Who’s Opening and Where Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-477-4455) plans to open a Whole Foods Market in a former Circuit City located at the intersection of 196th Street Southwest and 28th Avenue West in Lynnwood, WA. The store is slated to open early next year. The company also plans to open a store in a former Havertys Furniture at The Shops at Arbor Trails, located at the intersection of South MoPac Boulevard/ Loop 1 and William Cannon Drive in Austin, TX. The store will join Costco at the center and is slated to open during the fall. The company also plans to open a 52,000 sq.ft. store at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn, NY. The store will feature a 20,000 sq.ft. greenhouse growing organic produce.

The opening will be the company’s first in the borough and is slated for late next year. The company currently operates 270 locations nationwide and throughout the United Kingdom.

Cabela’s, Inc. (308-254-5505) plans to open a 185,000 sq.ft. Cabela’s at Springfield Mall, located in Springfield, OR, during the spring.

The store will be the company’s first in the state and will be located adjacent to Home Depot. The company also plans to open a store at a development site located in Oregon City, OR. Starbucks Corp. (206-447-1575) plans to open 500 Starbucks locations during this fiscal year, 400 of the planned openings are slated for outside the U.S. and the projection, more than doubles the company’s current rate of openings.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) will open a 150,000 sq.ft. Walmart Supercenter along Highway 1 in Iowa City, IA. The store will feature deli, bakery, produce, frozen foods, dairy and meat departments, and is slated to open during May. The company also plans to open a smaller-format store in a former Alin’s Party Depot along Paramount Boulevard in Downey, CA. The company currently operates 4,000 locations nationwide, along with 200 smaller-footprint Walmart Neighborhood Market stores.

AutoZone, Inc. (901-495-6500) plans to open 140 AutoZone locations nationwide during the year. Potential openings include a 7,737 sq.ft. freestanding location situated on 0.8 acres along West Main Street in Medford, OR slated for September. The company plans to open an additional three stores in OR this year, and currently operates 4,600 locations nationwide throughout 48 states along with Washington, DC and Puerto Rico, including 28 stores in OR. page 4

Planned openings include locations at the intersection of El Toro Road and Trabuco Road in Lake Forest; the intersection of Newport Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa; the intersection of Camino del Norte and Dove Canyon Road in San Diego; the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and Vine Street in Oceanside; the intersection of Alameda Street and Florence Avenue in Walnut Park; the intersection of Seaward Avenue and Thompson Boulevard in Ventura; the intersection of Arneill Road and Las Posas Road in Camarillo, and at the intersection of Bonita Avenue and San Dimas Canyon Road in San Dimas, all slated for next month. The company also plans to open a store at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 33rd Street in Long Beach, CA during March.

Walgreen Co. (847-914-2500) plans to open a 14,418 sq.ft. Walgreens pharmacy on a portion of the site of a former Mega Foods along Trosper Road in Tumwater, WA. The store is slated to open during July.

The company also plans to open a 13,386 sq.ft. store in a strip center located at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and North Sprague Avenue in Tacoma, WA. The store will feature a drive-thru and a photo department and is slated to open during the fall. The company currently operates 8,046 locations nationwide.

Uniqlo (212-221-9037) plans to open more than 200 apparel stores nationwide by 2020.

Planned openings include a location along Fifth Avenue in New York, NY slated for this year, which will be the company’s second in the U.S. The company is also considering sites in San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL and Boston, MA. The company plans to open 80 locations nationwide and internationally by August of this year, and currently operates 940 locations worldwide.

Sunflower Farmers Market (303-5304809) will open a grocery store at Roseville Square, located at the intersection of Harding Boulevard and Douglas Boulevard in Roseville, CA. The opening will be the company’s first in the state and is slated for April. The company is also planning to expand into San Jose, CA and other areas within the state. The company currently operates 32 stores, offering organic and natural foods, throughout AZ, CO, NM, NV, TX and UT.

The store, the company’s first in Queens, will feature a bakery, an in-house butcher and an organic foods department, and is slated to open during spring or summer. The chain currently operates locations throughout Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan and Westchester County in NY, as well as CT and NJ. Trader Joe’s Co. (626-599-3700) will open a 14,000 sq.ft. Trader Joe’s supermarket along South Wabash Avenue in Chicago, IL. The opening will be the company’s fourth in the city and is slated for this year. The company also plans to open a 12,000 sq.ft. store along Washington Road in Upper St. Clair, PA. The store will be the company’s second in the Pittsburgh, PA area. The company currently operates 350 locations nationwide throughout 28 states.

Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. (630226-0020) will open an Ulta at Northshore Mall, located in Peabody, MA early this year. The store will join Verizon Wireless, Haagen-Dazs, Old Time Sports, Nordstrom, Macy’s, JCPenney, Filene’s Basement and Sears at the center.

Superior Grocers (562-345-9000) will open a supermarket in a former Albertsons at Park Plaza, located along Ramona Boulevard in Baldwin Park, CA. The store will join Fashion Plus at the center and is slated to open during late March.

Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) plans to open 10 Home Depot stores during the year, including seven locations throughout Mexico. The company currently operates 2,246 home improvement stores nationwide and throughout Canada and Mexico.

Dollar General Corp. (615-855-4000) plans to open as many as 12 Dollar General stores throughout the Buffalo, NY area during the next several years. Planned stores include a 10,640 sq.ft. location at the intersection of Genesee Street and Fillmore Avenue in the East Side area of Buffalo, with construction slated to begin during the spring and a projected fall opening. The company currently operates 9,000 stores nationwide throughout 35 states.
