Who’s Opening and Where CVS Caremark Corp. (877-265-7325) is slated to open a CVS pharmacy at the intersection of Southwest 13th Street and 16th Avenue in Gainesville, FL. Construction is scheduled to begin for the store, which will be the company’s 11th location in the area, during September. The company also plans to open five locations throughout the Tulsa, OK area during 2010. The openings include a 13,000 sq.ft. site located at the intersection of 96th Street North and 129th East Avenue in Owasso, slated to open during the fall. The company currently operates 7,000 locations nationwide. The Scooter Store, Inc. (800-391-7237) plans to open 59 The Scooter Store locations nationwide. The company currently operates eight locations, offering scooters and power chairs for senior citizens. The new openings are part of a plan to expand the store’s product line to include medical equipment including iron lungs, oxygen tents, nebulizers, catheters, hospital beds and wheelchairs. Coldwater Creek, Inc. (208-263-2266) plans to open 20 Coldwater Creek stores this year. The company currently operates 356 apparel stores nationwide.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. (585-3282550) plans to open a Wegmans at Shops at Seneca Meadows, a 156-acre mixeduse project located at the intersection of Observation Drive and Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown, MD. The store will anchor the center, is slated to open during 2012 and will be the company’s first in the area. The company also plans to open a store in Lanham, MD during October. American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (724-7764857) plans to open 14 American Eagle Outfitters locations and 20 Aerie locations during 2010. The company will also open five stores in a new concept, 77kids, offering apparel for children ages two to 10. 7-Eleven, Inc. (972-828-0711) plans to open 200 7-Eleven convenience stores throughout NJ by 2011, including five locations in Monmouth County and three in Ocean County during 2010. The company is also slated to open five locations throughout central FL this year, as part of a plan to open or convert 45 locations in the area by 2012. The company also plans to open between 15 and 20 stores throughout the Las Vegas, NV area during the next three years. The company currently operates 6,970 locations nationwide and throughout Canada, including companyowned, franchise and licensed units. TJX Cos., Inc. (508-390-3000) plans to open 130 locations this year, as part of a plan to eventually operate 4,200 units nationwide. The openings will mostly be in the T.J. Maxx and Marshalls trade concepts, and several will be part of the company’s European expansion. During 2009, the company opened 91 new stores. The company will also introduce a smaller concept store during spring 2011, and plans to eventually operate 100 units in the new footprint. The company currently operates 2,700 locations nationwide under the T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and A.J. Wright trade names.

Who’s Opening and Where Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) is slated to open a 35,375 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack store at Promenade Shops, a 300,000 sq.ft. center located in Aventura, FL. The company is also slated to open a 35,351 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack at Burbank Empire Center, a 900,000 sq.ft. center located in Burbank, CA. The store is slated to open during October and will join T.J. Maxx, Michaels, Costco, Target, Ulta and Best Buy at the center. The company also plans to open Nordstrom Rack stores in Boca Raton, FL during September and in Tampa, FL and Lakewood, CA during October, as well as two additional Nordstrom Rack locations in the greater Orange County/Los Angeles, CA area during 2011. The company will also open a full-line Nordstrom location at Santa Monica Place Mall, located in Santa Monica, CA, during August. The company currently operates 189 locations nationwide throughout 28 states, including 113 fullline Nordstrom stores, 73 Nordstrom Rack locations, two Jeffrey boutiques and a clearance store. The Kroger Co. (513-762-4000) will open a 100,000 sq.ft. Kroger Marketplace at Watercress Green, a mixed-use development situated on 86 acres at the intersection of U.S. Highway 72 and Jeff Road in Huntsville, AL. The store will feature a drive-thru pharmacy and natural foods, deli and bakery departments, and is slated to open by year’s end. The company will also open a 123,000 sq.ft. Kroger Marketplace at Sam Houston Town Center, a shopping center currently under development at the intersection of Interstate 45 and FM 1097 in Willis, TX. The store will anchor the center and is slated to open by the first quarter of 2011. Chick-fil-A, Inc. (404-765-8000) is slated to open a 4,600 sq.ft. Chick-fil-A restaurant at Plaza at the Speedway, located along Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, KS, as part of a plan to open as many as 70 locations during 2010. The location will be the company’s seventh in the area and is slated to open during August. The company also plans to enter into the Chicago, IL market with two locations by year’s end. The company currently operates 1,480 locations nationwide throughout 38 states and Washington, DC. Hibbett Sports, Inc. (205-942-4292) plans to open 30 Hibbett Sports locations, close between 10 and 15 and expand 20 highperforming locations by the end of the 2011 fiscal year. During the previous fiscal year, the company opened 42 locations, closed 20 and expanded 19. The company currently operates 767 sporting goods stores nationwide throughout 24 states.

Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. (330-656-2600) plans to open 30 Jo-Ann Fabrics locations this year, including a 22,000 sq.ft. store in a former Gottschalks site at Pioneer Crossing, located along South Third Street in Bend, OR. The company will relocate from an existing store across the street. The store is slated to open during the fall. The company also plans to close 30 stores and remodel at least 40 existing locations. The company currently operates 746 craft stores nationwide throughout 48 states. Big Lots, Inc. (614-278-6800) is slated to open a 30,000 sq.ft. Big Lots at The Crossing, a 550,000 sq.ft. shopping center located on State Route 146 in Clifton Park, NY, as part of a plan to open 140 locations over the next three years. The store is slated to open during late summer and joins Home Depot, Target, Petco, Michaels, Kohl’s, OfficeMax, Red Robin, Cracker Barrel and Famous Footwear at the center. The company currently operates 1,339 locations nationwide throughout 47 states, offering closeout and overstock merchandise. Big Y Foods, Inc. (413-784-0600) is slated to open a 55,000 sq.ft. Big Y Supermarket in a former Franklin Buffet restaurant site located on Route 140/East Central Street in Franklin, MA. The supermarket will offer prepared meals, organic and gluten-free foods, a butcher shop, seafood and a large produce department, and is slated to open during the fall of 2011. The company currently operates 57 locations throughout CT and MA. Crumbs Bake Shop (877-278-6270) plans to open locations this year throughout the Chicago, IL and Washington, DC markets, as part of a plan to operate 40 locations nationwide by year’s end and 55 by 2012. The shops offer more than 50 varieties of cupcakes, as well as cakes, muffins, cookies, brownies and coffee. The company recently opened a 1,400 sq.ft. location along West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich, CT. Oakville Grocery Co. (480-596-8200) is slated to open a 9,300 sq.ft. Oakville Grocery at CityScape, a development bordered by First Avenue, Second Street, Washington Street and Jefferson Street in Phoenix, AZ. The store will be the company’s second in the state. Learning Express, Inc. (978-889-1000), through franchisees, plans to open between 17 and 20 Learning Express toy stores nationwide this year. Noodles & Co., Inc. (720-214-1900) plans to open five locations throughout the Kansas City, MO area. The openings will include a site at State Line Shopping Center, located along State Line Road in Prairie Village, KS, slated to open during late summer, and a location at the intersection of 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, KS. The company recently opened a location at Country Club Plaza, located on Nichols Road in Kansas City. The company currently operates 230 restaurants, offering made-toorder noodles, soups and salads, nationwide throughout 18 states. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) is slated to open a Target store situated on five acres in a former Lord & Taylor site at Christiana Mall, located in New Castle County, DE, as part of a plan to open ten locations nationwide this year, as well as remodel existing stores to feature a new layout for beauty, home and electronics departments. The store, featuring exterior and interior entrances from the mall and an expanded food section offering meats, produce and other items, is slated to open during October. Nordstrom is also slated to open at the center in a former Strawbridge space during 2011. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) will open a 185,000 sq.ft. Walmart Supercenter along East Second Street in Reno, NV. The store, which will include a grocery component as well as tire and garden centers and a drive-thru pharmacy, was initially slated to break ground during February 2009 but was delayed due to environmental issues at the site. The store will replace an existing Walmart at Northtowne Plaza in Reno, and is slated to open during the fourth quarter of this year. Zoup! Fresh Soup Co. (800-940-9687), through a franchisee, plans to open a Zoup! restaurant in NJ this year, as part of a plan to open five within the state during the next five years. The restaurants offer a selection of hundreds of different soups made with fresh, natural ingredients. The company recently opened its first franchise location in the state at Menlo Park Mall in Edison. The company currently operates 22 restaurants, including six company-owned stores, 14 franchises and two licensed locations, nationwide. Hot Topic, Inc. (626-839-4681) plans to open 10 Hot Topic locations during 2010, as well as remodel or relocate 25 to 30 stores and close between five and 10 units. The company trades as Hot Topic at 680 locations and as Torrid at 156 locations nationwide.
