WELCOME FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Many of you will already know that, over the past few years, Herefordshire council’s annual funding for The Courtyard has gradually reduced from £326,000 per annum to £130,000 last year and from April 2016 this support comes to a complete end! As a result of this, The Courtyard will cease to open regularly on Sundays from 1 May, though we will continue to open on occasional Sundays for special events. The Courtyard is one of the most vibrant and outreaching arts centres in England and despite the financial challenges, we are committed to remaining a key part of the Herefordshire community for generations to come.
DID yOu KNOW? It costs around £1 million per year to keep the Courtyard open. Our annual footfall is around 300,000

the Café Bar offers great local produce presented in imaginative new dishes as well as more traditional offerings. Head Chef Jan’s marvellous cakes, quiches and salads are justly famous!
“Ladies who lunch” REVIEWED 10 JULY 2015
Other favourites include the Courtyard burger and our delicious fish pie. Back by popular demand, this season sees the return the traditional rustic Coq au Vin, Lamb Moussaka and the seasonal Pie of the Week, not forgetting the ever changing daily specials.
The Courtyard is one our favourite lunching places. The glass walled building fills with light. Furnishings are comfortable and clean. The ‘ladies who lunch’ usually spend a couple of hours there.
the Café Bar has something for everyone, so whether you are coming to a show, film or calling in for a light bite with friends; we hope to see you soon. Don’t forget that Courtyard friends also collect loyalty points to offer even better value.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The pick and mix salads are fab - look colourful, are tasty and nutritious. The portion sizes are generous and hooray, a variety of gluten free dishes.

Jimmy’s going nowhere. He has a wife but no future. He’s trapped in a world that doesn’t care for him and he doesn’t give a damn for it. He’s an Angry Young Man. This is Britain in the 1950’s but it is a play for today. Look Back in Anger exploded onto the stage in May 1956 and turned theatre upside down. It still packs a hell of a punch. After their striking success with Canary Girls, Young Bloods return with a powerful production of this exceptional play on the 60th anniversary of its premiere. tICKEts £15, CONCEssIONs £12

Among the greatest sonatas ever written, Beethoven’s Hammerklavier astonishes with its virtuosity, internal contradictions, and sublime slow movement, and remains a daunting pianistic challenge two hundred years after its composition. Danny Driver returns to Hereford to perform it together with lighter fare by Handel, Chopin, and Chopin-inspired Mazurkas by British composer Thomas Adès.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S THE MOUSETRAP A classic. A landmark. A legend. The Mousetrap is famous around the world for being the longest running show of any kind in the history of British theatre - with over 25,000 performances it’s a play to be proud of. Enjoy this once in a life-time opportunity to see this masterpiece here at The Courtyard. The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed. In her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha Christie has created an atmosphere of shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate plot where murder lurks around every corner. tICKEts £29.50 & £26.50 CONCEssIONs £27.50 & £24.50

CHAPLIN: THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN STORY
20
Chaplin - The Charlie Chaplin Story is a heart warming and powerful musical tale of the first true British icon of cinema. This fascinating story weaves through Chaplin’s early journey as a young boy through the dark streets of Victorian Vaudeville London to the glitz of early Hollywood.
