Who’s Opening and Where Tawa Supermarkets, Inc. (714-521-8899) will open a 45,000 sq.ft. 99 Ranch Market in a former Levitz Furniture space at Rose Pavilion, located at the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Rosewood Drive in Pleasanton, CA, during the spring of 2010. The opening of the Asian supermarket will be the company’s third in as many years in the Tri-Valley area, having opened locations in Dublin and San Ramon, CA during 2007. Express Fitness will also relocate to a 19,000 sq.ft. facility in a former Consignment Plus site at the center during November and Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market will open a 15,000 sq.ft. store at the center during the summer of 2010 in the former Express Fitness site. Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. (330-656-2600) is slated to open 20 Jo-Ann Fabrics stores this year and remodel another 30. Last year, the company opened 21 stores and remodeled 29. Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) is slated to open a Wal*Mart Supercenter at a 60-acre project located along Route 61 in Tilden Township, PA during 2011. The tenant will join Lowe’s Home Improvement, which is slated to open during 2010.
Aldi, Inc. (630-879-8100) will open an Aldi location at the intersection of Louisville Road and U.S. Highway 129 in Alcoa, TN. The 16,500 sq.ft. private-label supermarket will occupy 2.1 acres at the former site of Blount County Communications Center and will open during late 2010 or early 2011. The company also plans to open two or three supermarkets in the Knoxville, TN area during the next several years.
Lululemon Athletica, Inc. (604-732-6124) plans to open six Lululemon Athletica locations this year as part of a plan to eventually operate 300 locations throughout North America. The company currently operates 113 of the stores, offering yogathemed apparel for men and women in addition to yoga accessories, throughout North America and Australia, with 103 company-owned stores.
Best Buy Co., Inc. (612-291-1000) is slated to open 45 Best Buy electronics stores nationwide this year.
Chan’s Wine World (850-269-2909) is scheduled to open Wine World stores in Jacksonville and Orlando, FL this year. The company will also open a Wine World Outlet location at Uptown Station, a Winn Dixie-anchored center located along Eglin Parkway in Fort Walton Beach, FL, during June. The 5,000 sq.ft. outlet store will offer wine, beer and small-batch liquors.
Shoe Carnival, Inc. (812-867-6471) is slowing its opening of Shoe Carnival stores and will open fewer stores this year than the 24 stores the company opened during 2008. The company closed 11 stores last year and will close 10 stores this year and at least eight stores during 2010, four stores during 2011 and one store during 2012. The company currently operates 304 shoe stores throughout 29 states in the Midwest, South and Southeast. The stores offer namebrand and private label footwear, including dress shoes, casual shoes, sandals, boots and athletic shoes, for the entire family.
Bang & Olufsen a/s (847-590-4970) will open a 1,700 sq.ft. Bang & Olufsen electronics shop at Founders Hall, a mixed-use urban center located along College Street in Charlotte, NC currently undergoing renovations and scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2010.
