Who’s Opening and Where Trader Joe’s Co. (626-599-3700) plans to open a 12,200 sq.ft. Trader Joe’s grocery store along Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. The location will be the company’s first in the state, and will offer organic and specialty foods and beverages. The company currently operates 330 stores nationwide throughout 25 states. The store is slated to open by year’s end. CVS Caremark Corp. (877-265-7325) will open a 14,700 sq.ft. freestanding CVS pharmacy at Gateway Crossing, located along Highway 10 West in Dilworth, MN. The fullservice pharmacy, offering health and beauty products as well as general merchandise, photo processing and food items, is slated to open early next year. The company also plans to open a location at the intersection of Edgewood Road Southwest and 16th Avenue in Cedar Rapids, IA next year. Tim Horton’s (905-845-6511) plans to open a location in a former Motel 8 site at the intersection of Buckley Road and 7th North Street in Salina, NY. The coffee, breakfast and sandwich shop is slated to open by early fall, and will be the company’s 11th in the greater Syracuse, NY area.

Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (972-665-1000) will open a nine-screen Cinemark movie theater at The Stone Hill Town Center, located at the intersection of SH 130 and SH 45 in Pflugerville, TX. The theater is slated to open during May 2011. Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) is slated to open a 41,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack store at Friendship Center, located along Wisconsin Avenue Northwest in Washington, DC. The store will join Loehmann’s, Borders and Maggiano’s Little Italy at the center, and is slated to open during spring 2011. The opening will be the company’s sixth in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. The company also plans to open a 35,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack at Shops at Rivers Edge, a 111,000 sq.ft. center currently under redevelopment and located at the intersection of 82nd Street and Dean Road in Indianapolis, IN. The Container Store and buybuy Baby are also slated to open 22,000 sq.ft. and 26,000 sq.ft. locations, respectively, at the center. The company currently operates 193 stores nationwide throughout 28 states under the Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Last Chance and Jeffrey trade names.

Phase 1 Now ComPlete! Anchored by Save-A-lot

Tulepan Management LLC has finished construction of Phase 1 of Coral Square Shoppes, a 182,000sf retail center situated on 17 acres on S. US 1 and Edwards Road in Fort Pierce. Phase 1 is anchored by a 17,000sf SAVE-A-LOT Food Store and 25,000sf of retail space in two buildings, which was completed and opened in June. The project consists of retail, restaurant, entertainment and office components. Financing for Phase 1 of the project was provided by the City of Fort Pierce, in conjunction with the Federal Government’s HUD 108 Loan Program. The project was the first of its kind in the City of Fort Pierce to receive official “Brownfield” designation and was subsequently awarded a Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Brownfield Economic Development Initiative, which is co-sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The architect for the project was Kenneth McGee PA, and the general contractor was Kast Construction.
