Yonanas the healthy sorbet maker Yonanas is a machine that transforms frozen fruits into delicious sorbet. This project is an improvement over the original Yonanas machine.
Concept and Ideation Yonanas is a machine that transforms frozen fruits into delicious sorbet. The Concept of the Yonanas machine really started by the fruit producer Dole to deal with over-rippened bananas and turning them into a frozen dessert. User can simply freeze the fruit of choice and turn the fruits into a heathy dessert. The inspiration of the redesign of the machine comes from three birds.

Functions
Fruit Plunger
The fruit plunger is used to push frozen fruits into the grinding chamber. A spherical handle design helps making the design universal so that kids can use it.
Grinding Chamber
Grinder Blades
The Grinding mechanism is designed to be transparent as a indicator showing how the machine works.
The spiral blades design is an improvement over the original machine. This design solves the problem of having too much leftover sorbet in the grinder.
Grinder lock
Grinder Lid
The lock prevent the motor from rotating and causing injuries. The machine will not start unless the grinding mechanism is correctly installed.
The grinder lid helps user disassemble and clean the grinder easier.
Motor
On/Off Switch
A 200W motor is driving the spiral blades to pull frozen fruit from the inlet, grind the fruits into sorbet, then push the sorbet out of the machine.
The sphere design of the switch is a continuation of the design language of the Smeg “50’s Retro Style product line.
Design Process
The new design of the Yonanas Sorbet Maker has met all the the design goals: 50% reduction in noise 15% increase in power 25% reduction in overall height Lower running cost thanks to higher quality build and extended product life
