DIGGERS & DOZERS
Social Club I vividly remember waiting patiently for my copy of Plant Managers Journal to plop onto the doormat back in the day. I remember hiking off to my local branch of WH Smith to pick up the latest edition of Earthmovers magazine. And I remember the various digger forums that spawned with the spread of the Internet during the late 1990s. But we live in an age of instant gratification. If Caterpillar launches an upgraded wheeled dozer, we want to know about it now, not in a month’s time when the post arrives. When JCB unveils the next model in its X Series of excavators, we don’t want to drive to WH Smith in the possibly vain hope that (a) it will be covered in the new edition of Earthmovers and that (b) there is a copy of Earthmovers in stock. We want to know about it right now and – ideally – we want to see it in action too. It was this need to satisfy the constant demand for upto-date information, photos and video that prompted us to launch Diggers and Dozers on YouTube and as an electronic magazine and website. And it was this need that also prompted us to embrace social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and – increasingly – Instagram. At the time of writing, we have amassed an Instagram following of more than 41,000 people; each of them digger and dozer enthusiasts like us and like you. Based on current growth levels, we will have 50,000 followers long before the end of the year. The demand for the high quality photos and video content we’re posting there is truly staggering. An article on DiggersandDozers.com that performs particularly well might be seen by around 10,000 people over a period of a few weeks. It might be liked by a few hundred of those individuals; if we’re lucky it might be shared on social media by a couple of dozen of them. A similar post on Instagram will likely be seen by 20,000 people in 24 hours. It might be seen by 50,000 during the first week. We now have several posts that have been viewed by more than 300,000 people; and even more that have been viewed upwards of 200,000 times since they were first aired. And it’s not just one-way traffic either. While we rarely receive a traditional “letter to the editor” of the magazine nor any comments aide from the occasional one or two over on our Facebook page, Instagram is an active community of digger owners, operators and enthusiasts from the four corners of the globe. So if you want your digger fix fresh and delivered direct to your inbox, now is the time to get social. Head on over to Instagram, find DiggersandDozers, hit the follow button and get ready to join the party.

safeguard against machine vibration feedback to the operator. The quiet cabin reduces operating noise levels to just 71 dB, compared to 78 dB of its predecessor, with a sound-suppression package option to lower sound levels to 70 dB. Cab entry/exit is greatly facilitated through integration of the new fold-up STIC (Steering and Transmission Integrated Control System) armrest. STIC delivers maximum machine responsiveness and control plus smoother, faster cycles, while minimising operator movement to reduce fatigue. Simple side-to-side movements turn the machine to the left or right, and gear selection control is operated through a finger-controlled rocker switch. Removal of the steering wheel console vastly increases operator space and improves forward visibility of the work area.

First Choice Bell AFS, a leading specialist in earthmoving works and aggregates supply, has once again demonstrated its confidence in Bell Equipment by further investing in a new B30E Articulated Dump Truck.
Fleetm@tic, a satellite-based fleet management system that was first introduced on Bell ADTs in 2003, allows AFS to monitor machine productivity, utilisation and condition. The on-board weighing function, which has been standard on Bell machines for over a decade, also provides accurate, detailed information to ensure efficiency is guaranteed with every load. The B30E also benefits from an inclinometer as standard, which prevents tipping at various angles keeping both the driver, and any other operatives in the area, safe. “Having these features as standard on all of our ADTs over the past four years has placed us in an extremely competitive position, being able to provide our customers with a unique offering,” says Allen.
This evolved E-series ADT is the sixth Bell machine to be purchased by AFS since 2014, when it acquired its first B30E. This latest addition to the AFS fleet of earthmoving equipment will be tasked with predominantly muck shifting duties, making the most of the B30E’s powerful, yet economical, engine.
“Features, such as the inclinometer, also demonstrate our continued commitment to ensuring the safety of our drivers and our customers. The B30E has been an integral part of our fleet for four years, and I’m confident it will be there for the next four.”
“We operate a varied fleet of plant, trucks and equipment, all of which have been selected for their quality, efficiency and ability to deliver – and our ADTs are no different,” says Jason Allen, owner of AFS Earthmoving. “We initially considered the E-series, and specifically the B30E, from Bell Equipment as the machines featured all of the qualities we were looking for. One of the key deciding factors for us was the B30E’s fuel efficiency, which was extremely favourable in comparison to equivalent machines from other manufacturers,” says Allen. “However, this did not detract from the power and reliability of the engine, which performed consistently – and continues to do so – helping to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
“The B30E benefits from a long heritage of technological developments and is proving a popular option in our E-series range,” says Nick Learoyd, Managing Director at Bell Equipment UK. “Its midsize is practical, yet its low ground pressure allows it to work in areas where other trucks cannot reach. “We’re extremely pleased that AFS has chosen to add another B30E to its fleet. It is a strong demonstration of their confidence in the Bell brand and the build quality of our ADTs.”
“The B30E also came with a number of features ‘as standard’, including Fleetm@ tic and the inclinometer, which, at the time, were not included on competitor machines,” says Allen.

