In this way, the walls remain dry and mould has no chance to spread. Another advantage is that the air does not circulate; therefore no dust is lifted up into the air. Rheumatoid, Asthmatic patients & Allergy sufferers benefit greatly! BUSINESS MATTERS

BUSINESS MATTERS IS YOUR BUSINESS THE RIGHT COLOUR? Studies have shown that the colours used by a business, influences 60% to 80% of a customers purchasing decision. In short ‘Get it wrong, and you are stuffed!!’ Colours in business can be divided into two different categories: warm & cold. Warm colours are associated with energy, and cold colours more about calmness & security So what do we know about businesses use of colour? Well 29% use red; 33% use blue; 28% use black or grayscale; and 13% use yellow or gold Where do you fit into this? Let’s have a look at the main colours & what the key points are & which businesses suit which colours:

RED: is seen as aggressive, energetic, provocative & attention grabbing & is popular for food, technology & car businesses;

BLUE: portrays trustworthiness, dependability, security & responsibility & is best for energy, finance, airlines, technology, healthcare & agriculture businesses;

BLACK: is about prestige, value, timelessness & sophistication and suits clothing, technology & car businesses;

WHITE: shows purity, nobility, cleanliness & softness and best suits the clothing & healthcare sectors; PURPLE: signifies royalty, sophistication, nostalgia, mystery & spirituality, and is popular for finance, technology & healthcare business; GREEN: signifies wealth, health, prestige & serenity, suiting energy, finance, food, household & technology businesses;

YELLOW: is about positivity, light, warmth, motivation & creativity, being best for energy, food & household businesses;

ORANGE: is about vitality, fun, playfulness & exuberance, being the key colour for technology & healthcare business; BROWN: indicating earth like, natural, simplistic & durable, suiting clothing, technology & agriculture based businesses; So there you have it – you pay your money & you take your choice! Or you could just think that it a lot of ‘old baloney’ – but remember –Colours used by a business, influences 60% to 80% of a customers purchasing decision! Can you afford to treat it as ‘old baloney? So, if you think you need help colouring your business, call Image & Profile to arrange an initial discussion. Currency News Lets change tact this month seeing as there has been little movement in exchange rates over the past four weeks. On the property front, it is estimated that of all properties sold in Spain so far this year, 19.8% of them have been purchased by Brits adding to the 750,000 of us that already own here and call Spain our country of residence. Is this a sign of the markets coming back? Well let´s look at the stats since 2012. In the last three years property prices in Greece have fallen by 25.6%, France by 6%, Netherlands 6.8%, Italy 13.6% and Spain 23%. However, in the last 9 months prices in Spain have risen by a positive 1.6%. By comparison, the UK has seen an increase in average house prices of 24.9% (bearing in mind this is largely driven by the greater London area). So is this now a time to buy (or sell)? Year to date we have seen a marked increase in the number of Brits looking to buy in Spain and enquiring with regards to our bankbusting services. At the same time, many of our clients looking to sell, have seen a slow return to the days of sensible offers. Whilst in recent months the relatively strong Pound has seen some clients hesitating to repatriate funds to the UK, the slip back to rates below the 1.40 mark has meant a busy time for us of late & with many industry experts still predicting the Sterling to euro rates to rise back into the high 1.4´s and even 1.50 by 2017, now may not be a bad time for those wishing to sell euros & return funds to the UK. For more information call Melanie Radford at Currencies Direct. See their advert under Currency Transfers.

Legal Matters

Spanish property on divorce or marriage Many English people will remember signing their Deeds, (Escritura), of their property at the Notary. Spanish Notaries are officials of the state and have extensive experience and knowledge. Sometimes they ask a couple about their “matrimonial regime” and this can cause confusion with English and British nationals. This is because it is a civil law concept familiar to the rest of Europe but not applied in English common law or matrimonial law. In Spain the couple can elect to hold their assets separately or as “gananciales”, Community of Property. Sometimes a married person has purchased in Spain after marriage but registered in their own personal name rather than jointly. Where this property is the matrimonial home and the marriage has been a long one, the English Court would take it into consideration when talking about a division of assets. This brings the English regime on divorce closer to that of Community of Property or gananciales where assets acquired during marriage are divided 50/50. Therefore prior to marriage or on divorce it is important to establish how the property is registered. Also it is possible to convert sole ownership to joint ownership at any stage given legal advice on your national law. If you are not sure about the legal situation with property or wish to sign a pre-nuptial contract it is best to seek advice from lawyers – abogados - with experience in dealing with both property and matrimonial matters. Quaintly Spanish RECIPE BY TINA Bribery I often promise myself stuff when I have to do things I REALLY don’t want to do. So go to the gym, and afterwards I can have a gin tonic. Go to the dentist and afterwards I can have a gin tonic. Call angry client and afterwards… Well you probably get it. One of the things I dread most in Spain is banking. So last year I promised myself a big gin tonic once I’d paid my property taxes. I set out in the best of spirits: I brought every document I could think of and confidently joined the GIANT queue at the bank. After what seemed like hours, it was my turn! I showed them my form and as it turned out, you could only pay it in cash. WHY??? You’re a BANK! But no, I had to go outside, get the money from their cash machine and join the queue all over again. So I stomped out and decided to try a different bank. Next bank was all lovely and quiet, but: “You can’t pay this here, we are not that kind of bank”. What do you mean?! Not the kind of bank that handles money?! I stomped on. Another bank, another queue. When it was finally my turn a little old lady barged out in front of me and mumbled she had “only one question”. A very complicated one apparently because it took a good half hour. My turn! Clerk looked at my form and said I couldn’t pay it because the date had passed. There may have been some swearing after this and definitely a gin tonic. Or two. So this year I decided to try a whole different approach: I’ll start out with the gin tonic and take it from there…. Since the beginning of The Directory (30 months ago!!) Tina has been supplying great recipes for all to try. We have decided to make a slight change to the format and not only give you recipes but also increase your knowledge on Spanish Cuisine! We will give you a question and an answer, then a recipe that is appropriate to the question, still with ease and quickness of preparing. The first one is easy, here goes: What 2 ingredients are the most used in savoury food in Spain? Answer: Olive Oil and garlic. Recipe: Alioli (the quick way for when unexpected guests arrive and you need a quick dip to provide nibbles) 1/3 jar of mayonnaise 3 garlic cloves, crushed 1/3 cup of olive oil Salt, pepper to taste Lemon juice 1 tblsp Chopped mint/parsley about 3 leaves finely chopped.(optional ) Blend all together and serve.
