PG), a tale of subversion in a sleepy, seaside town, The Bromley Boys (PG), a nostalgic peek into the life of a true football fan, who supports his terrible club through thick and thin, The Happy Prince (15) remembers Oscar Wilde’s final days, Mary Shelley (12A) probes into the life of one of literature’s leading ladies, and Christopher Robin reminds us all not to forget the magic and imagination of our youth.

This summer, as part of the UK wide initiative Anim18, we’ll be continuing our explorations into the best of British animation - with shorts from the archives of the BFI, and with a special focus on women in animation, running alongside our F-rated screenings. Keep an eye on our website and socials for news on screenings, discussions, and workshops.