Bespoke Volvo in Russia The introduction of a modified Volvo EC250 crawler excavator and L120 wheel loader into Arkhsplav’s timber rafting operations has cut loading costs by five times while dramatically increasing productivity.
1,500km north-east of St. Petersburg, Russia’s Arkhangelsk region is characterised by vast coniferous forests of pine, spruce and larch. Along with fishing, forestry has been the province’s main economic driver since the late 1800s – but its traditional timber transport methods are struggling to keep up with today’s demand. Arkhangelsk Oblast is notoriously remote, with many areas unreachable by road. Instead, the region’s timber transport companies tie the logs together into rafts and
14
tow them along the channels of the Northern Dvina River. These rafts can be of enormous proportions. For Arkhsplav, one of Arkhangelsk Oblast’s leading timber transport companies, a raft can contain as much as 2,500m3 of timber. Previously, the company would assemble the timber rafts using floating cranes but the fleet was ageing and costs were mounting. In 2014, Arkhsplav contacted Volvo Construction Equipment, looking for an alternative that could bring its loading operations into the modern age.

Through the Volvo dealer network and in collaboration with qualified partner organisations, Volvo CE offers customers the chance to modify its proven machines to create special application solutions, tailored to their specific needs. The solution in this instance was a Volvo EC250 crawler excavator with a modified 20m boom working in tandem with a L120 wheel loader – both fitted with grapple attachments. Arkhsplav’s founder Aleksander Fedulov was involved in the design of the EC250’s custom boom from the start. “I, myself, took part in this first development,” he says. “The first version of the boom has been working for three years already.” The Volvo L120 wheel loader piles up the logs on the river bank, while the EC250 excavator forms the raft. The excavator crawler tracks are advantageous in improving safety on the unstable ground. “It has good cross-country capabilities,” says the EC250’s operator Sergey Lukin “And good visibility – even with a protective grill.”
equipment coped with it. We don’t know its actual limit yet.” Beyond its sheer practicality, another important part of the equipment’s success is due its highuptime and fatigue-limiting operator environment. “In general, it does not break down. This is the reliable thing,” Lukin says. “It has a comfortable seat and the noise insulation is perfect. The engine works almost silently. The
“The rest of the floating cranes are still in operation but the Volvo machines have reduced Arkhsplav’s loading cost by five times. The Volvo machines have also boosted productivity. “On average, the floating cranes load on average 100,000m3, whereas this excavator has already done 150,000m3 over the season,” says Fedulov. “The peak load in winter was up to 4,000m3 per day and the

instruments start, you see running digits and you understand that the engine has started.” The Volvo machines have also helped reduce idle time during loading and offloading. In the past, Arkhsplav sent two rafts down the river a day. Now it is able to send eight – and new roads have been constructed to support the increase in volume. “Let’s say this has improved production culture,” says Fedulov.

