Who’s Opening And Where Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a 14,400 sq.ft. Walmart Express store in Gentry, AR. The store is one of 40 smaller locations the company plans to open this year in rural and urban areas nationwide, and will feature a pharmacy, a grocery department and a smaller selection of general merchandise, with three or four checkout counters. The opening will be the company’s first in the Express concept, which is approximately 8% of the size of a typical Walmart Supercenter location. The company also plans to open a 123,000 sq.ft. Walmart store in a former Costco along South Mooney Boulevard in Visalia, CA. The opening would be the company’s second in the city, and will not offer a full line of groceries. NeighborMD (615-938-7190) plans to open an urgent care clinic in a space formerly tenanted by Hollywood Video and Game Crazy at Peartree Village Shopping Center in Brentwood, TN. Construction on the clinic began this month with an opening slated for the summer. The clinic will be the company’s second, following an opening in Hermitage, TN during January. The company plans to open 14 urgent care facilities throughout central TN and southern KY during the coming four years. Wireless Zone (866-994-3577) plans to open 60 franchised locations by October of this year, bringing the company’s franchise store count to 500, and also plans to open stores along the western coast of the U.S. The company, exclusively offering Verizon products, also operates 12 corporate-owned locations. Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (704-758-1000) will open a Lowe’s Home Improvement store at Citadel Crossing, located near Galley Road in Colorado Springs, CO. Construction on the store is slated to begin during June with an opening projected for January of next year. The company currently operates approximately 1,800 locations nationwide, including four in the Colorado Springs area. Family Video (847-904-9000) looks to open stores throughout the Dayton, OH area, including sites in Centerville and Miamisburg, OH. The company opened 123 stores last year and currently operates 750 locations nationwide throughout 19 states, including eight in the Dayton area. Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. Scheels All Sports, Inc. (701-232-3665) will open a 220,000 sq.ft. Scheels sporting goods and apparel store at One Fourteen, a project currently under development along 11400 South between Interstate 15 and State Street in Sandy, UT. Construction on the center began this month with an opening slated for fall 2012. The store will feature a 65-foot tall Ferris wheel and a 16,000 sq.ft. saltwater aquarium. The company currently operates 23 locations, offering apparel and equipment for hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, bicycling and other outdoor activities, nationwide throughout eight states. Safelite Group (877-800-2727) plans to open 10 Safelite AutoGlass stores throughout southern CA, including an 8,000 sq.ft. store along North Main Street that opened during March in Riverside, CA. With the new openings, the company will operate 23 locations throughout the area. The company also plans to relocate two existing stores, having relocated two locations earlier this year. Tumi, Inc. (908-756-4400) will open a 1,500 sq.ft. Tumi store at Plaza Frontenac, located in St. Louis, MO. The store, offering travel, business and lifestyle accessories, is slated to open during June and will join Soma Intimates, Omega Boutique, Neiman Marcus, Crane & Co. and Bissinger’s Chocolates at the center. Casual Male Retail Group, Inc. (781-8289300) plans to open between 10 and 14 Destination XL stores nationwide this year, up from a previously-estimated eight to 12 locations. The company operates 445 Casual Male XL locations and 17 Rochester Clothing stores nationwide and internationally.
Von Maur, Inc. (563-388-2200) plans to open a 4,500 sq.ft. Dry Goods store at West Towne Mall, located in Madison, WI. The store will be the second in the Dry Goods concept, which offers apparel and accessories for young women, and is slated to open during late summer. The company plans to open two to three additional Dry Goods locations throughout the midwestern region of the U.S. this year, with a focus on centers in the midwestern region of the U.S., and eventually plans to establish a national presence for the concept. The company currently operates 25 specialty department stores throughout 10 states nationwide, and also plans to open a Von Maur store in Atlanta, GA during the fall. Gino’s Burgers & Chicken, LLC (610-9451889), through franchisee A&M Hospitality of Maryland, plans to open 10 Gino’s restaurants throughout the Baltimore, MD area. The locations are slated to begin opening during the fall. The chain originally had more than 500 locations nationwide before being converted into Roy Rogers restaurants in 1982, and currently operates one location in King of Prussia, PA, which opened during October of last year. Harbor Freight Tools (805-388-1000) will open a 16,000 sq.ft. store in a former Old Navy at Regency Point Shopping Center, located along South Green Bay Road in Racine, WI. The store, offering hand, power and air tools, engines and generators, lawn and garden supplies and automotive and motorcycle tools and equipment, will join Bed Bath & Beyond and Pick ‘N Save at the center.
AutoZone, Inc. (901-495-6500) plans to open an 8,000 sq.ft. AutoZone store at the intersection of Northwest Cornell Road and Murray Road in Cedar Mill, OR. The store is slated to open during mid-June and will offer auto repair parts and accessories. The company currently operates 4,600 locations nationwide throughout 48 states along with Washington, DC and Puerto Rico, including 28 stores in OR.
Cinetopia (360-213-2800) will open a 20-screen movie theater at Prairiefire at LionsGate, a planned development on 60 acres at the intersection of 135th Street and Nall Avenue in Overland Park, KS, featuring a 350,000 sq.ft. retail component and a 291,000 sq.ft. office component. Construction on the project is expected to begin early next year. The theater, branded Cinetopia Overland Park 20, is slated to open during spring 2013 and will feature high-definition projection and Dolby 3D digital technology.
Charming Charlie (713-579-1936) plans to open an 8,418 sq.ft. accessory store at Clay Terrace, a 504,000 sq.ft. center located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and 146th Street in Carmel, IN. The store is slated to open during the spring. Soma Intimates and Ann Taylor also plan to open 3,062 sq.ft. and 4,150 sq.ft. locations at the center, respectively.
Saladworks, LLC (610-825-3080), through a franchisee, plans to open a Saladworks restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The company also plans to open a restaurant at Millcreek Shopping Center in Wilmington, DE during early summer.
