Who’s Opening and Where Tommy Hilfiger USA (212-840-8888) is slated to open a flagship Tommy Hilfiger location at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 54th Street in Manhattan, NY during the summer. The tenant joins Armani and Diesel. Spec’s Liquor and Finer Foods (888526-8787) plans to open a 24,772 sq.ft. liquor store in a former Linens ‘N Things site in Weslayan Plaza, a 355,761 sq.ft. center located along Weslayan Street in Houston, TX. The tenant joins Randall’s, Ross Dress for Less, Michaels, Chuck E. Cheese’s, OfficeMax and Walgreens. The company currently operates 49 stores throughout TX, including 28 in the Houston metropolitan area. Kohl’s, Inc. (262-703-7000) is slated to open 55 Kohl’s locations nationwide this year and remodel another 51. The company looks to open 19 before the spring, including the company’s first store in AK. The remainder of the locations will open during the fall, with the majority of those openings occurring in former Mervyn’s sites. Dick’s Sporting Goods (724-273-3400) plans to open nine Dick’s Sporting Goods locations during the first quarter and will open a location at Park Lane, a multi-use development located in Dallas, TX. The company will also open one Golf Galaxy location during the first quarter. The company currently operates 384 stores and plans to eventually operate 800 locations nationwide. Academy Sports & Outdoors (888-9222336) is slated to open an Academy Sports location in Fort Worth, TX during June, the company’s 13th in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The company plans to open 10 sporting goods stores throughout the area during the next five years and plans to double its overall store count from 112 as it expands toward the East Coast. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) will open a 143,000 sq.ft. Target along La Madrona Drive in Scotts Valley, CA. The company opened 27 stores last month, including 21 Target locations in AR, CA, FL, GA, HI, IA, NV, NJ, OH, OK, PA, TN, TX, VA and WI and six SuperTarget locations in FL, GA, IL and TX. With the openings, the company currently operates 1,699 stores nationwide.

Who’s Opening and Where Lumber Liquidators, Inc. (757-259-4280) is scheduled to open between 30 and 36 Lumber Liquidators stores this year, as part of a plan to open between 30 and 40 locations annually. The company opened seven stores, selling hardwood flooring, during the fourth quarter of 2008 and opened a total of 34 stores during the year. The company currently operates 150 stores nationwide throughout 44 states. Tractor Supply Co. (615-366-4600) will open a 19,097 sq.ft. store along Sussex Highway in Seaford, DE during May. The store, selling farm and ranch supplies, will feature a fenced exterior area for display of fencing, sprayers and livestock equipment, as well as storage, and will be the company’s third in DE. Burger King Brands, Inc. (305-378-3000) plans to open six Whopper Bar locations in select markets nationwide during the next six to 12 months, including a restaurant in Munich, Germany during the summer. The restaurants feature a smaller footprint than traditional Burger King locations, an open kitchen and circular bar and offer custom-made burgers with a choice of 22 toppings. The company recently opened a Whopper Bar location at Universal CityWalk, a 30-acre shopping and entertainment center located in Orlando, FL. Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth (817514-9253) is planning to open four Goodwill Superstore locations throughout Tarrant County, TX this year, including an 18,000 sq.ft. location in a former Food Lion site at the intersection of Altamesa Boulevard and Crowley Road in Fort Worth. The thrift superstores are larger than the company’s typical footprint and feature drive-thru donation areas and career centers, in addition to the sales floor. Office Depot, Inc. (561-438-4800) is slated to open 15 Office Depot locations this year, down from original projections of 20 to 30, and close 118 locations nationwide. The openings come as a result of contractual obligations. Lowes Cos, Inc. (704-758-1000) will open between 60 and 70 Lowe’s Home Improvement stores this year, including five in Canada and two in Mexico. The company recently opened a 117,000 sq.ft. hardware superstore at the intersection of Montana Avenue and Loop 375 in El Paso, TX.