“We are always keen to secure the machines our customers ask for most regularly,” says General Manager, Paul Allman. “This has certainly been the case with the B20E. The size of the ADT has made it very popular with clients across all sectors; because it’s compact, making it more agile and fuel efficient.” “The model offers proven versatility and performs well in testing ground conditions. Our customers frequently comment on its cutting-edge technology, reduced running costs, the limited downtime it creates and its impressively low emissions. Hearing these observations first hand gives us confirmation that the B20E really is working well in the field.” “We’re delighted to hear that Hawk’s customers are benefiting from the capabilities of the B20E,” says Nick Learoyd, Managing Director of Bell Equipment UK.
26
“It’s a superb addition to any fleet, as it comes from the same stable as the acclaimed B30E, B40E and B50E, with comparable features and aptitude; however, it’s more compact, making it ideal for earthmoving tasks where space is limited. It offers the same power-to-weight ratio as our B30E – 5,11 kW/tonne – and as it’s fitted with wet brakes to offer sealed protection against deep mud. It’s in its element where ground conditions can be challenging. “The machine has been a huge hit since we introduced it to the UK market last year, presenting itself as a favoured workhorse on water-rich or peaty sites, such as those being excavated for housing developments and windfarms. “We hope Hawk’s latest B20E consignment creates the same demand as its forerunners and supplies Hawk with machines that consistently deliver for its clients.”

Headquartered in Bristol, Molson will use the investment to build a new national parts centre and additional depots across the UK. Working with leading OEM brands, Molson is the largest European dealer for Korean and Japanese excavators, including Hyundai, Kobelco and Ammann brands.
The company has also established Molson Green a full line distributor in waste management and recycling equipment offering all the equipment required for the handling and processing applications. Employing more than 200 people and with annual revenue in excess of £155m, Molson’s growth has been accelerated in recent years through acquisitions in the North of England and Scotland. In addition to investment in infrastructure, Molson will work with BGF to explore further acquisitions to continue expanding its national footprint. Earlier this month, Molson acquired Finlay Plant Limited and its subsidiaries, securing the distribution rights for the complete range of Terex Finlay machinery for England, Wales and the Channel Islands. BGF introduced the business to Bill Caplan who has been appointed as non-executive Chair. Bill is currently Chairman of Weldex International and CSH Surrey, following a career with Aggreko and UPS. “In recent years we have been focused on expanding our presence across the UK to provide national sales and after sales services to our customers,” says Robin Powell/Jonathan Wilson, managing directors of Molson. “We believe it is critical that distributors gain scale and offer a national service to meet the demands of today’s customers. Customers

are driving supply chain reductions and are focused on a national service level commitment. This investment will provide the opportunity to continue to add scale to our infrastructure and offering. “We have got to know the BGF team well and are pleased to be partnering with them. This investment will enable us to implement our plans at pace, with the support of BGF and its wider network.” BGF, which this year became the first and only investor to have been honoured for Innovation in the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, has made more than 20 investments in infrastructure, construction and waste management companies across the UK. The investment in Molson was led by BGF’s Bristol team, including Ned Dorbin, James Skade and Edwin Davies. “Molson differentiates by being a national operator for a full range of heavy equipment brands, aftermarket parts and the ability to service increasingly complex machines,” says BGF’s Ned Dorbin. “The company’s growth has been achieved through a strong and committed management team led by Robin and Jonathan, and a focus on developing longstanding relationships with UK customers and international OEM brands. We’re delighted to be supporting the company’s future growth as a minority partner.”

Hawk promote Diversity! On Saturday 14th July Plant Hire specialists, The Hawk Group, put on a careers event aimed at getting more women into the construction industry, particularly focussing on construction plant operating.
TThe event took place at Hawks training centre in Sandford near Whitchurch, Shropshire, West Midlands. On the day the ladies experienced driving machinery first hand at Hawks training facility, including operating Dumptrucks, tractors, telehandlers, excavators and a state of the art machinery simulator. They had the opportunity to talk to trainers, and a range of experienced professionals from the industry. This was the third Women in construction event Hawk have staged and most attendees are now beginning the process of starting their training programme to become fully qualified CPCS machine operators and begin their new careers with The Hawk
30
Group. “It was lovely to meet you and some of the team at the lady’s day on Saturday. It is so good to see a company promoting women in what is such a male dominated job. It gave me the opportunity to try operating the different types of machines and I enjoyed it very much, I look forward to starting my training and progressing my career with Hawk.” “With the volume of infrastructure schemes starting during 2019 and 2020 there is a significant need for new plant operators to enter the sector,” says Paul Allman, Group Board Director at Hawk Group. “We feel this provides a huge opportunity to develop a more diverse workforce and to encourage more women and ethnic minorities to enter the sector. This is our third Women in Construction day and the feedback from the people who attended has been fantastic. We have some great stories from women who are already operating plant and machinery on our projects throughout the UK and we hope to use this event as an opportunity for more women to consider the plant sector as a worthwhile career choice.”

