Who’s Opening and Where Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) will open a 45,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack store at Cascade Plaza, a mixed-use center in Tigard, OR featuring a 130,000 sq.ft. retail component and a 200,000 sq.ft. office component. The store will join David’s Bridal, Burlington Coat Factory, Ross Dress for Less and Best Buy at the center, and is slated to open during the fall. The company also plans to open a 35,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack at The Block at Orange, located off of Interstate 5 and Highway 22 in Orange, CA. The store is slated to open during spring 2012, and will be the company’s fourth in Orange County, CA. The company operates 115 Nordstrom locations, 86 Nordstrom Rack stores, two Jeffrey stores and one clearance store nationwide throughout 28 states. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a Walmart at the intersection of Estero Parkway and U.S. Highway 41 in Estero, FL. The store will be smaller than the company’s typical footprint. The company also plans to open stores throughout Washington, DC late next year, including locations along New Jersey Avenue Northwest, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Missouri Avenue Northwest, at the intersection of East Capitol Street and 58th Street, and at the intersection of New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road. Each of the openings will feature a full grocery store, bakery, delicatessen and full-service pharmacy along with general merchandise. Trader Joe’s Co. (626-599-3700) plans to open a 14,700 sq.ft. Trader Joe’s supermarket in a portion of a two-story, 40,000 sq.ft. building located at the intersection of South Wabash Avenue and Roosevelt Road in the South Loop area of Chicago, IL. The company also plans to open a 12,000 sq.ft. store at Lincoln Heights Shopping Center, located at the intersection of 29th Avenue and Regal Street in Spokane, WA. The store will be the company’s first in Spokane, and is slated to open this year. The company currently operates 350 locations nationwide throughout 25 states, including 17 in IL and three in the Chicago area. Urban Outfitters, Inc. (215-454-5500) will open a 9,000 sq.ft. Anthropologie store at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, located in Allen, TX. The store will offer women’s apparel and accessories, as well as home décor. Joining Bonnie Ruth’s Café, The Londoner, Merle Norman and Chloe’s Treasures at the center, the store is slated to open during October. The company trades as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Leifsdottir and Terrain.
Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-477-4455) plans to open a Whole Foods Market at Metropolitan Miami, a mixed-use complex in Miami, FL featuring a residential component, an office and hospitality component, and a retail component. The store will be located at the intersection of Southeast 3rd Avenue and Southeast 2nd Street, and is slated to open during late 2013. The company also plans to open a location in Pembroke Pines, FL early next year, and currently operates 10 supermarkets throughout southern FL, including sites in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Inc. (201558-2400) plans to open 85 The Children’s Place stores nationwide this year, with the majority of those openings slated for value centers. Planned openings include a 4,200 sq.ft. store at Kingsport Town Center, a 529,000 sq.ft. two-level regional mall located in Kingsport, TN. Construction on the Kingsport store is slated to begin this month, with completion slated for the second quarter of the year. The children’s apparel store will join Belk, Sears, JCPenney and Marquee Cinemas at the center. Hibbett Sports, Inc. (205-942-4292) plans to open between 40 and 42 Hibbett Sports stores during the 2011 fiscal year, an increase from a previously-estimated 30 locations. The company also plans to expand 18 existing locations and close between 10 and 12 underperforming stores. The company currently operates 789 sporting goods stores nationwide throughout 26 states. Ross Stores, Inc. (925-965-4400) is slated to open a 28,700 sq.ft. Ross Dress for Less store in Olympia, WA during early March. The store was originally expected to open last year, but construction was delayed due to weather conditions. The opening will be the company’s second in Olympia. The company currently operates 1,036 stores nationwide throughout 27 states, trading as Ross Dress for Less and dd’s Discounts.
Francesca’s Collections, Inc. (713-8641358) will open an 800 sq.ft. Francesca’s Collections store at Harborplace & The Gallery, located in Baltimore, MD. The opening will be the company’s first in the Baltimore area and is slated to open during the spring. Lenny’s Delicatessen is also slated to open a 3,100 sq.ft. location at the center. The company operates locations, offering women’s apparel and accessories, as well as gift items, nationwide throughout 38 states. Casual Male Retail Group, Inc. (781-8289300) plans to open between eight and 12 Destination XL stores nationwide this year, having opened four locations during 2010 in Schaumburg, IL; Memphis, TN: Houston, TX and Las Vegas, NV. The company plans to operate between 75 and 100 Destination XL stores by fiscal 2015, and currently operates 445 Casual Male XL locations and 17 Rochester Clothing stores nationwide and internationally. Steinhafels, Inc. (866-351-4600) plans to open a 103,000 sq.ft. Steinhafels furniture store in a former Expo Design Center in Vernon Hills, IL. The location will be the company’s first outside of WI, and is slated to open during the fall. The company also plans to open a superstore on the east side of Madison, WI, and currently operates seven locations throughout the state. Walgreen Co.
