Federal Realty Investment Trust is developing Assembly Square, a mixed-use development situated on 145 acres along the Mystic River and east of Interstate 93 in Somerville, MA. The project will feature an 800,000 sq.ft. retail component, a 1.75 million sq.ft. office component and a 2,000-unit residential component. The first phase of construction will include four buildings that will house an AMC movie theater, 330,000 sq.ft. of retail space and a 450-unit residential component, along with a six-acre park and is slated to be completed during 2014. The company is also slated to open a 100,000 sq.ft. store at Magnolia Park, located at the intersection of Interstate 385/Interstate 85 and Woodruff Road in Greenville, SC during spring 2014. It will be the company’s third location in the southeastern U.S. The company also plans to open six domestic next generation stores; one Canadian next generation store and two Outpost stores during the year, as well as eight domestic next generation stores during 2014. The company, offering hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and other outdoor-related equipment, apparel and gear, as well as gifts and furnishings, currently operates 40 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The Kroger Co. (866-221-4141) is slated to open a King Soopers supermarket at the intersection of 20th Street and Chestnut Place in the Central Platte Valley section of Denver, CO. The grocery store is slated to open during late 2014 or early 2015. The company currently operates 2,435 locations nationwide.

Dunkin’ Brands (781-737-3000) is slated to open 150 to 200 Dunkin’ Donuts stores throughout southern CA, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties, by 2020.

The company, offering coffee, donuts and breakfast sandwiches, currently operates more than 10,000 locations throughout 32 countries worldwide.

Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is slated to open a 138,500 sq.ft. Target store situated on 10.3 acres at The Shoppes at Westlake Village, located along 101 Freeway near Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village, CA. The store is slated to open during spring 2014.

Wingstop Restaurants, Inc. (972-6866500) is planning to open 191 locations during the next several years, as well as three to four international locations.

The company currently operates 550 quick-serve restaurants.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (800-4574779) plans to increase its count from 240 shops to more than 400 during the next several years. The company is also planning to operate more than 900 international locations by the end of 2017 and currently operates 142 franchisee stores and 98 company owned locations.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) is planning to open a 38,000 sq.ft. Walmart Neighborhood Market in a former Target along North Saddle Creek Road in Omaha, NE. The store is slated to open during summer 2014. It will be the company’s seventh proposed Walmart Neighborhood store in the Omaha market. The company trades as Walmart, Walmart Supercenter and Walmart Neighborhood Market and currently operates more than 9,000 locations nationwide and internationally throughout 15 countries.

Giant Food Stores, LLC (888-814-4268) is planning to open a Martin’s supermarket in Waynesboro, PA during 2014. The store will feature an expanded Nature’s Promise marketplace offering organic and natural foods, as well as kiosks that enable customers to print coupons and recipes. The company currently operates 52 Martin’s locations and 146 Giant Food Stores throughout MD, PA, VA and WV. Darden Restaurants, Inc. (407-245-4000) plans to open a Seasons 52 restaurant at Westfield Southcenter in Tukwila, WA during spring 2014. It will be the company’s first location in WA. Bass Pro Shops, Inc. (417-873-5000) is opening a 105,000 sq.ft. Bass Pro Shop at the intersection of Interstate 40 and Harrison Avenue in Cary, NC. The store is slated to open during late 2013 or early 2014. It will be the company’s second location in NC. Wendy’s International, Inc. (614-7643100) is slated to open 25 new locations and 40 franchise restaurants during 2013.

The company is also planning to open 60 franchised locations internationally and revamp 600 units by 2015. The fast-food restaurants currently operate 6,560 locations nationwide and internationally.

MC Sports (616-942-2600) is opening a store at Merle Hay Mall in Grand Rapids, MI. The store is slated to open this June.

The company, offering athletic apparel and supplies, currently operates 80 locations throughout the Midwest regions of the U.S. Meijer, Inc. (616-453-6711) is planning to open a 191,000 sq.ft. Meijer supermarket, located at the intersection of West Drexel Avenue and South Howell Avenue in Oak Creek, WI.

Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-477-4455) is planning to open a Whole Foods Market situated on 26 acres at Waterview Plaza in Parsippany, NJ by 2015. The company is also planning to open a location in a former A&P supermarket located along Washington Avenue in Morristown, NJ during 2015. The chain, offering organic and natural food items, currently operates 342 specialty supermarkets nationwide, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom.