Greenpower Plant Grows West Midlands based Greenpower Plant, along with their sister tool hire firm Hirelink UK have been steadily increasing their respective fleets of power generator products manufactured by the leading supplier, MHM Plant.
Greenpower Plant which boasts an extensive hire fleet of JCB machinery and power access equipment have increased their line of power generation products to encompass a power band between 10 to 100kVA. Hirelink UK, which principally serves the small plant and tool hire markets, have a large collection of power generators up to 8kVA. During the summer months, Hirelink UK is a renowned hirer of generators to outdoor festivals throughout the UK. Both companies are headed by David Green. “Running a small plant hire company and also a heavy plant hire company together means that I get all sorts of suppliers seeking a chance to use their products,” says Green. “The truth is we are very loyal; I have no need to use other suppliers whilst I am happy with MHM and, more importantly, my customers are happy. This means we can concentrate on other aspects of the business which need looking after, rather than worrying about generators and associated products.”

They confirmed that they have found that MHM to be a trusted manufacturer with a “fantastic” back-up service. “It’s inevitable that things sometimes do go wrong on site. But even if it’s 4.00pm on a Friday, we know if we call MHM it is always dealt with. Plus being able to call Mat, their managing director, at any time to deal with a problem is also a massive plus.”

and into the Midlands, NRI has always focussed on health and safety, achieving both SMAS Worksafe Contractor and CHAS Accredited Contractor status. “We are always keen to be first with health and safety and we wanted to be the first out there with the JCB cab,” says Contracts Manager Mark Radford. Indeed, the company has taken the very first 9T-1 site dumper equipped with the SiTESAFE cab from JCB. In recognition of the event, but in line with the firm’s policy of naming each of its machines after staff family members and children, the 9T-1 has been named Lord Bamford and given the fleet number 073, in recognition of JCB’s 73 years in business. NRI trialled the site dumpers before purchasing from local dealer Watling JCB. The machines have all been supplied with an extended warranty and a four-year repair and maintenance contract through Watling.
A mix of 6-tonne 6T-1 swivel tip and 9-tonne capacity 9T-1 forward-tip models, the site dumpers form part of a substantial investment in JCB machinery that also incorporates 20 excavators including zero tailswing JZ141 and 85Z1 models. The 6T-1 and 9T-1 dumpers are equipped with initial movement alarm, drive inhibit system, forward facing camera, green seat-belt beacons and high visibility orange lap belts. As well as providing protection from a rollover or a falling object, JCB’s SiTESAFE cab incorporates a protective front windscreen, toughened side and rear glazing along with reinforced frame.
The cab is equipped with heating and de-misting vents as standard. There is excellent visibility to the front, sides and rear of the machine from the cab, with a standard forward-facing camera. Additional cameras, mirrors and radar systems can easily be supplied. The wide-opening doors can be fixed in the open position without extending beyond the dumper’s rear bodywork, while flat glazing all round keeps replacement costs to a minimum.
The cab has been tested to withstand a front dump impact or a side slewing impact, from a 13-tonne excavator. Based on the increased level of protection offered, it is then risk assessment specific as to whether an operator can remain in the cab while being loaded.
The seat base has the space to tilt within the cab structure for access to the top of the engine and transmission and the cab can easily be removed for more serious maintenance work. In addition, the one-piece engine canopy tilts upwards to provide easy ground-level access to the engine and cooling system, with a side door for daily checks.
Allowing the operator to remain safely inside the cab during loading – rather than having to dismount while the excavator fills the skip – greatly improves site safety. It reduces the

