Fashion and the Future

By Bruno Vicente

fashion designer

The Draft Mag - Future Issue - Bruno Vicente

Bruno de São Vicente, is a Fashion Designer, living in Lisbon. He’s the founder and the face behind the brand “Vicente International”. Starting from Lisbon, conqueering Asia and spreading to Angola, this new promissing Designer is only in its beggining to stardom.

We live in a social reality contained with lots of information, socio-economic and cultural, artistic and intellectual movements influence guide and control the fashion industry, image and public opinion, very directly.

By direct reflection of freedom of speech, self expression, creativity and the saturation of the concepts, Here you wil have the opportunity to know what he has to say about Fashion and its Future. you see more than ever a range of Plus!! A sneak peek to his Fall 2011 collection. suggestions, trends and approaches among themselves scattered and even contradictory, but complementary and somehow fill the aesthetic desires of a generation that consumes greedily, without reservation and with the unanimous view of the distinction, social inclusion and affirmation of the personality. This generation ,at the breakneck pace that it moves, the access to information platforms that are more than many, and they practically became dependent, fashion found his oasis, and allows you to dare, to break the rules, reinventing, shock, interpret , and ridicule any concepts, formulas, or aesthetic stratagems previously unthinkable. Fashion is change, and is particularly individual sensitivity. This change had an obvious interpretation, and is expected to register historically as well as in the following of civilizations, and the constant transformation of societies that will not be different. Everything will change, and change dramatically. One of the major factors that will influence fashion, and you already see today very clearly, are the weather conditions that no longer meet their cycles as would be expected, and we noticed a change in seasons and a manifestation of shifting temperatures somewhat scattered, leading the fashion industry in order “Fashion is change, and to contemplate this constraint, making no is particularly individual sense to continue to keep the fashion cycles of 6 in 6 months sensitivity.” separating the seasons like spring / summer and autumn / winter.

The Draft Mag - Future Issue - Bruno Vicente

The future is guessed with fickle weather adversity, and need to be more worked technological materials for thermal control, intelligent accessories that enable us to adapt more versatile and comfortable, responding to a possible drop in temperature, and clothes that isolate comfortably in excess heat or cold, with technology that allows us to control these variations in a practical way.

“The future of fashion is highly dependent on the future of technology, innovation and will increasingly be addressed by its two major underlying dimensions that have always had one at some point but lost in detriment of another”

In terms of trends, I believe a tendency for urban tribal styles, with bases wiggling the body of material made with thermal systems, with the juxtaposition of more loose pieces, baggy, and repeated use of parkas, capes, adaptable collars, and hoods. Accessories such as shoulder pads, hats, gloves, masks and materials in advanced technology, mirrored to reflect or shine, against a scenario of extreme heat, or as panels to attract the heat, as the opposite scenario. The future of fashion is highly dependent on the future of technology, innovation and will increasingly be addressed by its two major underlying dimensions that have always had one at some point but lost in detriment of another. The Fashion always serve to fulfill the ego and the aesthetic perfection, but no doubt it will be important in matters of survival and adaptation of the body to adverse weather.

Sibylle Baltzer Sibylle Baltzer is a painter born in France but graduated from Chelsea School of Art and Slade, the prestigious school of fine art. Sibylle studied, worked and lived in London for a few years, but one day, she packed a bag and drove with no destination, ending up in Marrakech, Morocco. Baltzer’s work, seen in distance, looks like beautiful bold splashes of color, but as we go closer, we can understand it is more than that. We look deep into each one of them, and you can feel a rhythm, a “beat”, with flowy strokes of the brush “dancing” through the canvas., and a combination of graphic lines and geometric figures that create this beautiful composition of opposites. Sybille isn’t the type of painter who only performs her work just using the paint and the brush., often, she adds useless objects, or parts of it, creating texture, combining colors of different universes, that composes a story and creates a 3D dimension and also odd shaped paintings. I asked Sibylle how was her process when creating a painting, which she responded that actually, she doesn’t work at one painting at a time, but two or three. canvas experimenting colors, strokes, “objects”, and basically, creating a relation between them. No wonder, Sibylle is considered now, one of the leading contemporary painter in Morocco. So, if you ever think in visit Marrakech, you must go visit Galerie Rê where you be delighted to see her works.

OS BURGUESES Uma Ópera Urbana

The Prophecy Two years ago, the fashion designer duo, Mia Lourenço and Eleutério, started the fashion label “Os Burgueses” and the authors began a Collections reporting the cycle of the life of Jane Doe in IV acts. The Winter 2011 collection - Nuclear Winter - is the final act where Jane manages to accomplish the prophecy of this world in the hands of the “machine-man”. In the environment resides an atmosphere of suspension. The last moments seen in slow motion: the coldness of the machinery, the restlessness of the humans and the peace of the Prophet.

What comes after the Prophecy? Mia Lourenço e Eleutério, at the end of this story found the starting point for a new future. In the suspension they discover time to take a deep breath, assimilate and discover new concepts. They build their future in the need of creating art, innovate and reinvent, to appreciate what happened, what happens and what will happen. The Future is Urban Poetry
