roject Green Fork hosted 300 attendees at the fourth annual Loving Local party at Wiseacre Brewing Co. on October 26. The event raised $15,000 for Project Green Fork while bringing awareness to local businesses. Attendees could dine on delicious food from Charlie Vergos’ Rendezvous, Fuel Café, Muddy’s Bake Shop and more while enjoying live music by country band Dead Soldiers. Art For Hope

hree hundred people attended the 12th annual Art for Hope fundraiser at the Opera Memphis Center on November 7. While browsing work from 35 local artists, guests enjoyed a variety of delicious entrees courtesy of Heart and Soul Catering. The artists’ work was also available for purchase and a portion of the proceeds were donated to Hope House. The art exhibition raised $10,000 to benefit the charity. Photos by CASEY HILDER

Grizz Gala

M

ore than 500 people attended the 5th annual Grizz Gala benefitting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on January 11. Gold Strike Casino partnered with the Memphis Grizzlies to host the event. Zach Randolph, Mike Miller and Marc Gasol are just a few of the players who participated in the evening’s activities. Guests danced to music performed by the Garry Goin Band and had the option to bid in both a silent and live auction. Flavors of Memphis Culinary Gala

ne hundred and thirty people attended this year’s Flavors of Memphis Culinary Gala at The Hilton-Memphis on March 30. The signature event featured a dozen Executive Chefs, and each

prepared a 5-course meal live for an assigned table. Dishes ranged from pan-roasted red snapper and seared Florentine ravioli to veal ossobucco.

emphis’ native sons, the folksy quartet known as Star & Micey, took to the stage for a lively performance that led to an impromptu set in the middle of the crowd. This marks the first year that Jeremy Stanfill, Nick Redmond, Geoff Smith and Joshua Cosby played at the annual festival.

A

t just 19 years old, Will Tucker is already a Beale Street Music Fest veteran. In his fourth consecutive year playing the festival, Tucker’s tunes shook the Horseshoe Blues Tent in front of a crowd of hundreds as he played a mix of cover tracks and original music, including a rousing rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and a selection of popular blues tunes.

ith his signature silver mane and ever growing selection of hits, “The Killer” Jerry Lee Lewis showed no signs of slowing down at this year’s Beale Street Music Fest. The 77-year old rock and roll legend shared a number of songs with a new generation of listeners, including his seminal Sun Studios hit “Great Balls of Fire.”

2014 Liberty Bowl

President's Gala

lmost 1,000 people attended the 55th annual President’s Gala at the historic Peabody Hotel on December 30.The President’s Gala is one of the Liberty Bowl’s longstanding traditions, offering dignitaries and fans alike a taste of uniquely Southern hospitality the night before the game. Liberty Bowl President Billy Hicks, Mississippi State University’s President Mark

Keenum and Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin were among those in attendance at this star-studded affair. Guests were entertained in the Continental Ballroom by artists such as Andy Childs and Diamond Rio. The Peabody served a delicious dinner, including steak and stuffed chicken, and hosted an open bar.