Murphy goes Green Murphy Plant, part of the infrastructure company J. Murphy & Sons, has expanded its rental fleet, with a significant investment in lighting towers from Trime UK Limited. The order for forty-five X-ECO LED lighting towers will be used to renew and upgrade the Murphy Plant hire fleet of lighting machinery.
Before opting for the Trime product, Murphy Plant carried a thorough review of the lighting tower market. They chose the X-ECO LED sets principally because of their overall build quality and economical operation. With efficient performance at the core of its development, Trime have calculated that the X-ECO LED uses approximately £336.00 less in fuel each month, when compared to many traditionally illuminated lighting sets. Its sturdy, robust design is built to withstand the rigours of the rental markets. “Communication throughout the process has been excellent and Trime have responded promptly and clearly to all of our questions and requests throughout the procurement trials, case studies, commercials and internal marketing documentation,” says Murphy Plant’s director, Mike Carpenter. “They are well versed in trading with large organisations like Murphy and they make buying new equipment simple and efficient whilst providing short lead times.” The units have been delivered to Murphy Plant dressed in the iconic Murphy green livery, ready to be sent to sites throughout the country.

Centrocar, the Authorised Dealer for the Doosan range of construction equipment in Spain, Portugal, Angola and Mozambique, has supplied 12 new Doosan excavators to the stateowned Agricultural and Environmental Contractor, Tragsa Group.
The Tragsa Group has branches in all of the 17 Spanish Autonomous Communities, in order to respond quickly and effectively to any request from the Administrations in these areas. The Doosan DX255LC-5 Narrow Track excavator powered by a 6-cylinder Doosan DL06P diesel engine providing 141 kW of power and equipped with the necessary auxiliary hydraulic lines for hydraulic quick coupling, rotation, tilt, opening and closing of attachments and working with hammers, ensuring that the team has the versatility it needs to combine the excavator with any tools that may be needed in the tasks they have to carry out.
The 12 new machines comprise seven of the popular Doosan DX255LC-5 Narrow Track crawler excavators and five Doosan DX210W-5 wheeled excavators. It is well known in the construction sector that tendering for a Tragsa order is often a demanding process, due to the thoroughness of the requested data as well as the professionalism and exact requirements of Tragsa’s specifications. But it was a bidding process that attracted all the leading machinery manufacturers, all of whom were strongly committed to winning the contract.
The Doosan DX210W-5 wheeled excavator, like its ‘sister on tracks’ features the same Doosan DL06P engine, and offers the same versatility as the DX255LC-5 Narrow Track model. The Tragsa Group opted in all five units for the configuration of a front dozer blade and track stabilizers as the best option for their needs.
The Tragsa Group, with four decades of providing services to the community, works in a range of sectors such as agriculture, forestry, livestock, rural development and conservation and environmental protection.
The 12 units are equipped with high quality Geith hydraulic quick couplers and buckets for digging, ditching and also for shaping, all backed by Doosan aftermarket support.

Volvo Advance in Scotland Blantyre based Advance Construction Scotland Ltd has purchased another package of Volvo excavators which are all incremental to the company’s already massive fleet of equipment with options for even more machines later this year.
Having purchased their first Volvo compact excavators seven years ago, then again in 2012, the machines have proved themselves well on Advance Construction’s projects. “Opting for Volvo has proved to be a good decision for us. The machines have performed faultlessly, they give a good return on the investment and not least have been well appreciated by our machine operators, so as we continue to expand, opting for more Volvo excavators hasn’t been a difficult decision,” says Advance Construction’s plant manager, Gareth Mollan. “This time though, we’ve added an initial three EC140E excavators along with a 1.8 tonne EC18D and a reduced swing ECR88D and will be looking to add more Volvos in the immediate future.” “One of the key factors to our continuing success and growth is retaining good excavator operators and so we take particular notice of their opinions,” says Mollan. “Needless to say we find ourselves ordering more and more Volvo branded machines as they are much appreciated and very well-liked by the more discerning excavator operator.”

