Who’s Opening and Where Eye Care Centers of America, Inc. (210340-3531) will open a Visionworks location at Volusia Mall, located along West International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach, FL. Applebee’s is also slated to open at the center during the fall. The company currently operates 400 locations under 11 trade names, including 140 Visionworks stores, nationwide. Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill (480-612-6380 or 866-598-3527) will open a restaurant at The Shops at La Cantera, located in San Antonio, TX. The restaurant will seat 275 patrons and feature an exhibition kitchen, a private dining room and an outdoor dining space, and is slated to open during November. The company currently operates locations throughout AZ, CA, TX, UT and WA. Lazy Dog Café (714-596-9960) plans to open two to three locations during 2011, including a restaurant in Cerritos, CA slated to open during March. The company recently opened a location at The Promenade Temecula, located along Winchester Road in Temecula, CA, during May. The opening was the company’s first in the Inland region of the state.
Best Buy Co., Inc. (612-291-1000) plans to open between 135 and 170 locations nationwide by February of 2011, the end of the company’s fiscal year. The openings will include between 50 and 55 large-format Best Buy stores and between 75 and 100 stores with smaller footprints, including Best Buy Mobile standalone locations, nationwide, as well as 10 to 15 locations in China under the Five Star trade name. The company recently opened a Best Buy Mobile location in Orange County, CA, the company’s first in the county. Diane von Furstenberg (212-741-6607) plans to open 20 stores nationwide and internationally during the next five years. The openings will include stores in Boston, MA and the SoHo area of New York, NY, both slated to open next month, as well as potential locations in San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL and Dallas, TX. Walgreens store at the intersection of Avalon Street and Kay Street in Kuna, ID, as part of a plan to open four locations throughout the Treasure Valley area of the state during 2010.
The Gymboree Corp. (415-278-7000) plans to open between 75 and 100 Crazy 8 locations during 2010 and 2011. The stores offer children’s apparel at price points about 30% lower than Gymboree locations. The company currently operates 630 Gymboree locations and 65 Crazy 8 locations nationwide. Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Inc. (410-239-2700) plans to open between 30 and 40 Jos. A. Bank stores during 2010, as part of a plan to operate 600 stores nationwide by 2012. The company opened 14 stores during 2009, and currently operates 473 locations nationwide. CVS Caremark Corp. (877-265-7325) will open a 10,000 sq.ft. CVS drugstore situated on two acres at the intersection of State Road 40 and County Road 314 in Silver Springs, FL. The store will replace an existing 6,900 sq.ft. site located along State Route 40, is currently under construction and is slated to open during late 2011 or early 2012.
