WELCOME

BORDERLINES FILM FESTIVAL FRIDAY 28 FEBRUARY - SUNDAY 15 MARCH

FROM HEAD OF FILM, SIMON NICHOLLS

It’s the time of year that every local film lover seems to look forward to, the Borderlines Film Festival and a question I am always asked every year is which film am I most looking forward to. My answer is always the same, the last one! Not because I don’t enjoy the festival, the buzz and enthusiasm is very contagious, but with nearly 70 different titles spread over two screens making sure every film is in the right place at the right time needs intense focus and great planning with, sadly, very little opportunity to sit back and enjoy a movie or two. So, it’s not till that last film hits the screen that the team can all sit back and relax! At the time of writing I have no idea what the award season will offer. Probably some surprises and if so, I have kept back one or two slots in case we decide to revisit any of the winners so keep an eye on our website or sign up for the regular newsletter. In the meantime do try and catch Anthony Hopkins’ wonderful performance in The Two Popes and I hope you find something interesting to enjoy; remembering, of course, that films always look better on the BIG screen!

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.