Bell for Ben Bennett In a move that reflects its confidence in Bell Equipment’s machine quality and competency, steel rolling mill and limestone quarry operation, Ben Bennett Jr., has announced its most recent acquisition of a new L2606E Loader that was secured to replace an existing machine.
52
Ben Bennett Jr, a family run company founded in 1883, comprises both a steel rolling mill in Rotherham, Yorkshire; a junior hacksaw blades manufacturer in Rotherham; and a limestone quarry in Matlock, Derbyshire; and is firmly placed as Bell Equipment’s longest standing client in the UK.

The company’s relationship with Bell began back in the late 1990s when the firm, which prides itself on its ability to achieve ‘never ending improvements in quality and productivity’, purchased its first Bell Equipment Articulated Dump Truck – a B25C model. Since then over 12 Bell machines have been put through their paces in the company’s Matlock quarry, extracting high quality grades of calcium carbonate of
various grades, including a recycled filler suitable for use in applications such as food, pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, glass and sealants. Three Bell B30E ADTs are currently providing impressive levels of performance onsite, loading material from the Matlock quarry face before transferring it to the primary crusher, as well as relocating waste to the quarry tip. However, Andrew Rawson, Director at Ben Bennett Jr., and his team were still keen to add a further Bell machine to the fleet; a wheeled loader that would be assigned to loading stock aggregates and plant stone to HGV lorries and dump trucks. “We needed a machine that would be completely reliable,” says Rawson. “and of a brand that could offer excellent service backup within close proximity to our quarry operation.” Having built a sound relationship with Bell Equipment and using his personal knowledge of many of the company’s ‘quarry capable’ machines, Andrew looked at bringing a new L2606E wheeled loader on board, using an attractive trade back package to springboard the purchase. Designed to perform within a variety of
53
applications, the Bell L2606E features on-board weighing as standard and, by including hydraulic ride control, increases site safety while affording improved operator comfort and maximum in-load productivity. Its extra heavy-duty axles are factory approved for solid or PU foam filled L5 pneumatic tyres, and by featuring a cyclonic pre-cleaner as standard on the engine, the life of the air filter has the potential to be considerably extended, while extra engine protection is achieved. “The L2606E’s Quadcool system is well-regarded as being the best on the market for combating radiator clogging,” says Nick Learoyd, Managing Director at Bell Equipment UK. “It makes the vehicle an ideal choice for use in notoriously dusty environments such as the quarry face, as Andrew and his team have discovered. “We’re delighted that Ben Bennett is choosing to continue its relationship with the Bell team and its evolving machines, and we look forward to meeting their fleet needs again in the not too distant future.” With the new L2606E already set to task in the quarry, Andrew Rawson confirms that he’s extremely pleased with machine performance to-date: “It’s a great model,” says Rawson “and exactly what we need. It’s stable when a full bucket is at maximum lift, and the driver comfort during operation is second to none. “The service from Bell has once again been excellent and I won’t hesitate to return when we look to replace further machines over coming months.”

“RJT’s on site team has nothing but positive feedback on the build quality, load capacity, traction in poor conditions, operator comfort, manoeuvrability and fast cycle times offered by the DA30 ADTs,” says Kim Dudley, Doosan Regional Manager – Northern Europe. Being new to the Doosan brand and to Gordons, RJT’s main concern was aftersales support for breakdowns, service and parts. All of these questions were more than satisfactorily

answered by Gordons and backed up by Doosan’s attractive 5 year/10,000 hour warranty on the ADTs. This gave RJT the confidence in the product, support and supplier to go ahead and place this important order. “Being a contractor, downtime is a major concern to RJT. Gordon’s excellent network coverage and the Doosan manufacturer’s warranty has given us peace of mind for the long term and we look forward to a good working relationship with Gordons and Doosan.” The DA30 features an articulation hinge positioned behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution to the front axle even during maximum steer articulation. This together with a free-swinging rear tandem bogie ensures equal distribution of weight to each wheel and guarantees permanent 6-wheel contact and drive for equal power distribution and excellent traction on difficult terrain. Collectively, the forward turning point, the unique tandem bogie and the sloping rear frame results in ‘best in class’ rough and soft terrain capabilities and avoids the need for electronic aids such as traction control.

