Gm! For many, January is a month of resolutions, cleanses, and new beginnings. For Degens it’s about lessons learned, new strategies and hopefully more of us making it. This issue dives into some wellknown collections that need no introduction, Dead Fellaz, Fame Lady Squad and Coolman’s Universe. Finally, you know we love a featured artist. We take a look at Hailtree A.K.A Amanda Hailwood, an artist from Aotearoa New Zealand with a fascination for natural photography.

Meta News
All the things you might have missed this week in the Metaverse.
Dead Join The Horde
Not like their namesake, DeadFellaz boasts one of the most active and alive communities in the Metaverse today. With over 5.7K unique holders and just under 90% of the collection not listed for sale, the Dead Fellaz have seen a huge surge of success in this month’s bull run with a current floor price of 1.79Ξ (Jan 2021). Don’t let the “Fellaz” part fool you either, this 10K collection consists of thoughtfully handdrawn gender-neutral traits from power couple, or should we say horror couple, Betty and Psych. The collection captures their goal of gender inclusivity, their love for the horror genre, and elements of pop culture and street fashion that shine through from one Dead Fella to the next.
Community Driven Innovation We love a collection that awards holders with IP ownership of their NFT, and Dead Fellaz is no exception. Though understandably the team are still working on an official write up around the IP rights associated with the project, actions speak louder than words and it’s clear from Dead Fellaz’ community driven roadmap that the project wants to build together. By fostering community collaboration and creativity through the likes of NFT gamification dev competitions, theme song contests, derivative art challenges and more. Dead Fellaz are on a mission to build a home-grown brand that their holders can be proud of.
Fellaz Deadfrenz
Though the floor price of Dead Fellaz may be too high of an entry point for degens like us, there’s a new companion collection of Deadfrenz on the way later this month. Deadfrenz are PFP ready, art-focussed and feature the same degrade system as seen in the original collection. Holders will enjoy some of the same utility when it’s come to discord and will have their own parallel stream of utility alongside the fellaz as the 2.0 roadmap is revealed later this year.
For the art A lot of flippers may scoff at buying NFTs for the love of the art, but in the case of
Dead Fellaz it makes a lot of sense. For a creativity driven collection like this there is a lot of potential for normie outreach. The delightful eye-candy that is Dead Fellaz is likely to catch the eye of some big brands pouring into the Metaverse this year. Let’s face it the big players from the real world are here for the money, so they’re likely to try and latch on to some wellestablished collections like this one and given the teams history of commercial brand building and creative production, future collaborations seem imminent.

Fame Lady Sq If you’ve been in the space long enough you’ve surely heard the tale of Fame Lady Squad. Launched in early July as the first all-female led and based NFT project, the collection began taking over the metaverse by storm, until a cold summer morn in August when the community discovered evidence that the team was ran by a bunch of bozo men.
the metaverse version of a house-hold name is, it’s safe to say Fame Lady Squad is in the club, and as such the holders enjoy a long list of pre-sale access and giveaway competitions from other projects that keeps the discord on their toes.
Following community demand, the original founders handed over the keys of the project to key community members Bored Becky, Data and NFTignition. Fame Lady Squad was then reborn and relaunched as a community led project ready to take on the Metaverse.
We’re used to dealing with 10K collections at Drop Magazine, but the Fame Lady Squad consists of 8888 ladies and like a bajillion trait combinations. For such an old-school project the floor price is a modest 0.1Ξ (Jan 2022) and with only 21% of the collection listed for sale, the floor is lava.

The Next Chapter
These days Fame Lady Squad have no shortage of things to check out including a merch store, a podcast, and some future brand partnerships to speculate on. No stranger to collabs, the squad recently announced a team up with Catharsis, an NFT jewellery project that provides holders with actual IRL bling. Whatever

True to their word in lieu of a 2022 roadmap is an open book, the community will determine the next destination for this project, they are exploring ideas such as comic books, Metaverse land presence, exclusive content and more. You’ll have to jump into their discord to see what’s next.

