Who’s Opening and Where Scheels All Sports, Inc. (701-232-3665) is slated to open a Scheels All-Sports sporting goods store at Legacy Pointe Town Center, a 227-acre mixed-use development located at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Interstate 72 in Springfield, IL. The store will include a 16,000-gallon aquarium, a 900 sq.ft. taxidermy display, a Ferris wheel, shooting galleries and sports simulators. The store is slated to open next June and will join Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, Barnes & Noble, Build-ABear Workshop, Chick-fil-A, Christopher & Banks, Dillard’s, Eddie Bauer, Hollister Co., Motherhood Maternity, Pier 1 Imports, Sears, Target, The Children’s Place and Younkers at the center. The Tile Shop (763-852-2977) will open a 20,412 sq.ft. store at Montclair on Center, located at the intersection of West Center Road and 132nd Street in Omaha, NE. The store will be the company’s first in the area and is slated to open next month. The company operates 47 stores throughout DE, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, TN, VA and WA, offering stone, floor and wall tile, mosaics, accents and tools and supplies.
The Kroger Co. (513-762-4000) plans to open a 135,000 sq.ft. Marketplace store in an ElderBeerman site at Centerville Place Shopping Center, located along South Main Street in Centerville, OH. The Elder-Beerman will close during January, and the store will replace an existing Kroger at the center, which will close upon the opening of the new location. The store is slated to open next year. The company also plans to open an 87,000 sq.ft. grocery store along Plaza Avenue in Memphis, TN. The store will replace an existing, smaller Kroger location at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Highland Street, which will remain open during construction of the new store, which is slated to begin during the middle of next year. The company currently operates 2,470 grocery stores nationwide throughout 31 states under several trade names, including 30 locations in the Dayton, OH area. Dots, LLC (440-349-7040) will open a 5,000 sq.ft. Dots store at Macedonia Commons, a 543,987 sq.ft. community shopping center located in Cleveland, OH. The store is slated to open early next year and will join Walmart, rue21, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Cinemark, PetSmart, Champs Sports, Hobby Lobby and Five Below at the center.
American Girl, LLC (608-836-4848) plans to open a two-story, 23,000 sq.ft. American Girl store at Tysons Corner Center, located in Fairfax County, VA. The store is slated to open next summer. Wakefern Food Corp. (908-527-3300) may open a ShopRite supermarket in a former Circuit City located along East Gun Hill Road in Bronx, NY. Tasti D-Lite, LLC (615-550-3012), through a franchisee, plans to open between 12 and 15 Tasti D-Lite locations within the next several years, including potential locations in the Georgetown, K Street and Dupont Circle areas of Washington, DC as well as in Ocean City, MD and Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Dewey Beach, DE. The franchisee will also open a 2,100 sq.ft. location at Park Plaza, a 185,000 sq.ft. center located in Anne Arundel County, MD, by the end of this month. The store will join dressbarn, Bill Bateman’s Bistro and Jo-Ann Fabrics at the center. The company currently operates 50 locations throughout FL, NJ, NY, TN and TX, and plans to open as many as 300 locations within the next year.
