Who’s Opening and Where American Girl, LLC (608-836-4848) plans to open a 9,500 sq.ft. American Girl store at Oak Park Mall, located in Overland Park, KS, during the fall. Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. (609-387-7800) plans to open nine Burlington Coat Factory stores in former Mervyns sites throughout CA next month, including an 80,000 sq.ft. store at Pinole Vista Crossing, located in Pinole, CA, and a 90,000 sq.ft. store at NewPark Mall in Newark, CA. The company recently opened five locations within the state, including sites in Vacaville and Elk Grove, CA. Gus Mayer (205-870-3300) will open a 15,000 sq.ft. department store at The Summit Birmingham, located at the intersection of Interstate 459 and U.S. Highway 280 in Birmingham, AL. The store will replace an existing 20,000 sq.ft. location at Colonial Brookwood Village in Birmingham. The store will join Belk and Sephora at the center and is slated to open early next year, and will feature an updated selection of merchandise and expanded hours. The company operates two locations in Birmingham, AL and Nashville, TN.
Arhaus Furniture (800-777-1745) plans to open a store at North Bethesda Market, located in Rockville, MD. The store is slated to open by year’s end. The company currently operates 38 locations throughout CO, FL, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, NJ, NY, OH, PA and VA, including two stores in Annapolis and Baltimore, MD. Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. (866340-6188), through a franchisee, plans to open 60 Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations throughout NC during the coming 10 years. The company currently operates 113 barbecue restaurants nationwide. The TJX Cos., Inc. (508-390-3000) plans to open a 27,000 sq.ft. Safeway at Lakeside at Canyon Park, a 150,000 sq.ft. shopping center currently under development on 13 acres at the intersection of 240th Street and Bothell-Everett Highway in the Canyon Park area of Bothell, WA. The store, which will anchor the center, will feature fullservice seafood, meat and deli departments, as well as a bakery, expanded beer and wine departments, a pharmacy and an instore Starbucks coffee shop. The location is slated to open next year. The company operates 1,725 units throughout the western, southwestern, Rocky Mountain, midwestern and mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S., along with western Canada, under the Safeway, Vons, Dominick’s, Genuardi’s, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Pavilions and Carrs trade names. Target Corp. (612-304-6073) plans to open a 145,000 sq.ft. Target store at the intersection of Penn Avenue, Penn Circle and Broad Street in East Liberty, PA. The store is slated to open during May of next year, and will be the first Target to feature windows allowing natural light into the store. The company currently operates 1,740 locations nationwide.

Planned openings include a store in a former Rite Aid site at Ridgley Plaza Shopping Center, located along York Road in Timonium, MD, slated to open during spring 2011, and a 20,000 sq.ft. location at the intersection of Lee Highway and Gallows Road in the Mosaic District of Merrifield/Falls Church, VA, slated to open during spring 2012. The company, offering organic and unique grocery items, bulk foods, cheeses, meats, seafood, gluten-free foods, health and pet products and environmentallyfriendly household items, operates locations throughout MD and VA. Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (908-688-0888) will open a 28,000 sq.ft. buybuy Baby store in a former Circuit City site along Harbison Boulevard in Columbia, SC, as part of a plan to open 20 locations this year. The store will offer merchandise for infants and toddlers, including furniture, toys, clothing, car seats and strollers, as well as bedding, bath and health products, and will also feature a gift registry service. The store is slated to open during the fall and will be the company’s second in the state.
Subway (203-877-4281) will open a 550 sq.ft. restaurant at Montgomery Mall, a super-regional, two-level shopping center located at the intersection of Route 202 and Route 309 in North Wales, PA. Body Central, an apparel retailer, is also slated to open a store at the center, and the tenants will join JCPenney, Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sears, Hollister, Gap, Salsa’s Mexican Grill, T.G.I. Friday’s, Weight Watchers, Crazy 8, Atlantic Book Store and China Max. The restaurant is slated to open during the fall. The company currently operates 33,107 locations nationwide and internationally. Tiffany & Co. (212-755-8000) will open a 3,700 sq.ft. Tiffany’s jewelry store at Towson Town Center, located in Towson, MD. The store is slated to open next month and will be the company’s 80th in the U.S. The company currently operates 200 locations nationwide and internationally. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a 185,000 sq.ft. Walmart on a land area of 119 acres in Quincy, WV. The store is slated to open by October 2011 and will feature an in-store Subway restaurant as well as a hair salon.
Goodwill of Southwestern PA (412-4819005) plans to open a Goodwill Industries location at a 96,000 sq.ft. site located along Route 30 in North Versailles, PA. The site will include a donation center and training facility for employees as well as an outlet store, which will offer merchandise the company has not sold in other locations. The store is slated to open by October. Flip Flop Shops, Inc. (770-424-0027) plans to open Flip Flop Shop stores throughout CA; southern FL; Atlanta, GA; New York, NY and the Pacific Northwest during the coming several years, as part of a plan to operate 236 locations nationwide by 2013.
