WHO’S OPENING AND WHERE Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. (303-568-8000) is planning to open 75 to 85 fast-casual restaurants during this fiscal year, including 15 to 20 corporate-owned units. The company operates under the trade-names Einstein Bros. Bagels, Noah’s New York Bagels and Manhattan Bagels at 459 corporate-owned locations and 115 franchised locations. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. (724-273-3400) is planning to increase its store count to 800 Dick’s Sporting Goods locations by the end of fiscal 2017. The chain currently operates more than 558 Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and more than 87 Golf Galaxy locations nationwide. Taco Bell Corp. (949-863-4579) will open a new restaurant concept called U.S. Taco Co. in Huntington Beach, CA. The average price points of the new concept will be almost double of a Taco Bell and it will cater to millennials. A second location is in the works in southern CA. Ramla, Inc. (818-205-9267) is planning to open 150 restaurants nationwide. The company, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, operates 154 locations under various tradenames, including Izakya Japanese, Gyoro Gyoro and Oto-Oto. Bluemercury, Inc. (800-355-6000) is planning to open 12 to 14 Bluemercury stores this year and another 20 to 25 locations during 2015. The chain of beauty stores, offering skincare products, cosmetics and fragrances, as well as spa and gift items, currently operates 47 locations nationwide.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a 15,000 sq.ft. new concept store located at the intersection of J Street and South Walton Boulevard in Bentonville, AR. The store will include 10,000 sq.ft. of selling space for produce, perishables and dry goods. Customers can drive-up and pick-up their online orders without leaving their car. Also, a 150,000 sq.ft. Walmart Supercenter is opening along Broadway in Green Bay, WI. The company, offering general merchandise, groceries, health and beauty items and electronics, also trades as Walmart, Walmart Supercenter, Walmart Neighborhood Market and Walmart Express and currently operates more than 9,000 locations, as well as more than 621 Sam’s Club locations, nationwide and internationally. Roundy’s, Inc. (866-279-6269) is planning to have a total 29 Mariano’s Fresh Market locations opened by the end of the year. A location recently opened in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The company also operates under the tradenames Pick ‘N Save, Copps, Rainbow and Metro Market. The Johnny Rockets Group, Inc. (949643-6100), through franchisee Fun Foods, LLC, is planning to open Johnny Rockets locations throughout HI and Guam. The franchisee also operates family entertainment centers, trading as Fun Factory in CA, GA, SC and TN. Corner Bakery Café (972-619-4100) plans to open 40 franchised units next year, followed by 50 openings during 2016. Expansion will include growth throughout IN, MN, MO and TN. The chain, offering soups, sandwiches, paninis and salads, currently operates 1,800 locations nationwide. Juice It Up (949-475-0146), through a franchisee, is planning to open 11 locations by the end of the year. The company also has expansion plans in the works throughout AZ, CA, FL, NV and TX. The 80-unit chain of juice and smoothie shops currently operates locations throughout AZ, CA, NM and TX. Kona Grill, Inc. (480-922-8100) is planning to open Kona Grill restaurants in Columbus, OH; Plano, TX and Fairfax, VA this year.