The ‘best-in-class’ fuel consumption of Doosan ADTs is down to a combination of features including Scania diesel engines and a ZF EP transmission, improving the transfer of power from the engine to the wheels for outstanding traction. When this is coupled with the enhanced rear differential system which reduces engine rpm and further increases machine durability, customers are ensured of an improved cost per tonne carried with the Doosan ADT range.

horsepower. Drawbar power is increased by up to 13 percent. A 10 percent increase in steering torque, fully automatic transmission and differential steering combine to provide best-inclass steering performance under load.
Much of the productivity gain comes from a new Caterpillar-designed fully-automatic 4-speed transmission. The powertrain continuously optimises the dozer for maximum power and greatest efficiency based on the load. There is no need for the operator to upshift/downshift, so operators of varying experience levels can get the most from the dozer without having to manage gear shifts. The added gear and seamless lock-up clutch engagement ensure smooth shifting.
Caterpillar offers a choice of Cat Connect GRADE technologies to help get work done more efficiently and more accurately. Technologies range from simple grade indicators to full factory-integrated GPS, all supported by Caterpillar and Cat dealers. Cat LINK telematics technology helps take the complexity out of managing job sites – by gathering data generated by equipment, materials, and people – and serving it up in customisable formats.
The Semi-Universal (SU) blade capacity has been increased by 19 percent. At 10.3 m3, the largest SU blade in the size class finishes jobs in fewer passes. Optional patented Performance Cutting Edges increase blade payload by up to 25 percent versus standard cutting edges, especially in hard/ frozen ground or heavily compacted materials.
Like all Cat dozers, the D8T is designed for easy routine maintenance with features like grouped service points and a ground level service centre. New cartridge fuel filters, longer engine oil service interval and standard programmable automatic reversing fan help save maintenance time. New optional Heavy Duty Extended Life Undercarriage – Cat HDXL with DuraLink™ – offers up to 25% more

“The Bobcat T770 track loader combines an impressive 138.5 l/min hydraulic flow for work with attachments, a dump height of 2.65 m that gives me the ability to load trucks, and good accessibility to maintenance components, backed by excellent reliability and longevity,” says Joan Carles Mora. “The Bobcat D34 Stage IV engine has surprised me the most with its low fuel consumption. The suspension rollers give me unmatched comfort, similar I would say to that of a wheel loader. The SJC control system has also been a very pleasant surprise because it gives me a variety of driving possibilities in the three speed ranges as well as drift control and optimal hydraulics makes it very productive with the attachments.”
effectively in forests and scrubland, where there is no slope or undergrowth that cannot be negotiated. Jocar also has a Bobcat WS32 wheel saw for the T770 with which it can cut ditches 25 cm wide and 80 cm deep. The company also has a laser leveller for grading works. There is also a Bobcat 1 m planer attachment allowing Jocar to make repairs to streets in urban areas where larger milling machines cannot work as well as hammer and waste shredder attachments.
Like all Bobcat compact loaders, the T770 model is equipped with the quick-change Bob-Tach attachment mounting system, allowing it to be combined quickly and safely with over 70 different types of Bobcat attachment, delivering versatility and time-saving efficiency across a huge range of different applications.
“The attachments for me are the main difference that Bobcat offers over its competitors – you can see the years of development work they have put into them, and this gives them their added value,” says Moda.
“I chose this model mainly for its excellent hydraulic performance to be able to use high productivity attachments,” says Moda. “Our intention has and always will be to provide solutions for our customers and the T770 has allowed us to do this using it with attachments that cover all the needs of our work, including landscaping, roadwork, trenching, forestry and civil works. Thanks to the attachments we have for the T770, there is no work that I cannot do.”
“We also have a Bobcat R30S backhoe, which can help if we need to dig a trench in a hurry, though we do all the main digging work with the Bobcat excavators. Combined with the wheel saw, this gives us great capacity for trenching in different areas, and we carry out work in the gas, water, electricity and irrigation/landscaping industries. “By owning so many Bobcat attachments, we have continuous work for the Bobcat T770 loader, which completes more than 1000 hours of work all year round thanks to all the combinations with the attachments.”
The list of attachments Jocar has for the T770 is substantial. The company has a Bobcat FC200 brushcutter, giving it the capacity to work
