Who’s Opening and Where Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) is in the approval phase of opening a 185,688 sq.ft. Walmart Supercenter along Main Street in Spring Hill, TN. If approved, the store is slated to open during 2013. The company also plans to open a 156,000 sq.ft. Walmart store at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Mercury Boulevard in Newport News, VA. The store was originally slated to open during the fall but has been delayed to 2013, with construction slated to begin early next year. The store will include a grocery store, a garden center and a pharmacy. The company also plans to open a 154,750 sq.ft. BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. (508-651-7400) plans to open a BJ’s Wholesale Club in the 300,000 sq.ft. expansion of Virginia Gateway, a mixed-use project currently under development near U.S. Highway 29 in Gainesville, VA. The store is currently under construction with an opening projected for year’s end. The remainder of the project is expected to open by next fall.
Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) will open a 33,200 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack at The Corner, located at the intersection of North Oracle Road and West Wetmore Road in Tucson, AZ. The store will be the company’s fourth in the area and is slated to open during October, joining Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries and Paradise Bakery and Café at the center. The company also plans to open a Nordstrom Rack store in Phoenix, AZ next fall.
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. (585-3282550) plans to open a 140,000 sq.ft. Wegmans supermarket along Third Avenue in Burlington, MA. The store is slated to open by spring 2013. The company also plans to open a store in Northborough, MA during the fall, which will be their first in the state. The company currently operates 78 locations throughout five states nationwide.