GM H Say gm to hailtree, an NFT artist combining photography with a fascination for the natural environment. The self-taught artist from Aotearoa is a metaverse globe trotter, with NFTs on Ethereum, Polygon, and Tezos. Utilising post production techniques the artist further accentuates the symmetry of their photographic works, some of our favourites include hawk haven, curved and terraformed trees.
On top of that Hailtree has created Hailtree Hallow, two virtual galleries of curated art that you can explore and experience for yourself. Though initially a stranger to NFTs, the artist has found their way around the Metaverse and now offers a helping a hand to the normies. We caught up with them to learn more.
Q. When did you discove NFTs?
A. I discovered NFTS in lat
2020, as some of my favour artists (Tyedyed, wgm_v, jencaywood) all began to se their work through it. At firs I was gutted, as I thought it meant i’d never be able to afford their art, but as I watched the space, my intri grew.
I was just hesitant with all the climate propaganda, as Papatūānuku (Māori - mothe earth) is my biggest priority in life, but as I learnt more, learnt that there were green alternatives to Ethereum, an so I joined the Tezos ecosys The first edition of my gene NFT was collected by wgm_ and it felt very full circle aft being so heavily inspired by work for years.
Q. What was the first NF you bought?
A. My first NFT that I
purchased was from battnft I’d previously commissioned

her to do a portrait of myself, and instantly fell in love with collecting - it felt like a direct transaction between me and Batt, with no printing or postage to dig into the profits. I bought that NFT for 0.1 $XTZ and sold it a few weeks later for 14 $XTZ. I was hooked immediately.
Q. One of few multi-
blockchain artists with works on Ethereum, Matic and Tezos, which one have you found the most success with? Do you have a personal preference?
A. So far, the only sales I have
made have been through Tezos, and the community surrounding hicetnunc and objkt is incredible - so i’m going to have to go with Tezos. I love the low barrier to entry (a fraction of a $1 on transaction fees) as it’s allowed me to collect over a hundred pieces from artists all around the world. The low minting cost also encourages experimentation, and I’m very very into the idea of investing in artists ideas,
so that they are bought more time to continue to explore the avenues they choose to take their art in.
Q. Do you have a favourite
NFT that you’ve created?
A.
The series I had the most fun releasing was my ‘Four Laws of Manifestation’. I slowly minted these over the course of a week, keeping my roadmap secret, once the series was minted in full I crafted and minted a unique 1/1 for each collector who held the full set of four. Initially I had planned to airdrop all holders of this series another piece on my birthday, but a week beforehand objkt.com released the option to mint collections, and so I airdropped my first objkt collection ‘Magickal Myceliym’ editions between everyone holding editions from my Manifestation series.
Coolman’s One thing that is absolutely clear from the realm of NFTs is that there’s no shortage of incredible creators in the space. That is particularly true for today’s featured project Coolman’s universe - which is built on the back of some wonderful, playful cartoon art from Danny Casale (Coolman Coffeedan). The team - stacked full of talented engineers, designers and more - behind this relatively new 10k collection have managed to successfully leverage Dan’s enormous online presence, which amounts to just shy of 10 million followers across his Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter profiles! Many founders that have come and gone, especially during the NFT mania of 2021, have often been guilty of overpromising on things that weren’t realistic or that they simply didn’t have the resources or knowledge to deliver on. The benefit of Coolman’s universe is that they’re flipping the script here
and not making outlandish claims to bulk out the roadmap. Whilst there are already a handful of cool perks for community members such as a book and discounted coffee, the team have begun to tease some cool plans for Q1 of this year on their website. We’d recommend heading over there for the full list, but if you don’t mind a few little spoilers then they’re painting a mural, buffing up the website, dropping some toys/ merch and hosting an IRL red carpet event in NYC for holders! Without giving the game away, over at Coolman’s HQ they’re also promising various collaborations, partnerships and giveaways for the community to look forward to! One of the largest developments so far is perhaps their partnership with Metalink - an NFT-native social media application which allows verified holders to hang out in an environment without imposters. The platform currently plays host to some of the largest collections in the space such as Bored Ape
Yacht Club, Cryp CyberKongz, wit integration sche this month!

