Adobe D&AD Brief
Use your life experience and hard-won wisdom as a springboard for a set of poster prints.
Adobe D&AD Brief In Depth
Background Adobe and the Creative Cloud are the enablers of the creative industries. And when fueled by your craft and creativity, Adobe’s tools make ideas a reality and empower you to not just communicate, but inspire. You’re young. You’re just starting to make your way out into the big wide world. And you’ll be on the recieving end of a lot of advice from all directions. But you’ve learnt a thing or two, and now it’s time to draw on your experience and visually declare what you’ve got to share.
Adobe D&AD Brief In Depth
The Challange Use your life lessons and celebrate them through illustration or photography. Identify the advice you’d like to give, and create a series of 3 posters or prints to visually bring your insight to life. Can you communicate it without words? Create images that pack a punch and get to the core of the heartfelt advice you’re trying to express. Though this is all about craft, so you can incorperate lettering if that’s your illustrative style.
Who is it for? You can decide who your target audience is. Just be sure to tell us when you submit your work. Peers? More experienced people? Parents?
Adobe D&AD Brief In Depth
What to consider • Could be legacy for your peers, show bad advice you’ve been given or celebrate what you’ve learned the hard way. Capture this. • What do you wish you’d been told? • Don’t go too dark or deep. Think fun. • Make the medium of work relevant to the idea. • If you use lettering, make sure its for a good reason. • Think beyond the page - extension of the 3 posters is welcome. • Craft is crutial and an Idea is key. • Physical prints are optional. Does it help the idea? • Be expressive and “make it count” - uh. • Finally...can you integrate creative cloud?

Personal Experience (Design related) • Never save work to your desktop. You’ll lose it. • Never say no to a cup of tea, a glass of wine or a night out. It’s all character building. • ...but remember, don’t burn yourself out. • Fake it til’ you make it. Youtube tutorials make up half my degree. • Design isn’t a job, its a way of life. • Be first in and last out. Show willing. • Keep dust and pubes off your portfolio. • Learn to write emails. And get good at responding.

“Go for a walk. Free your thoughts”.
Notes - Try 6 /8 bulbs. Options going off the page and not. - Try doing both flat (like examples on right) and also with a shadow/ texture.
“Talk to someone. Two heads are better than one.
Notes - Try and do an option without lines? - I do like it like this though... its simple.
“Take a pencil where ever you go. Ideas can come from anywhere.” Notes - Try and figure out an option where theres more space around it (like example above) - Don’t do the figure too detailed. haha.
“Lose yourself in a book.”
Notes - Make this look cool.
