Who’s Opening and Where Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-477-4455) plans to open a 35,000 sq.ft. Whole Foods Market at Papermill Plaza, located near the intersection of Papermill Road and Kingston Pike in Knoxville, TN. The store is slated to open during 2013. The company will also open a 32,200 sq.ft. location in Riverdale, MD next year, and plans to open six new stores, including two relocations of existing units, during the third quarter of this year. The company also plans to open stores in Tampa, FL; Des Moines, IA; Chicago, IL; Wilmington, NC and southern NH during fiscal 2012, and currently operates more than 300 specialty supermarkets nationwide and throughout Canada and the United Kingdom. Lord & Taylor, LLC (212-391-3344) plans to open a 155,000 sq.ft. Lord & Taylor store in a former Macy’s at Mall at Rockingham Park, located in Salem, NH. The store is slated to open during early 2012, joining Macy’s, JCPenney and Sears at the center, and will be the company’s first in the state and its third in New England. The company also plans to open two freestanding locations in Paramus and Shrewsbury, NJ. The stores will be in a new concept offering upscale bedding, kitchen and bath products. The company recently opened its first 10 locations, including stores in Overland Park, KS; Independence and Kansas City, MO, and Allen, Arlington, Cedar Hill, Frisco, Hurst and Lewisville, TX. The stores, standalone locations of 5,000 sq.ft. inspired by the look of a microbrewery, offer big and tall men’s apparel, sportswear, footwear and accessories and feature flatscreen TVs, an oversized poker table and comfortable seating. Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. (609-387-7800) will open an 86,000 sq.ft. Burlington Coat Factory in a former Kmart along Southern Boulevard in Royal Palm Beach, FL, as part of a plan to open between 20 and 25 stores annually nationwide. The store is slated to open during September. The company will also open a store in a former Home Depot Expo Center at Pine Island Ridge Plaza, located in Davie, FL. The company currently operates locations nationwide throughout 44 states and Puerto Rico. Factory Connection (888-713-3984) will open a 6,409 sq.ft. store in a former Tuesday Morning at Liberty Square Shopping Center, located off Interstate 64 in Putnam County, WV. The store is slated to open by the fall and will offer juniors’, misses’ and men’s apparel, as well as footwear and accessories. The company currently operates more than 240 locations nationwide throughout 10 states. Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (704-847-6961) plans to open a Family Dollar in a former Stringer’s Chickasaw Gardens Garden Center located along Poplar Avenue in Memphis, TN, as part of a plan to open eight locations throughout the city by the end of the summer. The company operates more than 6,800 stores nationwide throughout 44 states. Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. (972248-9899), through a franchisee, plans to open a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit restaurant in Akron, OH, as part of a plan to open 60 locations nationwide by year’s end. The opening will be the company’s first in the state. The company will also, through a franchisee, open a restaurant in Bloomington, MN. The opening will be the company’s eighth in the state. The store will be the company’s second in the Baltimore, MD area, and is slated to open late this year. The company recently opened its first rue21 locations in MT and SD, and currently operates 677 locations, offering apparel and accessories for men and women, nationwide throughout 46 states. Papaya (323-724-3600) will open a location at WestShore Plaza, located in Tampa Bay, FL, during the fall. The store will offer junior and petite-size women’s apparel and will join Republic of Couture, Macy’s, Cotton On and Old Navy at the center. The Men’s Wearhouse (800-777-8580) will open a 5,000 sq.ft. store at Logan Town Centre, located in Altoona, PA. The store is slated to open during mid-November and will feature a full line of men’s clothing.