If you’ve been around the arena of NFTs for any significant amount of time, then you’re likely familiar with a couple of key metrics to look out for from an investment standpoint. Perhaps the most popular are the number of holders, as well as the percentage of the collection for sale. Why? Well, the former ultimately measures how distributed the collection is - are the tokens spread out across a large community, or held by a select number of whales that can, at any moment, dump a significant share and crash the market? Typically, anything over 3-4k holders is said to be good. When it comes to the quantity up for sale, this can help to indicate sentiment i.e. are collectors racing to the bottom and rushing to dump the project (a large portion of the available supply up for sale) vs diamondhanding and deciding to hodl the collection long term (smaller amounts listed)? A quick glance at Coolman’s OpenSea page at
the time of writing reveals a very strong level of distribution, with 5.2k holders, as well as a seemingly high level of conviction, with just a smidge over 10% listed for sale! The floor price is also sitting at a very comfortable 1.2 ETH, with just about $25 million in volume. If we’re being honest, this project, if nothing else, is just cool. Good vibes from the community, playful art, a large and well-equipped team and some nice plans for which there are already signs of execution. We’ve only scratched the surface in this write-up and so would definitely recommend that you go ahead and jump into the Discord, browse the website and drop the gang a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with any news!

This week in the M (Jan 10th – 16th 2 If it $LOOKS rare, that’s because it probably is! Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good freebie? The crypto ecosystem is pretty famous for handing out free tokens and goodies in the form of airdrops, with many of these handing people life-changing sums of cash just for being involved. Recently, the NFT niche started seeing an increase in this dynamic, perhaps the most famous of which is $SOS (from OpenDAO). Now, the team behind a new marketplace - LooksRare - hoping to one day rival the behemoth that is OpenSea has taken it upon themselves to be the latest giver-of-goodies! On January 10th, news of another airdrop for $LOOKS, the site’s native token, began circulating. Those who had spent more than 3 ETH on OpenSea between June 16th and December 16th of 2021 are eligible and, going forward, can stake their coins to earn a split of ALL generated trading fees (2%). Missed out on the airdrop? Don’t worry, buying or selling NFTs from eligible collections will earn you tokens, which you can then stake to compound and earn more! For more information, see the team’s blog post here and keep an eye on their Twitter!
Apes are now being adopted by… Dragons? Earlier this week we saw further evidence of traditional investors meeting the hottest project in NFTs. For any readers across the pond, Dragon’s Den is the UK’s response to Shark Tank, where budding entrepreneurs pitch their idea to a panel of ‘dragons’ in hopes of securing an investment. Successful businessman Steven Bartlett is one such dragon, and whilst he would usually be found scrapping over a £50k-for-15% kind of deal, his Bored Ape Yacht Club purchase was far beyond that - paying 68.75 ETH (approx. $235,000) for a mere 0.01% share of the collection! Whilst many high profile players tend to dive straight into BAYC, it turns out Steven also owns several other projects such as VeeFriends and RTFKT, according to a recent tweet of his.
Metaverse 2022)
$SOS - Literally, for those out of the loop! As touched on elsewhere in this section, one of the more high-profile NFT airdrops was $SOS from OpenDAO. In a recent vote by the community, holders decided to bring the claim window forward significantly from June 30th, 2022. The new deadline is 12th January. In keeping with the mechanics of a DAO, there is now a vote on how the unclaimed tokens will be used, with all options designed to benefit holders in some way. If you’d like to find out more about the project or are just curious about the airdrop and what they’re trying to achieve then it’s definitely worth having a browse over their website or joining the Discord!
Do you guys ever shut up about BAYC!? Well, it’s kind of hard when it constantly seems to bring us news! Anyone who has been in the space for some time knows that the project is often leveraged for publicity stunts to benefit those behind them. The most recent happened in recent days, when a BAYC, alongside a MAYC and kennel club were all snapped up by a seemingly lucky wallet for 0.01 ETH each (a casual 0.000128% of the floor price). Whilst many Twitter users assumed this was a hack or a serious blunder which, let’s be honest, ape holders are pretty infamous for at this point, the truth was actually a bit of an anticlimax. The transaction was a private sale between Dadjudicator and Lime Network, with the assets being allocated to their treasury. Obviously the BAYC bot announcement caused quite a stir and both parties have since stated that they will soon reveal what the full story is here.
